Hard To Top................

Great thread idea but did you have to start with one so hard to top?

You can tell this person doesn't read, they only watch movies.

WOW!

yeah, ummmm

how? LOTR was written in 1954-55, potter was 1997-2007....whos the rip off if there is one?

Harry potter is a rip-off completely anyway, the worst witch series by Jill Murphy(1986) which has mainly the same plot, and The Legend of Rah and the Muggles by Nancy Stouffer(1984) which features Larry Potter and his friend Lily.

Tolkien died in 73.

Even Older than that..............

Actually it was "written" in stages between 1937 and 1949, much of it during World War II.

The story I heard was that he wrote it for his son during the war and sent it to him while he was in the service.

It was published in 1954 -55.

Linkages

You can make a link out of something by throwing in

[a href= (web address here) ] (The words you want here) [/a]

Only replacing the ] [ square brackets with pointed ones ><

I don't know what part you leave out if you want to make the address and the text part the same, since I always use the feature to plant links directly into the text of my posts.

For everyone else's benefit, I linked that biz here, Farnsworth you know what you're talking about.

EDIT: as for images, I can't quite remember that process, but it'd best to avoid throwing too many of those around unless they are entirely awesome and necessary, like the cabbage-thing from the formating thread
