Stardust was really nice! Fun to watch

30 Days of Night was pretty cool!! A vampire movie. I was pleasantly surprised. Of course it had a couple of 'yea right, ok ok' moments, but it was cool watching it in theaters. I'm not sure if it would be as good watching it on DVD, but maybe.

No Reservations was ok. It's a chick flick (IMO), but not terrible. Makes you want to eat spaghetti like...whoa!

Black Snake Moan is a pretty good movie. Not one for the kids, though. It has some really nice blues music in it.

Hairspray was ok. A little too musical at times. That got old. But it had some funny moments, so it's worth a gander. It's not something for everyone, though. But if you like musicals, you'll love it.

Almerin and I have watched others, but i can't think of them right now. Just thought I'd give a little reviewing here and there. Not very good reviews, i'm afraid. Maybe i should be more detailed, but i don't feel like it right now

Stardust was indeed a good movie...had that Princess Bride vibe with the modern undercurrent to a fairy tale plot line. Definitely not for little, little kids, but our 11 year old enjoyed it immensely.

The Mummy was on TV last night and I'd forgotten how much fun it was... the second was pretty good but I was rather disappointed in the third.

Great idea, Fantasy, to put the movie titles in bold! I'm gonna go back and edit my previous posts.

The Mummy

Wow, haven't seen that movie in a long time. Yes, it was definately fun.

I saw Naussica, and the valley of the wind recently. It's an older Gibli production (also known for Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle). I thought it was very nice. I'm usually not a anime fan, but these guys always know how to amaze you. And the music is always a strange mix of symphonic score and elevator music. But somehow it works great.

The story in this movie is less important than in the other ones I named, but the scenery is brilliant, I think. If you've seen and liked Spritited and Howl, check it out!

Greed indeed

I found that two more films will be made set in Middle Earth: one would be the hobbit, and another one would be made to fill in the time space between hobbit and LotR.

I also know that Sam Raimi is jumping up and down for the roll of director on these movies, but it's nowhere sure that he's going to be the one.

LOTR cartoon

I have this hobbit video on VHS and the LOTR cartoon video with strange special effects (not the best video). I kept them just to have them. I do like the little orc song when the dwarves are chased up the trees.

ah...

Ah... Mummy 3 hasnt been made yet Van. you must be thinking of some other trilogy.

Speaking of trilogy.. I was so glad that they annouced the legal wrangling is over and The Hobbit will be made.. that is awesome. I doubt Jackson will be back because of the lawsuit he had to get more money, as if he didnt have enough.

I like Sam Raimi but if he gets the director nod then we will have to see Bruce Campbell and Sam's younger brother Ted Raimi in the picture. Hope they dont have Ted play Bilbo.. EGADS!!

mummy 3`

The Scorpion King is also refered to as Mummy 3, since it's from the same studio and involves a character from Mummy 2. And yes, it was bad.

There is only one person who should play Bilbo: Ian Holm. I think so because he was already shown as a younger Bilbo finding the ring in the Trilogy, and because he did such a good job and has the right size .
With the new computer technology they'll be able to make him look even younger. They'll use that one on the Magneto movie that will be coming out, and they also used that in X-men III.

Well I say...

I am shocked, Almerin! To mention couple of movies from Ghibli and leave Princess Mononoke out of that list! I am shocked! Utterly shocked! Mononoke Hime is without doubt the best movie to have been made by Studio Ghible! Shame on you! And Joe Hisashi is da mastah of music!

The others are very good though
Did I say I love Miyazaki's movies and Studio Ghibli films?

question of ability

Ian Holm will be 80 years old when the filming starts for Hobbit. Not sure he'll be up for a year long film shoot.

The Cat Returns remains my fave Ghibli movie.

Mummy 3

The actual Mummy 3:Tomb of the Dragon King should come out 2008, all the cast is returning except Rachel Weisz... I was upset about that!

Ian Holm would make a good Bilbo but I too fear he will be too old.. but they could find someone else to play him.. they did well with the other hobbits in LOTR.

Just have to wait and see.

I am Legend

We watched I am Legend on Monday, and it was Fantastic!

Will Smith gives a Great one man/ one dog performance with for most of the movie. His acting really is outstanding. In fact, the whole cast does a good job, in my opinion. This really makes the movie a lot more interesting than your average action vampire/zombie movie.

The direction and art-direction are also very well executed, and the deserted streets of New York never looked better

The downside to this movie has to be the way the vampires are too obviously computer animated. It isn't so bothersome, but in such a production, you would think they'd spend a bit more time/money in making them more realistic. They move like actual people, their expressions are well made, but you can see at any time that they are fake. We all knew Gollum was fake in Lotr, but he looked a bit more real than the turned humans in I am Legend.

All in all, I think this is a must-see for this season. In fact, we watched it again this afternoon, and it was still as good.

PS: I did not read the book or see the other adaptations of this movie, so it's up to other to comment on that

I am humbled

T'was Scorpion King that I was thinking of...other than a half naked Rock, there wasn't much to commend the movie

The actual third movie has taken so long to happen, I've already written it off...especially once I heard that Rachel Wiesz wasn't returning. Her librarian turned adventurer was endearing.

I LOVE Will Smith

He's an amazing actor...epsecially in Sci-fi and comedy.
He has that quality about him that makes him believable in anything he does...yep...even the Fresh Prince.

And his sense of humor...none better

ABSOLUTELY my favorite actor

Oh, and while we are on movies...
"Dragon Wars" SUCKED!!

Indeed

Will Smith is becoming a FANTASTIC actor. Brilliant.

Did anyone see The Pursuit of Happyness? It's beautiful. My favorite movie now. Will Smith does a great job in that movie.

asdf

He was good in the movie and deserving of his Oscar nod but I didn't think the movie was overly well done.

It was ok.
