The Infected World

Allison Burns stepped up to the podium and grabbed hold of the microphone. A giant crowd of men stood in front of her, waiting. She swallowed the lump in her throat and began the speech.

"The war between man and the war machines has gone on for too long. We as a human race must band together to free our homes and protect our population. Now this is possible, with the friendship with the Infected. Together, with their powers and our technology we shall destroy our enemy and reclaim our nations as one people united.

"May God help us in path to victory."

A large cheer came up from the crowd. Allison smiled and breathed a huge sigh of relief.

((OK, so this is how it all goes down. Military machines ran by computers go rogue and conquer the world. A resistance fights them with the help of Infected, who are humans who have gained superpowers. The computers want to destroy the Infected.))

I'll give it a try, if you don't mind.

Seth Dancer was in the crowd of cheering men. After having his young sister killed by the machines, he joined the resistance at 23 years old. He learned his way around a gun quick, preferring Russian made weapons, such as the AK-47. While he was still young, surviving under the War Machines hardened him beyond his age, and stole all traces of a child within him. He was now a warrior, a soldier of the resistance, willing to fight until his last breath. He was cheering with the other men. feeling his respect for Allison rise.

Let's see what we can do.

Michael heard the cheers from inside, but had missed the better half of the speech because he had pulled guard duty for this time and he wasn't going to let any over-glorified piece of silicon in a coke can get past him and get at his responsibility. Putting his cigarette out against the wall the thought made him smile. His responsibility. Had this been any other time in the past he'd have been sitting in a cell without anything to worry about except the occasional prison shank. He stood up from the crouch he was in and re-adjusted his load. In his hands he had his trusted companion, a Mossberg 500 Mariner edition. He could jump into any water and come up pushing lead out and this puppy loved it. In his shoulder holsters sat a pair of Sig Sauer pistols. The pack on his back only carried a sleeping roll, a few toiletry items, his things to cook with, and a swiss army knife. It was hard trying to carry more than that since the machines took over. Those bad boys were ruthless hunters that could hunt a man endlessly. His hazel eyes scanning the area from his perch he tried looking for any of the telltales of these machines he could find.
