Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine, Main Engineering - 1218 ~ 1228

Dana gave the chief a sedative in a leg right ready to trash and kick. The good doctor nodded to Reynolds who likewise threw her strength in to hold the patient still. The mountain of a man had strength, and a mechanical arm, coupled with a seizure any further calamities were entirely possible.

Soon the sedation calmed the physical nerves, enough for Louise to edge around and slap a neural sensor array at the base of Thorson's neck. Wiping out a tricorder, she began reviewing the telemetry. "I would increase dosage, 20 mm, Cook. Reynolds, not too tight on that shoulder. He could have sympathetic reactions."

Dana nodded and reset the dosage as directed by the Dr and reapplied the hypospray. As she did this she looked up at Nurse Reynolds and said, "Watch that arm. Don't get near it even if he seems out of it."

(FYI Nurse Reynolds is female. )

"He's easing, but I wouldn't consider us far from the woods." The doctor said as she monitored her tricorder. "The sensors show his mind is quite a hub of activity, but the responses on those neurons from the arm, it's a strange mess of signals. I'm a tad bit out of my depth when it comes to the mechanics of those pistons, the cyber arrays, and these neural responders."

"Dana," she offered across her tricorder as she heard the arrival of Zai. "Keep monitoring him, any fluctuation, hit him up with another dose then shift this inhibitor." She tapped at the screen. "It should be enough to keep the arm from flailing and hurting himself or others."

Dana came to her feet and accepted the tricorder and nodded, "Yes Doctor."

Straightening her longcoat, Louise neared Zai as he took stock and asked what more could be done.

As the good Doctor turned to address the XO and a new comer. Dana followed the Doctor's directions as she herself studied the tricorder. She shook her head at the jumble of readings which didnt make sense unless you had a mechanical arm and a seizure she guessed. She handed the hypospray to Reynolds and had her reset the hypo and to stand ready to administer another shot if she saw any fluctuations that would indicate any troubles.

Tapping her comm, the Doctor ordered a hover stretcher and restraints to help take Thorson to medical. "Sick Bay with us. Let's keep the chief most comfortable and start analyzing this data."

In minutes Petty Officer Adama arrived along with Crewman Patel and the hover stretcher and restraints. They carefully moved the Chief Engineer to the stretcher and restrained him there making sure the mechanical arm was securely fastened. Dana monitored the tricorder readings ready to give the word to Nurse Reynolds to hit him again with the sedative.

Once he was secure the group began to move the patient to the Sickbay. Dana followed behind keeping a close eye on the readings as they moved to the turbolift and then into Sickbay. There they would move the patient to one of the Medical Beds and again secure him down for his and everyone's safety.

USS Peregrine, Crew Mess - 1205

(OOC: Ody. There would be 3 nurses at least in the mess when John walked in there but since Reynolds was still in Sickbay with Dana that leaves only 1 female. PO Adama and Crewman Patel are both males. Only Miraan would have been there when John came in. Also Adama and Patel will arrive in engineering to assist with moving Chief Thorson so only Miraam would be there when he walked out. I will work with that.)

Peter Adama happened to look up as a Lt had walked into the Mess hall and smiled in the direction of his table. Peter looked around and saw that Vinay Patel had noticed it too. The two of them raised an eyebrow at each other and shrugged before going back to their meals.

Miraan the very lovely and voluptuous Ardanan female nurse bounced over with a tray of food and plopped down between the two male nurses.

"Well," Miraan said as she looked at her tray, "at least the food isnt that bad. I've had worse." She began to dig into her meal with gusto as if she had skipped a meal or two.

The other two nurses chuckled and continued eating and Adama and Miraan listened at Vinay told them of some of what they could expect on this ship. He told them of how PO Cook was a bit of a hard case as they had already seen but she was also fair and took on alot of the tough jobs herself. She ran a tight ship he said but she didnt ask anything of her subordinates that she herself was not willing to give.

PO Adama and Crewman Patel finished there meal and rose to put away their trays. Miraan was still working on hers so she remained seated.

"You guys go ahead," Miraan said to them, "I'll be along shortly."

"OK," Adama responded as he and Patel headed for the door, "Best hurry as I am sure PO Cook has something else for use to do as part of our orientation."

Miraan decided that another dessert was in order and went to get another helping and a glass of milk.

Rising from the table Lt. John Reid pulled tunic tight to straighten his dress uniform and remembered the nurses. John lifted his glass of milk and chugged the last remnants. Turning to their table he flashed them a bright milk mustache smile and nodded, "Ma'am."

Chuckling to himself he strode out grabbing a small napkin as he passed out the door to the gangway. Wiping the milk from his lip he headed back to his quarters to get some sleep before reporting for duty.

Miraan reached up and brushed a curly lock of her red hair from her face and smiled after the handsome LT as she watched him with her vibrant hazel green eyes.

"Who is that?" she asked with a wonderous tone to no one in particular. She would have to find out.

"Well now," Miraan said as she rose with her tray to put it away, "Perhaps I should see about scheduling the physical for that LT myself."

Putting her tray away she straightened her uniform and exited the mess hall headed back towards the Sickbay.

(Edit: Slight change to Ody's part of the post. Nothing major. Carry on! )

Dont......look.... dont..look.. Crap I looked!

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine, Bridge - 12:30

Haemis followed Tochi from the lift onto the bridge, he had taken but a moment to try and compose himself before stepping onto the bridge. His anxiety was still apparent but he seemed to take things in stride showing a bit of relief. "I..." he swallowed his words. "I appreciate what your say'n an I know I've got to make me own way here." he blinked looking off for a moment as they approached the Captain's Ready Room door. "That ship..." he looked back down to the floor as if searching for the words. "Twas a bit of a nightmare." he said quietly. "An ye start to believe'n things, because ye are given no other choice." he stared at the door, it was like staring into the den of a dragon, and he felt like a knight with no armor. Let alone a reflective shield of any kind. He nodded, watching Tochi hit the ringer on the Captains Ready room door.

He heard the Captain signal them to come in, the beating of his own heart between his ears was growing louder. He could even feel it as they entered the room. He began to sweat again, his palms slick. His hands were shaking but he came to attention all the same, and waited for fire.

He didn't dare meet the mans eyes, he wasn't too sure what he would find. Haemis hadn't been this scared of a person since his survival stint at the Academy. He slipped as Tochi and the Captain conversed and did for but a brief moment meet the Captain's eyes but he immediately went right back to staring straight ahead at the wall.

((OOC: Sorry for my short absence, I got tied up with a couple of things for the last week. But I'm back. ))

Time to launch: T minus 30 minutes and counting.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine; Bridge - 1230

"I, I appreciate what your say'n, an I know I've got to make me own way here," the engineering officer said, sounding perhaps a bit less tentative, now, but not much.

