Possibility of Pathfinder?

I've been itching to play Pathfinder again for awhile now. Would anyone be willing to host a game, and if not, is anyone interested in a little one shot scenario (might turn into campaign if interest is high) that I've had kicking around involving Goblins?

.

I peronally love Pathfinder, and if enough interest is sparked, I might join in.

Boom goes the dynamite!

Count me In sparkey!!!

That would be awesome. I would offer to GM except I have never GM'd a play post game. I'm not familiar with the protocol,... but I could wing it,... GM'd plenty of IRL games.

That said I'd much rather be a player for at least my first go.

*raises an eyebrow*

I *might* be inclined to GM a game, but I've never played in Pathfinder, only 3.5.

So tell me, what are the major differences/changes?

Differences and changes?

I've never played 3.5, but from what I know Pathfinder took a lot from it. I couldn't tell you what the exact differences are but I could shoot you a link through PM to a website that has literally everything you need to know about it.

Keep in mind if no one feels like GM'ing, I'll gladly take the reigns! If someone else wants to I'll gladly be a player!

SOOO Kamina is GMing,....

Yes my plan has worked perfectly,... M'yessss!

And Pathfinder is VERY 3.5 friendly. Kissing cousins of each other. The two practically match. Just Think of it as 3.75 or 4th edition as it always should have been.

heh

Can't resist... to me, 4th edition will always be a MMORPG on paper.

Diplomatic Ctitique of Certian Rollplaying Systems,...

4th edition will always be a MMORPG on paper.

A trifle smiplified,...

,...But I agree none the less! The game was designed to appeal to players of WoW- But It can NEVER be an MMORPG. It was a terrible compromise to both games and will forever go down as monumental blunder.

4th Edition Dungeons & Dragons will go down in history as the least played edition EVAAAAR!

And Wotc knows it. If I was on the creative team for 4th I wold be shaking my head facepalming myself on a regular schedual crying "what were we thinking?"

I wonder how close WotC came to going belly up after that? I mean If Fearless Leader Hasbro wasn't there to bail them out?

A trifle simplified?

In my opinion, Fourth Edition is beyond simplified. It's a board game. Me and a group of friends can whip up characters and start playing in less than 15 minutes!

Therein is where I start loving Pathfinder more, and what makes me want to try older editions of Dungeons and Dragons. You actually need to think about your character, especially if you want them to survive past the third level. (In Pathfinder anyways)

But yes Finn, I'll Gm a game if no one else wishes

Anyone see that episode of South Park where,...

George Lucas & Steven Spielberg um,... With Indiana Jones and,... that Storm Trooper,... Yeah well THATS how I feel about 4th Edition.

A lot of mental scaring and cold showers taken in the fetal position.

3rd Edition D&D or more specifically the D20 OGL Roleplaying system (of which Pathfinder is a proud member) will be forever and always my favorite way to roll dice and pretend with my friends. Regardless of setting!(High Fantasy, Western, Eastern, Space Opera, Scifi, Horror, Steampunk, Post-Apocolyptic, Modern,... you name it!)

To those of you out there that love 4th Edition D&D,... I'm not sorry for what I've said, but I do support and tolerate( by the way tolerate means live and let live NOT accept and condone) your right to enjoy yourself and let your nerd flag fly, in anyway you choose. May you have many happy hours playing in the sweet cold embrace of your Dark overlords at Hasbro.

With Love,

Finn

Yep

I'm an unapologetic curmudgeon who still prefers 2e, but I find the entire d20 system to be solid. It's not perfect, but no system is... And I like how it's easy to run Star Wars, modern, etc, without having to completely learn a new rule set.

But enough of that. Enjoy your game, guys.

noooooooooooo

pathfinder is definitely not like 4th. The differences between pathfinder and 3.5 is that the PC's are a bit stronger, as they get Feats every other level instead of every 3. They also have almost all the same skills, except for stealth (which is move silently, hide, and I think sleight of hands all rolled in one), and Perception (which is spot and listen, but can also be used for any other ways you can perceive things).

Also the classes are a bit more balaned, a fighter isn't as weak at higher levels as a spellcaster is.

The thing is though, the monsters are all a bit stronger too, to compensate. So it all balances out.

Nooo? huh? What? But I like Pathfinder,...

I agree with all the things you just said Jozan,...

Did you think we were bashing Pathfinder or (heaven forbid) my precious 3.5? Blasphemy!!!!

.

No no, i was just maknig sure people didn't think that it was like 4th :p

If no no one wants to DM, if you give me some time I might be able to come up with a simple one shot just to get something going. I've been wanting to DM for a while, I'm just hesitant since I don't have the best track record for reliability. But my schedule isn't so crazy anymore, I'm thinking that I can find the time to at least do this.

Sounds good Jozan! Haven't played Pathfinder in forever, I've been GM'ing it lately so this'll be great
