Supernatural Q&A thread

Hey all this is going to be the thread to post all your questions

In progress Quests
Life is simple. Well. Relatively. You did your stuff and nobody bothered you, (job, drugs, crime, w/e). It was reasonably good. Now, for the past couple weeks, there's been a string of bad luck. Accidents happening, people getting sick, some people just abandoning their "post" just to drink, f**k and do drugs. (Either job, role as a leader or perhaps people in the faith community). I think this is all because of the Stranger. I've caught a glimpse of em, tall, uses a cane and has a white suit. Ahole shows up, then all of a sudden something happens. It happened to _____ ((you can decide what happens and who it happens to)). But the weirdest thing of it all... I swear. For a second, out of the corner of my eye, the guy had horns and his skin was red. Made me shudder. Still does in fact.

So this is a very barebones map as I haven't had time to really highlight stuff... I think all you have to know for now is you'll prolly have a job or something in this part of the map and live somewhere suburban (which is off screen)

Colum "Wrathman" MacRath

Colum MacRath
Streetname: Wrathman

Description: 6' 1" with long, dark brown hair (length is to middle back) usually worn in a ponytail, angular features (at least until the jawline, which is square), and deep set, blue eyes. Colum wears a full beard and mustaches (also brown with a dusting of gray). He's tanned, and wears laugh lines around his eyes and creases in his cheeks and neck that denote a great deal of time outdoors. Colum prefers to wear jeans and a t-shirt, often the t-shirt will depict his favorite band name: Queensryche across it in one form or another. He also wears a black leather riding jacket, black Harley Davidson riding boots, and a leather Harley Davidson head wrap. He has a silver chain that runs from his front belt loop to the wallet in his back pocket. His belt is black leather, thick and wide, with a cast metal rectangle belt buckle depicting the Square and Compasses of a Master Mason. He often has a pair of black Oakley Scalpel sunglasses on his person, whether worn, or carried. Colum has a full tattoo sleeve up his right arm bearing various Masonic symbols that spill over onto his right peck, ending with the Masonic Square and Compasses carved into a stone cube. The symbols on his arm include the Pythagorean Theory, Two pillars with a single center point, an Acacia sprig, and the letters, H I S a U M a M, which is Masonic cypher for his favorite part of the ritual. He has a tattoo of a Celtic cross over his left breast to signify his love of God. His left arm bears a half-sleeve design tattoo of a lone wolf on an outcropping of rock howling in front of a rising full moon. Another tattoo consists of some elegant lettering for the words "Quod non interficiat me fortiorem michi" in a soft arch across his back and shoulders. This is embellished by Celtic knotwork. He wears a single ring made of black tungsten steel on his right hand, middle finger, that has the Masonic Square and Compasses engraved on it as well as the interior inscription, "Seek the Light." He wears a silver crucifix about his neck on a thick silver chain.

History: Colum grew up much the same way every other ordinary young American would. His parents were both blue collar, but he never found himself wanting. His relationship with his father was tight and they'd often spend time working on motorcycles together, and when he grew older, visiting the Club bar down the road, or attending the Masonic Lodge of which his father was a Past Master and which he joined when he was eighteen.

A decent-looking fellow, Colum never had trouble gaining the attention of women and though he experienced a number of relationships, none have stuck. He is the consummate gentleman despite his intimidating and rough appearance, having been raised to have manners and treat people with respect, but he has also learned how to be a hard man.

When he was twenty, he and his father ended up in a bar fight with a bunch of rival Club members. His father, Aaron, was beat so badly that he wound up in a coma. When he finally woke (months later), he was basically a vegetable and could barely communicate with movement in his eyes. Over the course of two years, Aaron worked his way through physical therapy and was able to gain the use of his upper body with some effort, but he never did regain the ability to speak, stand, or otherwise engage in normal behavior. Colum sought revenge against the other club and ended up engaging in multiple street fights with the other Club, earning him scarred knuckles and a scar on his chin that he hides with his facial hair. During this time, he worked in his dad's garage as a mechanic, keeping the family business alive.

Colum focused on taking care of his parents for the next few years. He worked the shop, took care of their small house in Los Angeles, California, and made sure that his mother (Brenda) had the help that she needed in caring for Aaron. Relationships with people outside of the home were tough to maintain and most fell off. The Masonic Lodge, however, always came through for the MacRath's and Colum's appreciation for the organization grew. Their local pastor and some other church members were also a big help and Colum found solace in the Bible.

For twelve years, Colum and his mother cared for his father. Then, one evening, Colum returns home from work to find his father hunched over his mother's body devouring her heart. Fight or flight instinct kicked in and Colum's natural instinct was to fight. He pushed his father off of his mother, yelling and punching with all of his strength. When Aaron met his gaze, Colum could see regret, fear, and self-loathing just before his father—or what had once been his father—turned and bolted from the house with incredible speed.