Tochi glanced, sidelong, at the lieutenant but said nothing; offering only the faintest of nods in response.

"That ship..." McTavish's gaze fell the floor, then, as if he were searching for the proper words to best express his thoughts, ",Twas a bit of a nightmare..."

We can only imagine, the Trill mused, reflecting on what he had come to learn about and experience from Captain Jacobs in recent hours. Commander Farr was much better at masking the tension than you are, Mr McTavish, but it was there nonetheless. The Coronado seems to be a nightmare for more than you alone, especially under Capt Jacobs.

",An ye start to believe'n things, because ye are given no other choice."

"All ships and crews have their moments, we suppose," Tochi offered diplomatically, "With luck, Lieutenant, you'll find fewer of those moments here than you did aboard the Coronado.

As to choice," he continued, "Whether we feel permission is given or not, we all still have them to make."

"Come in."

When Drake granted permission to enter, at that moment, Tochi cued the door and led the way into the Captain's ready room with McTavish following closely (albeit still somewhat tentatively) behind. Captain Drake regarded Tochi, then, for an instant, shifted his gaze to the unfamiliar face of the gold-clad lieutenant flanking the Trill, before addressing his XO; "Something to report, Lt Zai?"

"Yes, Captain. We're sure that you're aware of the situation in Engineering," Zai began, continuing on even as Silas nodded his confirmation, "LtCmdr Thorson is currently under sedation and en route to Sick Bay. Dr Moore didn't say as much, sir, but we got the distinct impression that his situation is serious if not grave and, as such, pending transfer to the Medical facilities aboard SB 118, has been relieved of duty,"

"Has Lt Morgan been put in command of Engineering, then," Drake queried knowingly, his eyes flitting once more to the rather nevous looking engineer flanking his XO.

"No, sir," Tochi answered, "Conveniently, just as the Med-team was attending to Commander Thorson, Lt McTavish, here, arrived with transfer orders from the Coronado. As the lieutenant is, currently, the ranking officer in the department, per protocol, we took the liberty of assigning him as interim Chief of Engineering."

"I see," Drake nodded, his gaze, somewhat more curious (perhaps even suspicious), now, was locked on to McTavish, yet he continued to address his XO. "Will the damage delay our departure, Lt Zai?"

Tochi shook his head. "No, sir. No major systems were affected and thankfully, the damage was not what it could have been. Crews have already been assigned to repair details and, with the proper shunts around the console that was destroyed, we shouldn't lose a minute."

"Good," the Captain said, taking his eyes off of McTavish for the moment and fixing them, once more, on his XO, "We have less than thirty minutes before we are scheduled to depart, Lt Zai; I'd like you at the CONN when we do. If there is anything you need to attend to in that time, I suggest you do so, now."

"Aye, sir."

"You are dismissed, Lieutenant."

"Thank you, sir," Tochi nodded before turning to stride back onto the bridge.

He felt McTavish's desire to follow along in his wake, too, but, as the ready room door whisked away before him and he stepped out onto the Peregrine's bridge, he heard Captain Drake take the wind out of those particular sails,

"Mr McTavish," Silas said flatly, just before the door shut behind the withdrawing XO, "Stay a moment, if you will. Have a seat,"

Best of luck, Mister McTavish, Tochi offered silently, pausing just outside the door and surveying the activity on the bridge for a moment. He sighed, then, and straightening his uniform, moved purposefully toward the Big Chair.

"Lt Moriden," he called, settling himself into the command seat, "Status report, if you please."

"All systems nominal, sir." ~wheeze~ "Engineering reports ODN shunts in place and repairs proceeding. Crew transfers have been processed and quarters billeted save for one Lt,"

"Haemis McTavish," Tochi interjected, "Send his jacket to my console, and to Captain Drake's ready room, please."

~wheeze~ "Aye, sir." The Benzite woman funneled McTavish's dossier as requested and noted that Tochi was already reviewing the thing even as she continued her report; "Medical reports Commander Thorson stabilized and being prepped for transport pending Dr Moore's approval. Updates from Security are available on your console; nothing of note."

"Thank you, Lieutenant," Lt Zai nodded, not looking up from his perusal of McTavish's service record before calling on Ens P'Tammah; "Vaela?"

"Gravitational and umbilical support from the Starbase cycling down, sir," the Andorian replied, "Peregrine's current pull from external systems is 48.7% and falling, she'll be ready to fly at 1300 for sure."

"And the Coronado?"

"Same situation," Vaela answered, "they started off-cycling base support several minutes ahead of us, however. It looks like they'll beat us out of the gate, as the saying goes."

"As it should be," Tochi couldn't help but smirk, And, likely, just the way that Jacobs wants it.

((OOC: Okay, just a little something to get things moving, again - as much as we've all come to enjoy Ody's snoring - Nothing major, just depositing McTavish in Drake's lap and trying to "tie a bow" on a few things. Liberties taken with the Drake dialogue and actions, of course, edits if necessary. Also, as always, room for interjections, interactions, and the like, throughout the post (or, at least, once Tochi emerges from the ready room), Let's get back to posting, folks! It's been toooooo long!))

Consider this a sidebar...

Stardate 2365.02.08
SB18; Temporary Starfleet Quarters, Deck 15 - 1230

To like one's assignment is to be content and contentment leads to complacency. These are the teachings of Duelist Bal Th'shahros and they speak to the heart of Andorian principles. Asovil remembers being inundated with the teachings of Duelist Bal Th'shahros from the time she could understand what her older brothers educators were speaking about. Some of the fondest memories she has involved being chased from the classroom for being a nuisance to Sevar, and then to Tethaas when he came of age. It wasn't until she had entered the classroom herself that the importance of the solemn attention to education was drilled home. And oh how that attentiveness had paid off. At least, until now.

Asovil Sh'iraolnas' temporary bunk was on the outer mezzanine, a privilege afforded officers and dignitaries. While being a junior grade lieutenant usually would have still placed her in an interior facing room, she had been bumped up to an exterior position due to amount of traffic the starbase was experiencing and the number of enlisted personnel that were currently aboard. The operations officer who had issued her assignment hadn't known why she was pending transfer and she hadn't been forth-coming with the information, but she knew she didn't deserve the view. She certainly hadn't earned it.

Space is a cold and unforgiving place to most, but not to her. Asovil liked the cold. Most Andorians did. But Asovil also liked the unknown that Space held, the discovery, the predictable unpredictability of it all. Science had rules, structure, and pattern, but there was still so much to be discovered that there was nothing dry about her work. Passion was the word she would use for it had she any friends to share such thoughts with. Friendship was difficult for Asovil in the more relaxed society of the Federation's Starfleet. The Andorian Imperial Guard had not shown her how to be relaxed. In the face of socializing with fellow Starfleet shipmates, the tall, blue-skinned, antennaed woman often fell short. Even in the privacy of her own quarters she found herself standing at the window in properly pressed pants-uniform (she despised the dress version), her hands clasped firmly into the small of her back, her feet exactly shoulder width apart.

