The Warehouse......

Day 2, Whitefall – The Warehouse outside of Necessity, 9:00 PM PT

The kid had got the mule ready for the trip back to town. He’d got directions to the Warehouse from the Capt’n and they were now whisking their way south of Necessity. It was long before a huge metal building loomed up in front of them. All sorts of folks were headed in so Ash figured this must be the place.

The kid settled the mule into a handy spot and the crew head toward the big hanger doors. Music was coming from inside and soon there were good smells too. Asher’s mind rolled back to Ezra when the family would go the local farm fair. As they walked in it was all the kid could have hoped for, there are all sorts of food vendors, drink vendors and those carnival type games like knock over the milk cans and ring the bottle. There are jugglers, magicians and clowns. Some storage crates have been brought in for businesses to open up little shops selling clothing and trinkets.  The Honeydew even has a double storage crate set up for … express service. The air smells of popcorn, grease and smoked meats. A huge smile crossed his face as he turned to take it all in. He nearly tripped on his own duster that he wore to conceal his shoulder rigs and his other toys.

Seemed the whole thing was staged around a center area where the main ring is the highlight of the event, set up on a platform so it is above the main ground but not high enough that people cannot see the fight. Lights set up to illuminate it well, and screens going up so those who can’t get close can see the battle. It has a large open area around it for the crowd to gather and then in the four corners of the Warehouse, there are smaller rings set up for other side fights for the hands that don’t want to fight Bart.

Asher was about ask Capt’n Wyatt if could see the sights when Eagle eye spoke up to Wolf.

“You want me to put you on the board or do you want to hold off and do the surprise challenge thing…. Up to you… If you go up now, people gonna be curious, wanna check you out – including Patience.”

Wyatt looks askance of his mechanic as if he's not keen on Wolf getting his face smashed just before they take on cargo. But Eagle's commentary sparks an immediate response from the captain.

"Don't put 'is name on the board,….I want no reason fer Patience t' be any more curious 'bout anyone of us than she already is."

The kid took that as enough to hang close just in case. As they walked he heard men setting up bets on side fights and got a bit confused on this odds thing. He couldn’t figure how it could be that if the odds were 5 to 1 and you put one credit you only got five back if your fella won. Wouldn’t that just be four and you own back so it was four not five?

Ash just shook his head and hoped they’d walk close to one of them popcorn stands.
