I'm late!

Darn I should really check the threads themselves rather than relying on the latest updated forum topics

I'll post sometime tonight! Don't worry about the late response shield

I'll try and post tonight, but more than likely this will happen Tuesday. Glad to see the ball is rolling again.

again, sorry for the delay...

I had to undergo surgery prior to this weekend and as such was unable to really get much done on the update. I had actually started my update before going to the hospital, but then life happened... you all know how it is.

I welcome feedback on the way the game has gone thus far, anything you would like to see more of, less of, or changed entirely. Was the three round updates too fast paced, or something we can work with moving forward?

Any and all feedback is welcome, be it positive or negative. Feel free to PM me if you would rather do so that way, I understand.

Plans

Ok guys, anybody have a great idea about what to do about the fog? Zick could wave his little arms around and huff and puff and blow. But somehow I doubt that will do much other than amuse the crowd. At the very least, we could grab some branches and try to create just a little wind. Any other options? Then we start to search.

Also, do we have any sense if there are more bandits anywhere or was this the whole lot? There might be more information in the cabin, of course.

Finally - it seems I missed posts in two games recently - I'm on the site a lot, but somehow missed the posts on the latest updated lists and so got behind. If you ever notice me missing a post - send me a message. I probably missed things. I don't want to be the gjuy slowing things down and usually don't need to be.

All is good here

Sorry to hear about your back surgery and hope you are recovering well. I'm liking things so far, even if the charm resistant foes were a little hernia inducing. Damn druid.

Definitely need to deal with that fog cloud. Otherwise it'll last 30 minutes or so. We can try to use branches to move the air around the fog. Iara also has Prestidigitation, maybe she can use that to make small puffs of air to help break up the fog? Otherwise, each of the dancing lights is the equivalent of a torch, they could help us see in the fog.

I agree, we should check the cabin, carefully.

thank you fo the feedback thus far.

As hilarious as it would be, I don't think Zick's Gnomish lungs pack quite enough punch to put a dent in the fog. I can still see him puffing himself blue in the face trying though.

Also I don't think Prestidigitation produces quite the volume of wind needed to move the fog either. It is, after all, meant to represent small, minor tricks a magician would use to amuse and/or amaze simple folk. A puff of wind from Prest. would be enough to snuff a candle, make a torch waver, blow someone's hair out of or into the face, that sort of thing. It really is more of a parlor trick spell than anything else.

I also understand the frustration with the Charm and Confusion failing as they did, and I assure you, that was not intentional on my part. I did not expect the bandits to resist as easily as they did. Charm or Confusion really should have been more useful in the early part of this encounter, but high rolls had other plans.

There are bodies still outside of the area of the fog that can be searched if that is the route you want to go while deciding your next move through the fog itself.

I know that it is highly unorthodox of a DM to do so, but I will go ahead and tell you that there are no other enemies within this clearing or in the cabin. As of the Monk's defeat you are safe from attack for the time being, so if you want to wait out the fog you can do that too without fear of an ambush.

Well in that case...

We might as well just wait it out. Search and loot those bodies we can get to and then the cabin. Once the fog clears we can deal with what is there. Then maybe heal up and head back to the city? What do you all think?

All good on the slippery will saves. That stuff happens. Since it was a homebrew class, makes me wonder if the DC for glamourie needs to be higher. But you say the rolls and would know better than I. Can't hit a home run every time.

def rolls

The d20 I use was consistently coming up 14+ while rolling Will saves. Yet I could not roll higher than a 6 when the Monk was making Strength checks to break free of the Tanglefoot Bag Adhesive. Perhaps this particular die is more a fan of Mind over Matter, Brains over Brawn, Thought over Action, etc.

Bodies

So reviewing the area covered by the fog, and placement of defeated bandits I have determined that only one of the generic thugs (a rapier wielder) and the Druid are outside of the area of the fog. Savis could have, of course, brought the monk's carcass out of the fog when he rejoined the group, and we will assume he did so, tossing the bleeding Hobgoblin up on the table. So with three visible bodies to search, the question is who will search which, and what preparations (such as Detect Magic) will be taken.

Detect Magic

I'd imagine Iara will be generously using the Detect Magic cantrip on the bodies, on the cabin door, in the cabin - basically every step of the way. This will probably go better if we all work together on the searching.

cabin door

Just a reminder, the cabin door was kicked off the hinges when the Hobgoblin came storming out, quite upset with you lot for putting an early end to his fun time with the ladies. So I don't think we'll be needing to detect magic on it, but feel free if you like.

Patience

Ok, fog is just fog. It doesn't hurt or anything. As long as the DM has generously told us we are safe for the moment, lets take advantage of that. (Under normal circumstances I'd be much more cautious - especially about being out of sight of each other.) It will make everything go faster.

Zick's suggestion - move all the bodies out of the fog and into the clear air. We shouldn't have that much trouble finding them and moving them. Even thick fog is just fog and in a relatively limited area. We haul them all out and then search them - using detect magic on the whole lot of them.

Then we can all go into the cabin as a group. Sound good?

Zick will stand guard during this process - although he is strong of heart, he is just a little gnome in a big world after all. And he would be about as effective at hauling around bodies as he would be at huffing and puffing the fog away. The Pup and Birdman probably get most of this work.

As for the saving throws, I offer another possibility - perhaps Zick is just such an amazing alchemist that his tanglefoot bags are super strong. Keep this in mind as in the future perhaps others should be given a negative to their strength checks to break such a miraculous substance.