The police were told that it was a break-in and that the drug-infused assailants had taken his father as hostage when he arrived. It was only after the police were through questioning him and he returned home that Colum allowed himself to come apart. He spent months holed up in the house, windows darkened, no lights on. He had found his father's sawed-off shotgun behind the counter of the shop as well as a Smith & Wesson Model SW1911 semi-automatic with black grips. He cradled these waiting for that monster that his father had become to return.

Six months after the death of his mother and disappearance of his father, Colum began to stir. He went to his pastor with questions about demonic possession and was referred to another pastor by the name of Dominic Mitchell. Pastor Dominic provided Colum with the same kind of answers one would expect from any clergyman, but Colum didn't let up and pressed deeper and deeper until Pastor Dominic cautiously took him into a back room of the church—one accessed by a secret set of stairs under the alter. This was Pastor Dominic's prep room for Hunting, and this was where Colum began his education.

Two months later, under the guidance of Pastor Dominic, Colum began tracking his father. Both he and the pastor were positive that his father had somehow been turned into a werewolf, and Colum was determined to put him out of his misery. The pastor outfitted Colum with silver bullets for the .45 and a silver bladed machete. Colum returned to his father's shop (which had been closed down and was in foreclosure) and took everything else he could think that he would need. Within six months, he was hot on his father's trail. When he finally confronted him, Aaron didn't just surrender. His life had been given back to him by the sympathetic she-wolf who had bitten him, and though Aaron deeply regretted killing Brenda he claimed that the urges were just too great to ignore. Colum refused to believe that his father would have stooped to such a level, instead preferring to believe that the werewolf was no longer his father, treating it like a possession. Aaron and Colum ended up in a fight. It was a brutal affair, and ended with Colum lopping off Aaron's head with the machete.

This was the beginning of Colum's journey and the end of a normal life. He rides his Harley Davidson Fat Boy receiving leads from Pastor Dominic when he has them. Recent events in California made it necessary for Colum to skip town for a while, so he hit the open road. Trouble followed him, however, and he eventually made his way up into Canada in order to avoid the heat. Life is never easy for the biker, but it's his lot and he's fine with it. He uses the resources provided him by the Freemasons to get by when he really needs it, picks up odd jobs that range from bartending, bouncing, and muscle work to falling back on his mechanic training. He spends his spare time educating himself on the occult, learning about the supernatural, and trying to connect with other hunters.

"Haze"

Name: "Haze" (real name is Zachary Crawford Hayes but most people don't know that)

Player: Eol Fefalas

Profession: Vagrant

Virtue: ???

Vice: ???

Concept: Haze is a homeless street-kid, a stoner, and a thief. He doesn't stand out much from any of the other homeless on Toronto's streets and he likes it that way. "The less people see ya, dude, the easier it is to survive out here." He professes that he's not originally from Toronto, that he was born and raised in Michigan but, one night, a little less than a year ago, something that he refuses to talk about happened and, after that, he wound up here. Most people assume he just ran away from home and, when it comes right down to it, that's not entirely untrue, he ran away, alright, just not for the reasons most people think. He wasn't an overly rebellious kid. His parents didn't abuse him. Nothing like that, No, Haze ran because, on that night not so long past, the night he last saw his parents, they were getting torn limb from limb by something that was too fast and too dark for him to see, something that made sounds that nothing on earth should have been able to make, He ran while it ate his mom and dad, kept running because he was sure it was coming after him next, and made it as far as Toronto before he finally slowed down enough to get his bearings,

I made the map into a hyperlink for you.

Looking forward to this. Just watched the return of Supernatural last night (had it DVRd). Stoked to burn some bones and bathe in holy water.

thanks brom!

I had an issue with the formatting. As time passes on I"ll put land marks and I'll also get a markham map so you can put where you live. I've got 3 mid terms coming up though :S

Haha glad to hear everyone's excited I'm very excited as well! I'll try to have a first post up at a "town hall" meeting but really it'll be concerned citizens.

I'm thinking that's where everyone can meet for the first time?

EDIT: It appears most people will have some form of knowledge about the supernatural so i'm gonna edit the scenario I said at first. So this won't be your first encounter with the supernatural, you've had maybe one or two brushes with it, hell maybe you even hunted something but you're no expert.

Everything is the same right now, people are falling into their vices, doing stupid stuff, once righteous men are gambling all their savings away. You have all heard rumours of this man in white who wherever he goes, something weird happens. You don't know what he is, but you know somethings up. And perhaps you've realized that other people know it too.

Kay so that way you guys can have prior knowledge which makes sense but you're still relative newbies. Sound good?

another edit: If you don't want me to put your background up, just lemme know!

Also based off of your background, I'll give you some mechanical things such as like "quick shot, photographic memory, status with a gang or stuff like that.". Just to make it easier on you guys so you don't have to pour through the book. (Of course if you want to pour through the book just lemme know!)

Sounds good to me.

I figure Haze's one true brush with the supernatural is the event in his bio. His knowledge probably stems from any research he's done in that time, trying to figure it all out.