The blue of her uniform played nicely with the softer blue tones of her smooth skin and her shoulder-length white hair fell loose about her neck as though in defiance of her militaristic demeanor. Her brothers had been forced to defend her right to the life of a single woman back home on many an occasion as she was thought to be quite pretty, but she rarely bothered herself with more than making sure her appearance met regulation and reflected well upon her superiors and the organization she represented. This habit was something she picked up back at the Andorian School of Science and Arts and she carries it with her to every new assignment.

The position of her window was placed just so that she could see the rear of the engine lacels belonging to the Peregrine. Glancing down at the PADD in her hand, Asovil reviewed the transfer orders that had finally come through. They hadn't changed. She didn't expect them to. She was to await orders to report to the Peregrine where-upon she would take command of the science department and act as a member of the command staff. Some might think of this as an exciting assignment. Asovil felt it was a slap in the face. After all, she was being reassigned from the Equinox, a Nova-Class science vessel, to the Peregrine; a Saber-Class escort with no real science purpose. She had been relegated to an auxiliary position of little importance from one where she was constantly involved in cutting-edge work. And for what? She still didn't fully understand the reason for her transfer. The circumstances were beyond her logic. The only thing she could do was accept her assignment and turn her skills from scientific pursuits to supporting, what? Supporting what? What exactly did a science officer do on board an escort vessel?

Catching her reflection in the window, Asovil studies the cut of her collar, the one black pip in back of a gold pip that represented her rank, and the frown on her face. She had roughly one half of an hour to report, and she couldn't put the responsibility off any longer. Looking back to the PADD, her brow furrowed at the last line on the orders: Last minute transfer. She hopes that Operations had been made aware of her arrival and that everything was in order. She disliked things that weren't in order.

"Computer," she initiates dryly, only proceeding once the responding beep indicated that the system was awaiting her orders. "Inform the Peregrine that I am on my way. I'll be there in ten-minutes."

WHAT?!?!

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine; Bridge - 1235

~wheeze~,~wheeze~

"Lt Zai, sir?" Moriden's call for the XO's attention had a certain hesitant quality to it. Duty required that she pass the content up the chain of command but her sense of efficiency and, above that, pride in her accuracy almost made her wish that wasn't the case, especially given the sudden upheaval aboard ship that had been the last thirty-six hours. This transmission, in fact, would only add to that turmoil but, in spite of that, no,. because of that, the transmission had to be relayed up-channel, she just wasn't sure she wanted to be the one to relay it.

"Moriden," Zai responded, not bothering to look up from his perusal of McTavish's service record displayed on his console.

~wheeeeeeze~ "Uh, Transmission from Starbase Operations, sir. We are to," ~wheeze~ ",um, receive transfer of one Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Asovil Sh'iraolnas from the USS Equinox. She is to replace Lt Tesenblen as our Chief Science Officer,"

Lt Zai's gaze lifted from the console, then, and locked to Moriden's. He blinked once, just before the spots visible at his temples and neck darkened a shade and, a nano-second later, his face began to redden. The XO's jaw tightened and, as the fingers on one hand tried to curl into a fist around the arm of the command chair, the fingers of the other reached up to, first, pinch at the bridge of his nose as if to ease a sudden ache that had appeared there, and then, slid slowly, expasperatedly, down his face, pausing for a moment to cover his mouth (perchance to stifle a scream?). He blinked at Moriden from behind that hand-muzzle for a moment and, when the hand fell away from his mouth, all of the incredulity suddenly evident in his mannerisms was given voice when he asked; "Are you frilling kidding me?!?!"

Moriden almost physically flinched but managed to limit her reaction to a rapid succession of blinks. "I wish I was, sir," she wheezed, "Lt Sh'iraolnas' ETA is five minutes. Should I arrange for,"

"What in all of the hells happened to Tesenblen," Tochi demanded, interrupting again. He had launched himself out of the Big Chair and was veritably stomping across the bridge towards the Ops station, now.

Moriden's hands flew across her consoles as fast as they ever had in hopes that she'd have that information up and absorbed before he reached her, Perhaps an instantaneous answer might assuage the fuming XO. Lt Zai wasn't known to anger quickly but, when his limits were reached, well, no one (herself included) ever cared to see it happen. Her console chirped in response to her input and, eagerly, her eyes dipped to the display to read the report the computer had returned, ~wheeze~, Oh no!, ~wheezewheezewheeze~, This isn't going to make him happier, at all,

"We're waiting, Mr Moriden."

~whee,~ Moriden did flinch as Tochi's hands came down and clamped onto the edge of her console. ~,eeze~

She recovered quickly though, and keeping her eyes averted from the XO's as a countermeasure, relayed the information on her screen; "Lt Tesenblen has been taken into custody by Starfleet Security, sir, and, along with the contents of his botanical lab, is currently being escorted off of the Peregrine." It was then that either Lt Zai's knuckles or the edge of her station cracked when his grip tightened on it. Moriden still didn't look up at him but would later swear that she could hear his jaw creak as it tightened all the more. Then, just when she sensed that Tochi might explode, she heard him (loudly enough that it drown out the sound of her respirator) draw in a long, slow breath, hold it for a moment and, then, just as loudly, expel that breath in an exasperated whoosh.

"That makes it official," Tochi murmured, "the entirety of our departmental command has been replaced in the span of thirty-six hours,"

"With the exception of Flight Control," Moriden offered.

Tochi blinked at the Ops Officer, opened his mouth to say something but, apparently, reconsidered and, along with his eyes, his mouth closed again. There was another drawn out inhalation and expulsion of breath, then, and when it ended, the Trill's eyes opened. "With the exception of Flight Control, yes," he tried not to grumble, "Thank you, lieutenant. Please do let us know immediately if that changes."

Lack of grumbling aside, there was no missing the ire-fueled sarcasm in Zai's voice. If Benzites blushed, Moriden likely would have been the equivalent of beet red. "Yes, sir," she demurred, "I'm sorry, I,"

"No," Tochi quickly stopped her, the tone of his voice softening just a little as he pushed away from her console, "No, Candar, I am sorry. None of this is your fault. Thank you for the update."

"Yes, sir," Moriden wheezed as the XO clasped his hands behind his back (with a tighter grip than was ordinary) and turned back toward the command seat, "you're welcome." She watched as he tried not to let his irritation come out in his stride and could tell by the set of his features and the working of his jaw that he was wrestling with himself mentally as well as physically, Wondering, probably, if he should advise the Captain of this latest development while Drake still has the last on the carpet, or,

"Lt Moriden," Lt Zai called as he settled back into the command chair, "Contact Base Ops and advise them that Lt Lt Sh'iraolnas has precisely one-hundred-twenty seconds to get aboard. After that, we're locking down. No one else on or off."

