baby name

For those who haven't heard, my wife and I are expecting baby #5 this June. Yes, we know what causes it. I'd say that we are apparently pretty good at it.

Since we have gone girl, boy, boy, boy so far, we both think that it will probably be a boy again (we not finding out, however). We're looking at names, and one has come up that my wife has brought up before. In the past, I've resisted, worrying that it's too "out there", but I find my resistance fading.

What do you think about Tanis for a boy's name?

We have several more normal names in mind, but I'd like to know what the Innmates think of this.

Number Five!!

My goodness... you guys are baby making machines! And somewhat crazy if you ask me. Not that I don't the little bundle screaming on my lap right now... but sheesh.

Hmmm... but Tanis. I have to admit I kind of like it. But there is something to be said for 'normalish' names. If you go for it at least give the kid a good 'fall back' middle name in case Tanis doesn't rock his boat. Then again you'll spend all this time debating it and end up with a girl. Em does need a sister.

Isn't Tanis the name of the half elf from Dragonlance? Or has it been too long since I read that?

M.

Yep Dragonlance it is

Thats where I got my Avatar name from as his full name in elvish is something like Tanthalas but his human sounding name is Tanis Half-Elvin I just dropped the H added an N and added a ' between the two halves .

Holy Frijoles!

Another one?!?!
You guys are just crazy with this baby-making business! Are ya shooting for your own baseball team, maybe? Or a TV show - The Suddeth Bunch - perhaps?

In all seriousness, though... Congratulations and, of course, best wishes.

And my vote, as far as Tanis goes, is a definite yes. I'm all for unique/unusual names, myself.

heh

I'm not sure that it's a top choice, and the middle name is decided - we're going with James, after her brother who died a year ago.

We'll probably go with something a little more normal, but I appreciate the feedback.

Oh, and thanks for the well wishes, also!

For the Boss ( t_catt11 )

I had put this the Limerick Posts, but it would be good to repeat it here.

More babies to make the Inn better,

This time Olan is the go getter.

So this is number five,

Well sakes alive.

This gives the T_catt a litter.

Congrat's.

Glan to see the middle as James,
thought you might go with Hyde
Tanis Hyde

Grugg is right...

Grugg is a fairly unisex name. That should be the baby's codename before it is born, like movies and secret projects.

Baby 5: Codename Grugg.

#5? wow

Congratulations!

That being said, I would vote against Tanis. I like it as a name for a fantasy character, but as a teacher I know that kids don't always understand names, and would make fun of a name that sounds the same as Tennis. (even though I would pronounce the name as Tah-nis).

Now, Tasselhoff... there's nothing holding you back on that one.

More like...

Unisex is the best way to put it. Mer is right. Consider it a complement.

I'm totally going to give my friends' unborn children codenames.
