The Sword Breaker?

So I've been thinking about making a character that makes use of a sword breaker. However in looking it up, I've come across multiple entries on the weapon, but the only thing they can agree upon is that there is some kind of a benefit to sundering and disarming swords.

So for those of you's out there who do use sword breakers, or DM's with characters that use them... What rules do you use?

System? Edition?

General rule for 3.x iirc is +2 sunder/disarm, as +2 seems the basic competency bonus for anything under that system.

Other systems...we might be getting a little more abstract.

Sorry :/

3.5 is what I'm looking for.

What I have been able to find has a split from +2 to +4 for the bonus, 1d3-1d6 dmg, some say it deals slashing damage, others bludgeoning...
Some say that it ignores some hardness of what it is sundering.

Each entry I've found is different. So I was hoping that there is some unified entry out there somewhere.

DM

Another question is 'Are You the DM' or are you developing a character for a game where there 'Is Someone Else the DM' ???

If you are the DM then You can Decide the Ruling!

If you are developing a Character then You are at the Mercy of the Ruling of Whoever is the DM for the Game!

...

I'm developing the character, for a freeform rules based game... And the DM isn't here ATM to be able to ask...

Our normal rule of thumb is that if we can show the rules we can do it. But in this case I just don't know which one is a real rule, and which is someone else's homebrew. It is a common enough RL medieval weapon that you would think that there would be some rules for it...

I just found another entry that puts the damage type at piercing and a threat range of 10-20x2. That is now all three damage types... *sigh*

?

The sword breaker is just a short sword that has notches on the one side... isn't it? Because if that is the case wouldn't it follow the same basic stats as that of the short sword? Just with the added bonus for disarm/sunder?

from the Pathfinder supplement "Armory" which would be 3.5 compatible for the most part

Swordbreaker Dagger: You can use this dagger to
disarm or sunder enemy blades by catching them
in the grooves on the back of the blade and
using your weapon as a lever. If you are
proficient with this weapon, add +4 on your
disarm or sunder attempts against bladed weapons.

Swordbreaker dagger 10 gp 1d3 (for small character) 1d4 (medium character) ×2 crit — 3 lbs. Slashing