"Aye, sir."

I have arrived!

Stardate 2365.02.08
SB18; Temporary Starfleet Quarters, Deck 15 - 1232

Starfleet bases are always a little stark and sterile, Asovil Sh'iraolnas concludes halfway to the connecting bay door for her new assignment. White and gray bulwarks with blue, gold, or red accents to indicate department affiliation and the kind of lights that pinch a person's eyes if they catch the glare just right seem to be the decorations of choice. This realization doesn't bother the Andorian scientist. It is merely an observation to take her mind off of the pending lackluster duties she already imagines herself doing.

=/\= Operations to Lt. Sh'iraolnas. =/\=

Allowing her sapphire eyes to turn towards the ceiling as though she might discover the speaker hailing her over the comm badge hiding there, Asovil doesn't miss a stride in her response. She simply taps the badge on her left breast once and then readjusts her dark blue, Starfleet issued bivvy bag which slides a bit off her shoulder with the movement.

"Lt. Sh'iraolnas here."

=/\= Peregrine Operations has a rush order for you, Lieutenant. The message is that they are locking down in roughly ninety seconds and that you need to be on board when they do. =/\=

"Copy that," Asovil's eyes narrow and she calculates the distance she has remaining against the time it will take to cover it. Polished boot heels clicking beneath her in a practiced run perfected in the Andorian Imperial Guard, the science officer sprints down the corridor with her personal belongings bouncing unceremoniously against her back packed deftly into her bag.

There's no reason that she's aware of for the rush. According to the base operations manifest, there's still close to a half hour before the ship departs. Thundering through the crowded promenade, Asovil juked and cut around surprised and curious traffic a determined expression on her face. On the one hand, the Andorian wonders if there's a sudden emergency that is forcing the Peregrine to embark on her mission early—whatever that mission is. The thought excites her and resurrects ambitions she had held before that fateful day when she'd left the Andorian Imperial Guard. On the other hand, Lt. Sh'iraolnas is forced to consider whether someone on board the Saber class ship has it out for her. Perhaps they know and the unknown antagonist is planning on making her assignment as miserable as possible until she quits. There are few individuals who could accelerate the departure of a ship—"Pardon me," she calls to a stocky human in a civilian's business suit that is knocked aside by her bag as she makes a particularly daring slip between him and a group of socializers blocking the main thoroughfare—The command staff and, perhaps, Starfleet alone could make that particular command happen. Where does the threat lie? Onboard, or higher up?

Ahead, the arched gray portal with the blue gate designation presented above fast approaches and the lithe scientist leans a little further into her sprint. Andorians have a higher metabolic rate than humans, and the sprint is beginning to take its toll. Long distance running was never something that Asovil excelled at. She is better at the sprint, but taking her heavy bivvy bag into consideration and she knows she doesn't have much left in her. It's good then, that the bay door is in sight and achievable. Her eyes widen in incredulous dismay as the door begins to slide downward with the crew beyond oblivious to her rapid approach.

Reaching deep inside, Asovil pulls herself up by the bootstraps and urges her body to draw upon the last of her reserves. She devours the distance like a ravenous targ at a Klingon dinner table. Height becomes an issue as the door descends lower and lower. Mid-stride, the woman removes her bag from her shoulder and using the momentum of the swing, slings it mightily through the door. With barely a meter left before the door closes, the usually dignified Andorian leaps forward and slides underneath the door on her slim belly, arms outstretched before her, the heels of her highly polished boots clipping the door on her way through.

Sliding to a stop, Asovil allows her forehead to touch the cool floor for a brief moment relief flooding her soul. Then, realizing the picture she must be presenting, she quickly regains her feet, dusts off her black and blue uniform, tugs at the bottom hem of the top to readjust to comfort and presentability. Pushing strands of her white hair from her face and pulling some errant and disobedient strands from her dark blue lips, she turns and retrieves her bag from the floor.

"That was, interesting," she grumbles under her breath, her antennae twitching with suppressed emotion.

"I have to agree," the human male standing next to the door sheathes the phaser at his waist and raises his eyebrows at her predicament while trying not to smile at a superior officer's rather undignified entrance. Asovil is sure that he's likely never seen such a display before.

"Lt. Asovil Sh'iraolnas, reporting for duty," she responds a bit acerbically. "No thanks to the rushed departure protocol. What's the hurry, crewman?"

"I'm not sure, Lieutenant," the blonde man replied while visibly adjusting his disposition to one of all business. He wears a gold and black uniform and Asovil immediately places him in Security.

"Well, where am I supposed to go from here?" she looks away from his uncomfortable face and about the bay witnessing the fast approach of human female also wearing a gold and black uniform. Her flushed face showed a faint hexagonal patterning just beneath the surface that momentarily intrigues the Andorian, but only momentarily. Annoyance at the way she is being treated quickly squashes her curiosity.

"I'll show you to your quarters, Lieutenant, sir," the woman descended on Asovil's position in flushed haste. "Petty Officer Tara Palmer, sir. I have to apologize for my tardiness. I'm afraid we were just informed of your arrival."

"Just?" Asovil narrowed her eyes. She has been in possession of her orders for the better part of the day. "How is that possible?"

"I—uh, let's walk, Mr. Sh'iraolnas," Mr. Palmer holds her hand out back in the direction she'd just come from, through the busy bay where personnel were scurrying about preparing for decoupling procedures. Asovil doesn't offer a reply, but starts walking allowing the petty officer to fall in beside her.

"Well?" the irritated Andorian looks askance of her escort out of the corner of her still narrowed eye after they'd exited the bay and proceeded down the hall a ways.

"There's been a number of reassignments that have strained my department, sir." Tara replies with a slight frown that Asovil interprets as worry. "Yours was communicated to me with just enough time for me to greet you when I did."

"And what happened to the previous Science Officer?"

"He—uh, well—he had to leave rather quickly," Palmer struggles through the explanation.

"A family emergency? Special assignment? What's the state of the department that I'm walking into, Mr. Palmer?"

"No, none of those things," Tara sighs. "I suppose you'll find out sooner rather than later anyway. It's not like there wasn't some spectacle involved.

"Lt. Tesenblen was arrested by Starfleet and removed from the ship with a good portion of his botanical lab. I don't know any more detail than that, sir. But I'm sure the Captain will. He'll want to meet with you soon, I'd imagine."

"I don't have a briefing scheduled with the captain yet?" Asovil is shocked. Surely protocol must be followed!

"Not yet," Tara looks like she wishes she could fade away, the octagonal vein patterning shows up in her cheeks again.

"Fine." Lt. Sh'iraolnas shakes her head and purses her lips. "I suppose Lt. Tesenblon's—" "Tesenblen, sir."—"Fine, Tesenblen—I don't suppose his quarters have been readied for me yet. You can see that my bag is delivered to the quarters. I'll be attending the bridge science station as we depart."

