Ody is right

You have no way of knowing which is true north or east so you have to destroy your chart and stop working on what door leads to what.

And you are all starving to death now.(No. not really)

Ody - Why do you continue to make suggestions to the DM of your demise?

If we were playing around the table, you'd see the map and do the same thing so I figure may as well online. It is not easy and it can be so frustrating as to end the game if you don't get a little direction.

And.............

Well the food from the first room did not disappear and the weapons did not disappear so this seems to be more a room by room thing.

The items the bodies had in the tent could have come from other rooms.

So we should figure what stays and what goes. If we get back to room one then that food can travel and if we plan revisits to replenish then we have travel food. Provided the food in that room replenished.

And why couldn't we just leave the whole place by going back out the door we came in from the island?

True....

I'm just suggesting we do it more like around table. We aren't able to say "north" accurately but we will know landmarks.

And how do we know you aren't planning to starve us. We'd have to figure out that the food is only good in that room. The ones eaten by the rats may have been too weak to defend themselves any more. And didn't get to the table quick enough to get food for energy to fight. Or they just gave up.

If I wanted you dead ....

I would make next portal lead to a room with a dragon, a lich, three beholder and a mariachi band of drow-vampire-cheerleader-warriors in it.

Trust me, I'm a DM.

but seriously

An adventure in RPG should be like playing a book and who wants to play a book where characters die every few pages due to overwhelming odds, traps and betrayal? Other than George Martin?

It is all about balance.

What about me?

Sure I got blue arms...So what, that does not make me a bad wanna kill you all DM.

That's Olan

Crow looks at it this way, each room is a different type of magic specific to that room. So what happens in one room, like being allowed to leave armed in one room does not mean that will always be the case.

As for direction though he is a Ranger and a possible good tracker above ground, underground he sucks.

Pretty much why he just follows the others............

weird

About not reading the posts: I reread your two posts twice and I have missed that line about the empty pack every time... must be something in my brain.

Or you put that phrase there afterwards! Aha! <--- look, it's a wink, I'm joking.

About the portals: lets do some more room hopping and see where that leads us.

Perhaps we could try another theory...

I'd be curious to see if some of the portals in areas mirror each other.

From the cat's mouth, it would seem that the E portal in the throne room will lead back to the Wine Cellar (I'm assuming we'll enter the cellar through the N portal).

The mirror here is:
Area 2/W Portal leads to Area 6/S Portal
Area 6/E Portal leads to Area 2/N Portal

Edit: ...Sorry... needed to edit as I messed up the directions there...

Anyway, I wonder if we might find similar connections between other rooms.

ok

Well remember there is a tacky throne room, giant skulls and the suggestion they mighht move and talk. I don't see how Wembley or Dudley could stand still.

Really?

Huh?! I didn't even see that throne there. Has that been there the whole time, or did you just add that?
