hmm...

What's funnier is that he came into a situation dressed as the enemy, draws a sword and approaches the current spokesman for the refugees... and the one that offered a way for him to engratiate himself, and expects not to invoke a hostile reaction.

Also, in the future, I would request that you not assume my character would just stand there and not react while you drive a sword in the ground a foot away from him. In the future, please voice it as an attempt or an intention and let me decide if I stay there or react to it.

And with that I consider this closed and we'll go from where we are now.

Day off

Ideally, I'll be able to come up with an update tonight. If not tonight, then by Wednesday for sure.

Not quite sure what to make of the conflict thus far... In-game, its looking good, provided it doesn't come to swings. But make sure it stays in-game. Arguments easily get out of hand..

Update

Updated, a little later than anticipated. But its there. So we'll see about another one for next Monday. I'll update information in the Q/A, both for characters (Yes, I know I STILL need to put Tobias and Kresimir in there), as well as for Personalities that you guys know of.

Looking forward to seeing your posts.

What do you need, Tek?

From the three of us that have indicated we're ready to go, what are you looking for us to post next? Are you looking for a "waiting" post of our character getting ready to leave? Let me know.

More or less

Essentially. Getting ready, taking care of things in advance, etc... This is also a chance for Nimu to crunch a post in before you guys take off.

Just for interest's sake...

I've thrown some updates into the earlier posts in this thread, supplying more information on people and the world events and such. Check Personalities and Chronicles to get a better idea of things, if you so wish.

Updated

Got one in as best as I could with the things I had to do today. Should be sufficient to get things moving. Check the party status post and the glossary here in the Q/A for some updated info, and we'll shoot for another update next Monday.

Somewhat...

Thanks, Shield Wolf, for getting a post in. Update is coming Monday, but...we're still missing a few posts here! If anybody is going to be missing the update, just shoot me a PM with your intended actions (if any) and I'll work it in.

Again

Updated. Decision time for you guys. Please try to get everybody in before next Monday, because I'll be away for a week afterwards and unlikely able to update during that time. Following one will likely be in the new year! So, hopefully we can move up to something big by then.

To my fellow players...

Any preference here, guys? Set up camp? or push through the night?

My vote would be to push through the night... but I could be pretty easily persuaded to set up camp.

My vote

Since we don't know how far away the bandits are, I would suggest setting up camp a bit off of the road. Koriss can do a bit of scouting while everyone else is secure in the camp. Perhaps we can set up a few simple traps to help alert us of the approach of potential enemies using materials scavenged from the land nearby.

Generally, It wouldn't do for us to reach the bandits after being fatigued by a forced march. At least, not while we know so little of our enemies. I would imagine it would take a dozen or more to simply herd the refugees away from the gear, given the number of refugees.

Also, while we are here, perhaps we can search the area for the signs of what direction they went, blood stains and what not to determine how many of the refugees were killed (or injured) etc. and get as much information as we can regarding what actually happened here. (Sorry, I don't entirely trust the kid)

thoughts on the matter

as a player, setting up camp and such makes sense, to ensure everyone is rested and ready to go on with full strength in the morning.. (might ensure Kresimir get's a heal in before spell reset)

But I have to wonder also if this gives the bandits more time to lead refugees away, or will our wait cost another one if not more their lives? These are bandits, stealth, darkness, and cowardice are their strengths... direct confrontation likely not..

Kresimir having been on horseback is likely one of the most rested of the group, I would imagine the Templar's horses were of fine stock and meant to cover large distances and marches.

Were we to push onward, and encounter the bandits either overnight or around morning, even fatigue checks would likely only come to pass after combat, in which case I'd think those of us still standing would have deserved the rest anyways... Plus we'd have the refugees around to take watch or such before we led them home?

As a character, Kresimir would be in favor of pushing forward, noting the necessity and haste of the situation, and while talking a good talk and having the heart behind it, he's not foolish enough to push on alone in an effort to take on an entire bandit camp.

...

The halfling however, has been hiking this whole time. Darkness and stealth are also his forte. Beyond that, what good does it do us to find the bandits if we are too exhausted to fight them.

We know nothing about the situation we will be walking into, about where they actually are, how many there are, or really anything further than they are somewhere near here. If we are going to go into a situation we are ignorant of and ill-prepared for, I would at least like to do it well-rested.

Have the horse rider go on by himself and get himself killed facing a dozen bandits. I'm sure Koriss won't care other than it'll make his job harder because now the bandits will know someone is hunting them.

By the way, not all bandits are stupid or roguish. They lead by strength and intimidation.

More thoughts on the subject

I'm still torn. I can see both your points of view. I'm trying to think through what Tobias would be thinking, having been a Templar at one time and likely having dealt with bandits in the past.

Initially, I thought he'd probably push forward, hoping to come upon the bandits at night when most of their numbers would likely be sleeping and caught unaware. If we knew the location at this point in time, I feel fairly confident that would be Tobias' game plan. In his mind (and mine, I suppose), he imagines the bandits to be disorganized, with little to no military or warrior training. (I know he could be completely wrong, but that's his assumption) They are bullies, who use intimidation along with surprise and swarm tactics. (Again, an assumption)

However, we don't know the location of the bandit camp yet, and the darker it gets the harder it will be to notice trail signs. (though, again, I imagine that soon we will begin to start hearing the bandits before we see them). Tobias also has little information regarding the bandits... if Rain really does have a cure for the Fever, it's possible the bandits (or their leader) knew this and their raid was not for supplies at all.

Beyond that, Tobias is a bit nervous that the bandits have the advantage in the dark of knowing the lay of the land much better than us.

So, I guess I am leaning more towards setting up camp for the night, and perhaps sending the rogue and maybe the barbarian out on a scouting trip while the cleric and the fighter set up the camp and get some food prepared.

Any more thoughts? Additional perspectives?