"Yes, sir."

Asovil hoists the heavy bag from her shoulder and delivers it to the apologetic petty chief. Stopping in the middle of the corridor, she looks left, then right, searching for the nearest lift.

"It's that way, sir." Tara points.

Minutes later, Asovil steps foot on the bridge of the Peregrine for the first time. The Saber class vessel's bridge layout is familiar to the Andorian only because she had taken the opportunity to question the ship's computer about it on her way up.

"Requesting permission to take the science con, sir!" Asovil barks as she steps from the elevator and stands at rigid attention, her antennae pressing forward with anticipation of the response from the Trill seated in the captain's chair.

Leave me in command in a time of crisis, go ahead! ;)

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine; Bridge - 1237

",all external hatches and docking ports have been sealed and secured. Transporters restricted to emergency operations only."

Tochi nodded as Lt Moriden wrapped up her latest report, then let his gaze track from Ops to CONN. "Mr P'Tammah," he prodded,

"External support at 40.72% and falling, Lieutenant," Vaela responded without waiting for Tochi to finish his query, "Sending a request to Starbase Ops to accelerate our off-cycling, now." There was a faint chirp and whistle as her fingers flitted across the console. "Navigation and Reaction Control Systems online."

"Very good," Lt Zai nodded, his eyes panning the bridge once more until they come to rest on the relatively new face at the TAC/SEC station. "Lt Berk," he queried, "Status?"

((OOC: Soft toss, there, for Brennus, if he needs it, Assuming a simple update regarding security team postings, confirmation that SF security has offloaded Horatio and his poisonous plantlife, etc, and perhaps an affirmation that Lt Sh'iraolnas made it aboard just by the skin of her teeth, or belly as the case may be.))

"Thank you, Lieutenant." Zai pinched at the bridge of his nose, again, nursing the headache that threatened to evolve from the tension he felt between his eyes, and allowed himself to finally settle back into the Command Chair a bit. He heaved another sigh in concert with the action, as well, but, this one was softer and, in some way, emoted some sense of relief as opposed to the irritation belied in his more recent outbreaths. Peregrine was effectively locked down, now, and, as such, it would take an act of Fleet Command for one more single molecule to board or disembark from her decks, let alone another entire person. Better yet, Captain Drake hadn't seen fit to so much as question him over comms as to what exactly might be happening on the bridge while he was conferring with Lt McTavish, yet.

Yet, he repeated, silently, his eyes falling back to the console at his right, fingers following along to cue open the copy of Lt(jg) Sh'iraolnas' file which Moriden had recently channeled to him. He skimmed quickly past the biometric and familial data, paused for a moment, his interest slightly piqued by the mention of her training and service with the Andorian Imperial Guard, then, before moving on, he called on Moriden again,

"Candar," he said, "please see to it that Lt Tesenblen's quarters are emptied of any remaining personal effects and readied appropriately for our new CSO, if you would."

"Aye, sir," the Benzite Ops Officer acknowledged, "Already in progress."

The response brought the flicker of a smile to Tochi's lips,

Regardless of the mad-cap spin and swap that the roster had been put through of late, he mused, returning his attention to Sh'iraolnas' dossier, Peregrine's crew seems to be running as smoothly and efficiently as ever. Silas can be proud of that in spite of anything that Jacobs or anyone else might do or say to undermine his command.
,the faint smile lasted, perhaps, as long as the duration of that thought, though, and disappeared back into something more akin to a grimace when, following a series of bleeps from the Ops station, Lt Moriden advised; "Lt Zai; two transmissions incoming. One from Base Ops and one from the Coronado."

Before Tochi was able to prioritize which of the hails to answer, first, the turbolift door shooshed open to admit a tall, lean, and, perhaps, slightly miffed looking Andorian woman to the bridge. "Requesting permission to take the Science con, sir," the woman, who could only be Lt(jg) Sh'iraolnas, barked dutifuly, her almost hard sapphire eyes fixed directly on him, perhaps even stabbing through him.

"Permission granted, Lt Sh'iraolnas," Zai said, rising from the chair, now, and gesturing to SCI 1, "Welcome aboard the Peregrine. Our apologies for the rather sudden and frantic nature of you're joining us."

((OOC: Unless Asovil has anything to add, here, I'm going under the assumption that she simply gives a curt nod or somesuch as acknowledgement and takes her station, edits if otherwise.))

As the newly assigned CSO clipped to her post, Tochi adjusted the hem of his jacket and turned his attention back to Moriden. "Base Ops," he told her, turning to face the viewer at the front of the bridge, "on screen."

Following a warbling series of blips from Moriden's console, the viewer resolved an image of a stern, yet concerned looking man in Ops gold with a Master Chief's insignia affixed to his collar. The man's eyes seemed to narrow just a fraction as it appeared he was trying to guage bridge activity on the ship he had just hailed.

"Lt Tochi Zai of the USS Peregrine, here," Tochi said, drawing the Ops Chief's attention to himself, "What can we do for you, Chief?"

"Uh, Peregrine, has the timetable for your departure changed? We're showing a request for accelerated off-cycling from ESM and boarding gantries have been been red-lined."

"Negative, Chief," Zai replied with a conciliating smile, "Our timetable is exactly as logged. We're simply pulling the umbilicals early as Engineering wanted to ensure integrity and efficiency of some new life-support modules before we left spacedock. Those diagnostics can't be performed in External Support Mode."

The Ops Chief's glance dipped as if he were regarding a readout somewhere off screen. His expression seemed confused for a moment but quickly morphed back to the same stern (though, somewhat less concerned) visage he had initially presented. "Acknowledged, Lieutenant," he acquiesced, then, "Thank you for the clarification. We'll go ahead and up the off-cycle and disengage the gantries."

"Much appreciated, Chief," Tochi nodded, cueing Moriden to end the transmission.

The viewer went black.

Moriden prompted; "The Coronado, sir?"

Closing his eyes for an instant, Tochi took a breath and clasped his hands behind his back, bracing himself for what he expected might be a contentious communique from Capt Jacobs. Then, as his eyes came open and he let the breath go, he nodded; "On screen, Mr Moriden."

The fact that he was faced with an image of Cmdr Farr as opposed to the pinch-faced Jacobs when the viewscreen resolved this time was something of a relief, even if it wasn't wholly unexpected,

Of course, Jacobs wouldn't deign to communicate with his "lesser" directly, Tochi mused even as he offered the Coronado's XO a pleasant smile, not when he can order his second in command to do it for him and get his thrills from rubbing salt into an imagined wound.
, "Commander Farr," Tochi's smile went from pleasant to almost charming and he took a step closer to the viewscreen, "So nice of you to call. What can we do for you?"

