So, Olan and I are talking about the Inn and where we would like to take it. We recognize that the inn is getting a bit old and needs to be re-vamped. So with a little nagging and some coding, we are going to try to move forward on this instead of standing still (I got the nagging job!).

So we would like to hear from you. What would you like to see from the Red Dragon Inn? What would you change if you could? What would bring the players to the site?

In the end, Olan and I want the Inn to be like an actual inn. A place to go, meet friends, play some games and talk about things related to gaming and the like. So please - talk to us.

I am Not a Technology Person and for some reason my last two or three laptops have Not Allowed me into the Chat Rooms at the Inn.

i'm in agreeance with hammer. most of the things i'd suggest for updates focus on chat rather then the forum posts.

i'm not sure what is plausible or not for upgrades.

But i know from trying to host the rp chat games, that many were reluctant to join because of the chats refresh 'flicker' an its general insatiability with larger numbers of inmates chatting.

one thing i found was when in chat doing an rp game it would be nice to have a way to access chat history.

Even if its a specific DM(host) option or type of room opened as a game room Vs a regular chat room.

i know we're urged to vote for the inn but other then the odd new game theirs little to catch or hold the attention of the passers through.

i'm not sure what kinds of interactivity would could dredge up other then a flashing sign saying we feed trolls to fred or a few quizzes?

Flickerchat's replacement is already all but done. The subject thing is on the list.

I'm also looking at a very cool little piece of code to make it so much easier to post to (or follow) forum threads. But let me perfect it before I talk about it.

The ability to see posts from other people while you are posting... so you can see other game posts you are trying to respond to.

The ability to roll dice within a game post.

More content on Audalis, and perhaps a forum for fan-fiction and additional content that can be added by inn-members.

For the most part, the Inn is pretty well-stocked. Improvements, to me, would be more aesthetic than anything.

What I might suggest an expanded link to available emoticons in the window where we right messages; something like a button or tool that can open up a small window on the same page, perhaps a drop-down or something, rather than having them all lined up at the bottom of the screen.

This is just an inquiry, nothing serious or amazing. I'll post more when I have more ideas or when things come to me. Can't wait to see what you guys have in your vault of ideas!

Bring back the comics. I always looked forward to them.

I like a lot of things about the place.

I did like the comics - it would be cool if we had people who could do that. I'd offer my talents in this if I actually had any talent in this. But I don't.

As has been suggested already, the ability to see other peoples posts when writing your own would be helpful. As is, I usually write mine in word so that I can see things, then copy it into the thread. But that means redoing all the formatting. I guess that could be adjusted also.

And . . . chat room. I've never done the chat room. I need to check that out. And a game in the chat room? That could be cool. I think I'm headed to the chat room right now. See! It is already improving!

And can't get chat to work - will try again tomorrow. Maybe it is the work laptop.

Currently if you have a popup clocker, you have to disable it for rdinn.net. Otherwise, chat won't open for you.

Would it be possible to list PM in newest to oldest?

Currently we have enter PM and click on last past page number and scroll to the end.

Not a biggy but would be quicker, especially if we are checking on a smart phone.

I don't know others use it but I have found the ability to search posts by person very helpful. So please keep that. If I'm not sure of a detail from a past post it makes the search much easier. I can click on their icon and when it goes to their info page I click on recent posts. Scoll search takes a bit but so much easier than paging back through stories.

I don't know if that ability is listed as a helpful hint, but it should be.

Well I just went searching for what would be concidered "Helpful Hints" for posting and manuvering through the Inn and we don't really seem to have it in one easy place. Things get posted in the "Common Room" but your still need to know the thread to find it and review.

Archive's "Other" tells of formating but what about other ideas? Like the one I just said about searching old post by person. Where would it go so it was intuitive to look there?

I would guess others have found such things that they use to enable them to post more in sync with others. DM's need quick ways to check facts and review posts. These tools are handy and an easy to find location on "How To" would be great.

Folks talked about their troubles with Chat; did we have a centrol place other then a post in the common room to suggest help ideas and make it easy to find.

Maybe a "Helpful Hints" drop down would be a good centrol place. It could be broken into sections such as "Chat","Posting","Searching". Folks could post their hints there and it could build to a good "User's Tool".

I would love to bring back the comics but to do comics you need artists and that is where things break down. With Hobart, Britney had RL issues to deal with and had to stop drawing. Bromern has a large family and work that has to take priority so Mythbreakers stalled as well. It takes a lot of time to draw these works - I just do the writing which is easy. I am loathed to bring in another artist to do something when there is so much personality put into the comic.

So the long and short of it is we could do comics if we could get artists. But no one really wants to work for free.
