-Background and History

Beatrix Dyster was born on the hellworld of Yeremyh, Concord subsector of the Solomani Rim. A poor, desert place with no natural occurence of water and a terribly thin and tainted atmosphere, she was lucky enough to belong to a reasonably successful family. Although not really wealthy, the woman lived her whole childhood and early teen years in comfortable dome complexes near the planet's capital.

Her father worked as a broker of some renown, with people often going out of their way of main trading routes to trade for his goods. Eventually he gathered enough funds to move the family to the immensely more hospitable planet of Suleiman, nearby subsector capital.

She was always fascinated by the numerous and wildly different ships that came and went during her visits to the starport. It wasn’t long before Bee (as her family nicknamed her) found her way into the ranks of young aspiring pilots, when a friend and old client of her father helped getting her into the Imperial Navy’s Flight College.

Dyster, as she came to be called amongst the military, was one of the most promising and successful graduates, a couple years later. Still, she first served as crewman Ensign amonst non-combat vessels throughout the Empire before being assigned a Helm position. As soon as that happened, though, she quickly rose through the Navy’s hierarchy and demonstrated her outstanding pilot skills, as well as her aptitude for Astrogation and bridge command.

She passed more than a decade piloting for the Imperium, getting to know hundreds of systems as she helmed patrols, fought pirates and contacted new alien species. Her superiors often took interest on her career, not rarely impressed by her skill, and it wasn’t hard to achieve Commander rank as she matured.

On the late years of Beatrix’s service, her response to a dire situation secured her reputation once and for all. On a routine event near Antares, a malfunction caused her vessel to misjump. Although the problem was quickly fixed, the ship was suddenly tossed into hostile territory: a raiding fleet was in the vicinity, and they wouldn’t miss on the opportunity to seize a Navy Starship with several officers and resources. Not only so, but the leftover fuel was enough to but a single extra jump; a second misjump could leave them stranded, or worse. The criminals were fast to react, and the nearby barges promptly shot at their ship. Although Beatrix took quick evasive maneuvers, a minor hull breach occurred, and the Chief Astrogator was hit by debris and had to be taken to the infirmary.

Without a specialized Astrogator, under fire and low on fuel, it seemed like a lost case for the Imperials. Commander Dyster, however, managed to accomplish the impossible. Calculating the coordinates for the jump herself, as swiftly as she could, she readied the jump faster than ever, eluding the raiders before any major damage could be done. That act alone earned her the Starbust for Extreme Heroism, and in a couple weeks her name was in the tongues of entire sectors for her bravery and excellence in service.

Beatrix retired from Naval service shortly after, sent away with honours and being offered a retainer position. In a few months she set away for Regina, hoping to find new places to put her abilities to good use.

-Physical Description

Clad in her light cloth armor, this lithe figure of a woman manages to impose respect by presence. At just above some 5'6'' and 123lbs, Dyster exudes an aura of confidence that by far surpasses her physical imponence.

She walks with adamant conviction, her greaves clanging with unseen weight each time her feet lightly waver through the floor; her cloth flowing haphazardly with her advance. Still, for all the certainty of purpose and confidence of her stride, there is a certain restrained poise in her movements; an elegance that may not always be apparent at glance, but quickly pronounces itself as one observes the pilot.

Her visage would be often found covered, in part at least, by a high-tech shading lens which always seemed to appear with different opacities. Still it wouldn't be hard to gaze upon her harmonious features: the woman's bright azure gaze centered the countenance of someone who felt still in her earnest years, a spark of life and joy holding an infinite curiosity behind its color.

There was an exotic allure to her appearance. The lower half of the woman's face would be interesting enough: a strong, yet still feminine jaw outlined her elliptical semblance; a barely prominent chin created contrast with somewhat pronounced cheekbones outlining Beatrix's face where her hairline did not. Two penetrating, yet serene crystal gazes centered her form in cunning, almost catlike eyes, whilst her eyebrows slanted downwards from a high-arching outer half to an almost mischievous look in the middle, which descended towards a thin, slightly up-turned nose sitting above a pair of full rose lips. Her short, dark black hair concluded the semblance, cascading downwards around her head to end not long after the jawline, with a thick bang elegantly curving around her face, covering half of it before snipping outwards.