"Oh," Cmdr Farr was obviously surprised to have had the hail answered by Tochi as opposed to Captain Drake. The expression on her face seemed to waiver in a limbo somewhere between uncertainty and relief for a moment and then she, too, smiled (although, Tochi thought she had tried very hard not to). ",Good afternoon, Lt Zai. I was expecting to speak to your commanding officer,"

"We're sorry, Commander," Tochi smiled, taking yet another step closer to the viewscreen - it was a "diplomatic trick" of sorts that he had picked up from Kasru; close the distance between yourself and those with whom you hope to make in-roads, bolster a sense of familiarity and intimacy - and making a vaguely placating gesture, "Captain Drake is currently occupied with personnel matters and unavailable. Is this something that I might be able to address for you?"

"Well," Commander Farr's smile faltered just a bit and her gaze ticked somewhat apprehensively to a point just offscreen for a flicker of a second, when they returned to Zai, the smile stabilized a bit but her voice seemed a bit softer, "I was directed to contact Captain Drake but I'm sure you could,"

It was at that moment that Captain Jacobs appeared in frame and not a second afterwards that his glowering visage had all but eclipsed the decidedly more pleasant countenance of his XO. Tochi's smile reverted from charming to professionally pleasant.

"Where is Commander Drake, Lieutenant," Jacobs demanded as Bethanny Farr receeded further into the background and, finally, disappeared from the screen altogether.

"Good afternoon, Captain Jacobs," Tochi smiled cooly, subtly stepping back a pace from the viewscreen, now, "As we were just relating to Cmdr Farr, sir, Captain Drake, is in his Ready Room dealing with some sudden and, frankly, quite unexpected personnel transfers. Being indisposed as he is, the Captain has given us leave to address any concerns you may have. Unfortunately, your XO had yet to broach that particular subject before we were interrupted,"

Jacobs' lips pursed and his eyes narrowed as if he had just ingested a mouthful of acid or, at the very least, bile.

",What might I assist you with, sir?"

Jacobs appeared to chew on whatever had just soured his mouth and, then, finally, swallowed it, though the bitterness of it never left his features. "I have been informed, Lieutenant, that the Peregrine has escalated her seperation routine," the Coronado's captain said once he had convince himself to lower himself enough to address a mere lieutenant, "No scheduling changes have been authorized. What is going on aboard that ship, Mister Zai?"

Tochi resisted the urge to tell Jacobs to take a flying frill at a rolling donut on a gravel-strewn tarmac, just then. Instead, he simply allowed his smile to melt from pleasant to vaguely patronizing and said; "As we said and are certain that you are aware, sir; we have had a rapid influx and outflow of personnel since our arrival at Starbase 118. Most of them critical department heads and/or command staff. In light of these unexpected developments and given that Captain Drake has given me command of the bridge while he addresses them, we have elected to lock our doors and accelerate our separation from the stations umbilicals in order to avoid any further interruptions and complications,"

And to keep the remainder of the crew from being body-swapped.
",Only our routine has been upticked, Captain Jacobs," Tochi reassured the man scowling back at him from the viewer, "not our schedule. We wouldn't dare leave without you, sir, if that was your concern."

If it was possible, Jacobs' scowl etched itself even deeper into his face and, if Tochi wasn't mistaken, the man's pallor had gone more than a little ruddy. "Don't condescend to me, Zai," he snapped after a minute.

"No condescenscion intended, sir," Tochi lied smoothly, bowing his head a bit to sweeten the sale, "Our apologies if,"

"You tell Commander Drake," Jacobs intruded, "to contact me immediately, lieutenant!"

"Aye, sir," Tochi returned, once more offering a slight bow of the head, "we will be sure that Captain Drake contacts you at his earliest conveni,"

Jacobs turned his head and the viewscreen went dark.

",ience."

The Trill's smile morphed again, though, the exact nature of what colored it this time might have been a little ambiguous. Was it satisfaction?

"Well," Tochi said from behind that smile, taking another backpedaling step away from the black viewscreen before commiting to actually turning around, "that went better than we had imagined it would." As he strode back toward the command chair, the smile still dancing on his lips, he regarded the bridge crew and asked; "Now, where were we?"

There were a few knowing grins and a stray snicker as the Peregrine's XO seated himself once more. "Ah, yes," he said, glancing again at Lt Moriden after a quick perusal of the chrono, "Advise our guests that we will be departing in twenty minutes or less and, if they would care to join us on the bridge at that time, they would be more than welcome."

"Aye, aye, sir," Moriden couldn't help but grin herself,.

((OOC: Okay, got a little longer than I had intended but the thing just took on a life of it's own, interjections, apologies, edits? Let me know.))

A man of few words, a glimmer of hope.

Stardate: 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine; Bridge - 1240

Haemis steps out of the ready room and glances around the bridge and slowly crosses around to the Engineering station. He settles into the chair not wanting to interrupt the commander going through the port departure rigmarole and seems lost in thought for a long moment reflecting on his conversation with the Captain. It was short, and to the point. It was good, what he really needed and already a mark on the good side, he actually made even a little time to greet his new officers. He remembered when he first reported aboard the Coronado he barely got a hand wave dismissing him when the first officer introduced him. He was elated to find out the Chief Engineer was far more animated about welcoming him and about showing him the ropes and the "unspoken rules" aboard ship. It was only a few weeks in when he found out the hard way. He shook away the memories and turned to the console and began configuring it for his use so he could optimally monitor things from here when needed.

He froze for a brief moment when he first heard Jacob's voice over the comm system, but he pushed down his urge to let anger get the better of him, he just continued doing what he was doing. He blinked as he noticed they were trying to speed up the draw down from station power. They must be in a hurry.

He turned in his chair and was about to state something but thought better of it, and turned back to the engineering station. He pulled up the warp drive system controls and took note of the current state of things, the system had been at idle for a bit and was slowly coming up which in turn was the balancing act for the station umbilical's and the ships own power system. Everything was looking good, he switched the impulse engines, and system after system to follow. This ship was well maintained. A credit to his predecessor to be certain.

"Lieutenant Tochi," he spoke for the first time. "Ifn' we increase the ships plasma output by ramping up the warp cores generation rate we could be on our way in a jiffy. We would have to have the station follow the power output closely which a computer link could do just fine, they could back it off as we generate more internal power. Ifn yer in a hurry tha is." He pointed to one of his screens. "not exactly regulation... but it could do the trick." He nodded. "in a pinch,"

(OOC: Quick edit for location sorry about that.)

Tactical Systems Green

(OCC: A quick response because I just can't resist)

"Lt Berk," he queried, "Status?"

Ensign Blackmon standing to his rear, Mathias temporary manning tactical as the Peregrine got underway, he tapped a few buttons on his console, running a level 5 diagnostic of the ships tactical systems, moments later all systems flashed nominal across the board.

