I found Old Froth 'n' Slosh!

Check this out, I went to a BBQ joint today and I found a genuine can of Olde Frothingslosh, the pale stale ale with the foam on the bottom! Click the picture for a zoom!

You All Thought I Made That Up.........

It is from the Pittsburgh Brewing Company. It started as a joke commercial for a morning radio show many years ago. (Regis John "Rege" Cordic: Morning drive-time radio host in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; from the late 1950s to the mid-1980s)

Olde Frothingslosh[edit]

One of Cordic's most memorable running gags at both WWSW and KDKA were fake advertisements for "Olde Frothingslosh", "the pale stale ale with the foam on the bottom." The beer was supposedly brewed by Sir Reginald Frothingslosh at Upper Crudney-on-the-Thames. In 1955, Pittsburgh Brewing Company began issuing special Christmas-season cans and bottles of Olde Frothingslosh filled with real beer. Since the Cordic ad read "The foam is on the bottom", the bottles & cans were packed upside down in the cases. The humorous labels changed every year and became favorites of collectors. The brewery (as well as a few other small local Pittsburgh breweries such as Tech Beer) released new editions of Olde Frothingslosh even after Cordic left Pittsburgh, continuing until 1982 and then reviving the brand in 1998, and more recently in 2007 (currently available)

My father was an "Iron City" beer drinker so that's how I first saw it as a youngster.

I changed the spelling to avoid any copyright issues. But seeing it is only in text and not a product for sale I doubt if it would be an issue.

Well I'll be darned

I must say I have never heard of this stuff, living too far away from Pittsburgh, but I always love a bit of local trivia here and there!

I personally thought for sure, Odyson, that you had just made that up. Must have been a lot of fun to bring Froth'n'Slosh into the inn like that.

Schnozzle, that really is a terrific find you've stumbled upon!

BottomsUp.......

Well it was something from my past that felt right to bring to the present.

Now there has been at least one drink brought up by someone in chat, they asked for a "Screaming Viking", so there room for more. Perhasp some "Killer Bee Meade", "Blood-and-Sand Cocktail", "Kiss In The Dark", "Grugg Grog" and so many more..........