Background and History
D'Len McCallum was born to M’Lan (father), and Sval’T (mother) McCallum on a fairly standard High Technology Imperial world.

D’Len’s home world was a central hub for the trade lanes and because of that people from all over the sector were coming and going. D’Len was always trying to learn more of the Imperium so he learned at a young age a smattering of many languages and the proper use of comms.

D’Len excelled at school, but wasn’t happy with the confining nature of a crowded planet. As soon as he turned 18, he left his parents, taking the shuttle across the high port looking for work.
There was a free trader looking for a new worker, and D’Len signed on.

He thought he had signed on to the wrong crew though when his captain came under the scrutiny of the Imperial police. The entire crew were up on charges of smuggling. D’Len did some investigating though and found the evidence clearing their names. Were it not for D’Len’s investigative work they all would have been sent to prison.

Upon gaining rank at the end of his first term D’Len signed on for a second term of service.

The crew was having a run of especially good luck, and the captain was of the mind that their luck was going to change for the worse and soon. D’Len didn’t think so. So the crew got together and made some bets as to how their luck would run. D’Len was one of the ones who came out on top. At the end of that term the captain owed D’Len a few extra benefits.

When the end of the term came D’Len decided he wanted to do less trading and see more of the Galaxy. So when they reached a port with a Scout base he signed off the crew and signed up with the IISS.

The IISS recruiter felt that the Courier service was the best fit with D’Len because he would captain his own ship and be able to see as much of the known galaxy as possible.
In his first term working as a courier he was sent to deliver messages to some of the alien races along the Imperium border. While delivering these messages D’Len found out about Alien troop movements, and plans to annex a few Imperial worlds. Needless to say the Captain of the Imperial Cruiser in charge of defending this sector was quite happy to have this knowledge.

D’Len continued to serve with the IISS, and his travels sent him to the fringe. Fearing that he would be kept on the fringe D’Len was going to muster out of the Scout service, but there had been a major shakeup in the IISS and they were short in couriers. When he went to hand in his resignation it was refused. He was promoted and sent back to work.

Because of the shortage in scout agents there were some department intermixing, and D’Len wasn’t exempt from that. He was sent to do a planetary survey on an alien world. Though a little out of his area of expertise he enjoyed the work and gained some proficiency in riding animals.

Finally after completing his 12th year of service with the IISS and due to the extensive recruiting campaign he was able to retire. Before retiring D’Len received a final promotion for his dutiful and extensive service with the IISS.

Background and History During his first term as a scientist at the University of Tanika, Fern was reassigned to study the ecology of the ocean planet Tethys. There he resided for some time, finding particular interest in the intelligence of certain icthyological species.

While on assignment, he was approached by an unusual man who called himself Benjamin Factre, who promised to fund any and all research Fern would do for the next four years if he would participate in a side project, the details of which were to be kept under wraps. Of course Fern accepted; as any scientist knows the hardest part about field work was getting the money to continue. He labored under the watchful eye of Factre, and at the end of his term the man made the same offer again.

By this time it was becoming apparent to Fern that while his heart lay at the bottom of the aquamarine seas of Tethys, the people of that world were in desperate need of good doctors. He agreed to do further research for Factre, but split his time between science and medicine. Upon discovering this, Factre was outraged. The funding would not continue, he said, unless Fern spent all his time working for him.

Fern chose his humanity over his passion, a selfless act that permenantly broke his relationship with the benefactor. Most of his fourth term was spent as a doctor, although his curiosity still held. He was on the verge of breakthrough. His experiments became late-night excursions into the depths, lunch-hour calculations on greasy napkins.

Then one day it happened. Just a single gene solved the problem that had nagged at Fern's mind for nearly a decade. The coming months found Fern in seclusion on the ocean floor, his only companions the fish. There it seemed every calculation Fern had made bore out in experiment. If Factre had held on just a little while longer they could share in this discovery. Now it was to belong to just one man, a wiry scientist who had not so long ago graduated from The University of Tanika.