"All Tactical systems green sir, weapons and shields on warm standby. Internal sensors and force fields are operating with in normal parameters and security teams are at their stations awaiting orders. We're ready when you are sir." Mathias responded as all of his stations reported in, a trickle of acknowledgments displayed on his console.

There was a slight flicker as the ships power systems took over for the starbase, the tactical systems flashed low power warnings briefly as the ship's main power stabilized again, the warp core and impulse generators coming up to full power in light of the suddenly increased load, all systems returning to nominal status as the lights came up to full.

"Thank you Lieutenant" Responded Lt. Zai

I'll post ahead later. I'll also try to get more interaction with other PCS then.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine - Bridge
"Requesting permission to take the Science con, sir," Asovil does her best to make a quick assessment of the lieutenant sitting in the Captain's Chair. It strikes her as unusual that the Trill's rank isn't higher in order to be commanding a ship. Her rank disparity in being over a science department on a starship is excused because of the unimportant nature of the position on board an escort vessel, but she believes that the position of Captain should at least be held by an officer of higher regard.

"Permission granted, Lt Sh'iraolnas," the man says, rising from the chair and gesturing to SCI 1, "Welcome aboard the Peregrine. Our apologies for the rather sudden and frantic nature of you're joining us."

Exacting a nod of compliance, the Andorian looked towards the station that the lieutenant indicated and makes her way to stand in front of it. Chairs are for more constant bridge presences, and the lack of a chair at SC1 is another reminder of the value placed on her department.

"Base Ops on screen."

Asovil glances at the view screen when the captain gave his orders, but quickly decides she has no stock in what's about to take place. Returning her attention to the console, the science officer punches in her authorization code (such a designator follows the individual through their assignments in Starfleet) and is relieved to find that Ops had already managed to provide her with the accesses due her position.

"Lt Tochi Zai of the USS Peregrine, here," the captain says once the screen flares to life. "What can we do for you, Chief?"

Lt. Sh'iraolnas deftly works the SC's controls and pulls up the department's roster.

"Uh, Peregrine, has the timetable for your departure changed? We're showing a request for accelerated off-cycling from ESM and boarding gantries have been been red-lined."

"Negative, Chief," Zai replies with a conciliating smile, "Our timetable is exactly as logged. We're simply pulling the umbilicals early as Engineering wanted to ensure integrity and efficiency of some new life-support modules before we left spacedock. Those diagnostics can't be performed in External Support Mode."

Reviewing the assembled dossiers, Asovil pays partial attention to the conversation taking place. Cross training is encouraged, but rarely is there time for more than a cursory education on other departments and their procedures. The Andorian has only marginal knowledge of the decoupling procedure. She takes minor consolation at the chief's concern seeing how the rush order had caused her introduction to the Peregrine to be less than dignified. She knows how starship crews talk and it is likely that the ridiculous display she had been forced into was already the talk of the ship. Though, the abrupt removal of the previous science officer might take precedence. That's all she needs, multiple black marks against her and her department before she even knows what their assignment is.

"Acknowledged, Lieutenant," the chief acquiesced. Then, "Thank you for the clarification. We'll go ahead and up the off-cycle and disengage the gantries."

"Much appreciated, Chief," Tochi replies and the transmission ends.

Operations then prompts, "The Coronado, sir?"

"On screen, Mr Moriden."

Digging deeper into the personnel files, Asovil attempts to access her predecessor's. Access Denied A frown sets upon her lips. Whatever he had done, Starfleet wasn't about to share. She will have to find out from her new crewmen.

"Commander Farr." the friendly tone of Lt. Tochi's greeting draws her attention from her investigation to the image of the officer on screen, and then back to the captain's pleasant smile. "So nice of you to call. What can we do for you?"

Is there some past liaison between these two? Asovil attempts to read the commander's expressions.

"Oh," Cmdr Farr is obviously surprised. The expression on her face seems to waiver somewhere between uncertainty and relief for a moment and then she, too, smiles. ",Good afternoon, Lt Zai. I was expecting to speak to your commanding officer,"

Commanding officer? Asovil glances back to Lt. Tochi. Perhaps she has misjudged...

"We're sorry, Commander," Tochi smiles, taking yet another step closer to the viewscreen, "Captain Drake is currently occupied with personnel matters and unavailable. Is this something that I might be able to address for you?"

That's right! Asovil closes her sapphire eyes and silently berates herself. Memory of a Captain Drake begins to creep back into the forefront of her usually sharp mind. She now remembers reading that Drake, not Tochi, captained the Peregrine.

"Well," Commander Farr's smile falters just a bit and her gaze ticks somewhat apprehensively to a point just offscreen for a flicker of a second, when she returns her attention to Zai, the smile stabilizes a bit but her voice seems softer, "I was directed to contact Captain Drake but I'm sure you could,"

At that moment, a sever looking human male appeared in frame and not a second afterwards that his glowering visage all but eclipses the decidedly more pleasant countenance of the commander. Turning her attention to Lt. Tochi, Asovil noted his smile change from charming to professionally pleasant.

"Where is Commander Drake, Lieutenant," the officer oppressing the viewscreen demands. The scientist in Asovil taking over, she's now content to put her investigation into her department on hold in order to ascertain the nuances of the relationships between these two ships' personnel.

"Good afternoon, Captain Jacobs," Tochi smiles cooly, subtly stepping back a pace from the viewscreen. "As we were just relating to Cmdr Farr, sir, Captain Drake, is in his Ready Room dealing with some sudden and, frankly, quite unexpected personnel transfers. Being indisposed as he is, the Captain has given us leave to address any concerns you may have. Unfortunately, your XO had yet to broach that particular subject before we were interrupted,"

Asovil notes the use of the word "us" in the XO's explanation and files it away for future inquiry. She is aware of Trill symbiotic relationships, but has never before had the opportunity to study the phenomenon up close.

Jacobs' lips purse and his eyes narrow as if he just ingested a mouthful of acid or, at the very least, bile.

",What might I assist you with, sir?"

Asovil finds the officer on screen's demeanor interesting and concludes that he is an elitist. She is all too familiar with elitists amidst ranking officers. That is the modus operandi for Andorian Imperial Guardsmen.

"I have been informed, Lieutenant, that the Peregrine has escalated her separation routine," the Coronado's captain says once he convinces himself to address a mere lieutenant, "No scheduling changes have been authorized. What is going on aboard that ship, Mister Zai?"

Tochi allows his smile to melt from pleasant to vaguely patronizing before he answers and Asovil realizes that the Trill is playing a game of cat and mouse, as the humans say.

"As we said," Lt. Tochi replies. "And are certain that you are aware, sir; we have had a rapid influx and outflow of personnel since our arrival at Starbase 118." The Andorian briefly wonders just how many of the Peregrine's crew had been rifled. "Most of them critical department heads and/or command staff." Enlightened, Asovil now wonders why. Perhaps there's more going on aboard the Peregrine than first meets the eye. "In light of these unexpected developments and given that Captain Drake has given me command of the bridge while he addresses them, we have elected to lock our doors and accelerate our separation from the stations umbilicals in order to avoid any further interruptions and complications,"

Asovil Sh'iraolnas has suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, received an explanation for her rush order. She ponders the information for a moment and determines that she is the unfortunate recipient of the ill-advised decision to wait until the last possible moment to come on board. No one made the decision to try and embarrass her because of what they'd discovered about her and why she was assigned to the Peregrine. Such pondering affords her little comfort and doesn't remove the sting accompanying her inglorious entrance, but it allays suspicions and that, to her, is something.

",Only our routine has been upticked, Captain Jacobs," Tochi reassured the man scowling back at him from the viewer. "Not our schedule. We wouldn't dare leave without you, sir, if that was your concern."

A joint mission with the Coronado and the insufferable P'olnac of a Captain would, at the very least, provide entertainment for the scientist in the variety taking place then and there.

Jacobs' scowl etches itself even deeper into his face amidst a ruddy complexion fired by indignation. "Don't condescend to me, Zai," he snaps.

"No condescension intended, sir," Tochi lies smoothly, bowing his head a bit to sweeten the sale, "Our apologies if,"

"You tell Commander Drake," Jacobs intrudes, "to contact me immediately, Lieutenant!"

"Aye, sir," Tochi responds crisply, once more offering a slight bow of the head, "we will be sure that Captain Drake contacts you at his earliest conven--"

Jacobs turns his head and the viewscreen abruptly goes dark.

"--ience."

The Trill's smile morphs again, though, the exact nature of what colored it this time might have been a little ambiguous. Was it satisfaction? Asovil wonders if he feels that he had won that particular conflict. In her experience, antagonizing a superior officer rarely resulted in anything good.

"Well," Tochi says from behind his smile, taking another backpedaling step away from the black viewscreen before committing to actually turning around, "that went better than we had imagined it would." As he strides back toward the command chair, the smile still dancing on his lips, he regards the bridge crew and asks; "Now, where were we?"

Lt. Sh'iraolnas looks quietly about the room as a few knowing grins and a stray snicker follow the Peregrine's XO back to the Captain's Chair.

"Ah, yes," he says, glancing again at Lt. Moriden after a quick perusal of the chrono. "Advise our guests that we will be departing in twenty minutes or less and, if they would care to join us on the bridge at that time, they would be more than welcome."

"Aye, aye, sir," Moriden grin.

Guests? Asovil turns slowly back to her console and wonders about gain at their mission while she brings up the science officer logs. A number have been sealed, but the majority are open allowing the newly appointed science officer to begin educating herself on the previous and current projects within her department.

Who's That..............

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine; Lt. Reid's Quarters - 1235

John had made his way to his quarters to rest and prepare for his rotation on the bridge. As was his usual routine before starting a mission he reviews the personnel log for changes. The Peregrine's crew was small compared to a Galaxy class ship but still he felt it was wise to know the new faces on board. His new CO would not have time and it was the job of the second to support and fill the gaps.
As the boarding log came up on the comm John let out a low whistle.

Transfers ________________________________________
Officers:
Lt Chell (Ops) - Promoted and given an XO post aboard another ship. Was supposed to have been replaced by a Lt Tetsuko but, instead, we got Lt Lasad.

Lt Rockatansky (Tac/Sec) - Transferred . Replaced by Lt Berk.

Lt Synklar (Medical) - Transferred . Replaced by Lt Moore.

Lt Cmdr Thorson (Eng) - Relieved of duty due to medical emergency. Replaced by Lt McTavish.

Lt (jg) Tesenblen (Sci) - arrested for illegal acquisition and cultivation of potentially dangerous substances aboard SF installations/ships. Replaced by Lt Sh'iraolnas.

Crewman:

Ens Thomason - Flight Control Dept,
2nd class PO Nurse Peter Adama.
3rd class PO Nurse Miraan.
Crewman Nurse Sandra Reynolds
---------------------------------------------

John was used to the changeovers in crewman as a usual routine of Starfleet to give personnel experience but never had he heard of this many changes in Senior Staff at one time.

Coincidence had just made it seem more unusual. Transfers for promotion were standard and emergencies would require changes. Misfortune of stepping over the Starfleet regulations also would require discipline. It wasn't John's place to question the moves of Starfleet so changing a Security Officer and Medical Officer were not outside any grand plan. But when looking at it as a whole the Peregrine was handed a challenge.

John entered his security clearance and opened the files of each transfer. Reviewing each file he entered a briefing report on each new crew member with risk analysis. Although his current clearance did not give him access to all files it was enough to send on the Lt. Berk.

Moving Forward - I hope

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine, Sickbay - 1233

Nurse Dana Cook hovered over the unconscious form of Chief Engineer Thorson as the scanners did their job. He was stable now and they had mannaged to stop his seizures, but at the moment they still weren't sure what had caused them.

"I don't know Doctor," Dana said to Doctor Moore, "it almost looks like something is causing his body to reject the implants."

(Doctor's replies)

"We don't know what is causing this problem Doctor," Dana went on, "but I do know that we do not have the necessary equipment or specialist in cybernetic implants onboard to handle this situation properly."

"We will be leaving the Starbase soon," She turned to look at the Doctor, "I suggest we transfer him to Starbase 18 immediately."

(Assuming the Doctor concurs and gives the order)

"OK," Dana said as she turned to the rest of the medical staff that had been called if for this emergency, "We have only minutes before they seal us up for departure."

"Miraan & Patel, you will accompany me in taking the Chief Thorson to the Starbase."

"PO Adama," turning to him, "you contact SB medical and send over the data we have currently and tell them to meet us at the airlock. Tell them to hurry."

"Reynolds,"Dana said, " prepare another hypo of sedative for me; we want to be prepared just incase he starts to act up again. "

"Come on, let's move people."

Less than a minute later, PO Cook lead Miraan & Patel as they guided the hover gurney bearing the stable, and thankfully unconscious, Chief Thorson to the airlock. There they handed over his care to the SB medical personnel who had shown up to take charge of him. Dana stood there for a moment watching as they whisked him away and the airlock door closed as the ship prepared to departure.

Dana turned slowly away and said a slient prayer that he would be alright. She didn't like giving up injured patients, but she knew he would have a better chance of surviving on the Starbase than aboard the Perregrine.

(OOC: Well that is the best I can do. I hope the Doctor, GMs, Superior Officers, etc. are ok with what I posted. If not I can go back and edit anything that is deemed inappropriate. Now, hopefully we can get this game going again, and now that my Medical personnel are freed up, I can get a few other posts in. )
