A new D&D game - players needed

Greetz, one and all!

Since the demise of the games I was participating in - largely due to my own dissapearance, I know - I find myself needing a new game to run. And so, I am now actively seeking players for a new 2nd edition D&D game set in my own world of Audalis.

What's that you say? You don't know anything about Audalis, or about 2nd edition D&D? Not to worry. We have a ton of Audalis info here on the site... though to be quite honest, it won't impact you that much if you don't want to learn about the setting. As for 2nd edition D&D, have no fear - I'll be glad to help you with your character, if you need it. Bottom line is that you need a desire to play a character - the rule stuff will take care of itself.

Here's the basics: I'm looking for 4-5 characters of 3rd level. While any alignment, race, and/or class is technically okay, please note that I strongly prefer good or neutral characters. If you wish to be evil, you need to still be able to be part of a team; I have no desire to moderate intraparty combat.

Stats should be rolled using the 4d6, drop low die, arrange to taste method (if you don't know what this means, ask me - I'll help!). Use the Red Dragon Character Sheet (located in the vault) for your characters, please. Feel free to add all needed typical nonmagic equipment for your character (armor up to chain, a weapon plus a backup weapon, assorted side items, etc). I will give you your cash totals.

I reserve the right to refuse characters that are too powerful (suuuure you rolled two 18s, two 17s, and a low of 11 for your charisma score!), and similarly reserve the right to make slight adjustments of any sort to stats as I see fit. Do note, however, that your characters are potential heroes, so I expect them to be a cut above the average person, ability-wise.

Also, please note that I have granted right of first refusal for those in my defunct Ripples of the Past game.

I would like to get two posts per player, per week - a minimum of one post per week is required. You need not write novelas as your posts, but please note that the following is NOT a good post.
Yarg hates orcs. As soon as he sees them, he attacks.

Everyone should be able to muster two to three short paragraphs as a typical post. If this is too much, you probably won't enjoy my game.

Mages! The Tides of Magic are in full effect (see Audalis documentation for details). Clerics! Please be sure to select an appropriate Audalisian deity for your character. It would not hurt to choose a particular sect for your cleric, if applicable, though this is not strictly required.

Our game will be set in the southern area of the Taskarren Coast, almost to Macoran Bay - in other words, in lands usually considered to be, by and large - wilds. The party members will know one another, though as to how well is up in the air.

Any further questions, please ask. We'll start as soon as we have a full group.

hehe

Also, please note that I have granted right of first refusal for those in my defunct Ripples of the Past game.
First refusal? hehe... that sounds nice.

In any case, if I had more time I would absolutely join this game again with Metricum Gluestone. Perhaps if you cannot find enough players I'll take a shot. But I don't think you'll be short any.

Good Luck!

Kits and such

Will you be allowing kit, or sub-races, for the various handbooks? (elves, dwarves, thieves, bards, etc)

Will you be allowing the Player's Option books?

Or will this be restricted to just the core books? (PHB, DMG, MM)

This is me expressing curiousity... not necessarily interest.

kits and such..

I am open to kits, but I must approve anything not out of the core books. I do like variety and imagination.

So, I guess you could say: I take everything on a case by case basis.

Ok question on old Ripples character

Olan I found my old character Aralais but he is at present a third level Ranger. You said in the intro that this would be a 2nd level game but we could bring over our old characters from Ripples.
If I bring him over do I lose my third level??

hrmph

I'll adjust the game a bit, then. 3rd level characters (4th for rogues). If you are thinking of a multiclass, run it by me for the exact level.

The Curse

Well... I've been thinking about getting into a good old-fashioned D&D game for a while now... I hesitate to threaten your game with the Rystefn Curse, though.

I'll join up your game. I will most likely play a human fighter. I'll get more details later.

Still looking for players?

If you're still looking for players then I really would like to join this game.

I'm fairly open in terms of class and race options and, assuming that there are still vacancies, should be able to put together a character in the next few days.

Lurk, will I

Kyle sees a cloaked and hooded figure enter the tavern, the lightening outside still playing off in the distance. The figure moves around the tavern and it is not long before Kyle sees in this figure what he has seen many times before. “Well dog, it seems yet another rich merchant has need for others to do his less desirable work.” The large mix bread at Kyle’s feet lifts his head and looks at Kyle as if listening to every word and understanding each of them. Kyle grabs a small peace of bread from the table and drops it to the dog. Kyle sits quietly at his corner table and watches.

“See dog, I told you.” The dog this time did not move except for his tail. A slight swooshing sound as it began to wag. “It seems this lot is to head off to the south. A very bad and unforgiving part of the realm.” It did not take long before several in the tavern that night showed some interest in the job at hand and began to ask questions. “It won’t be long now.”

Sure enough a short time later one stood and came to the table of the cloaked figure, “I am a ranger by trade and will travel if you will have me.”

A few tables over another stood but he spoke from where he stood, “If the price is right and you will have me, my blade will be yours for the time.”

“Well that makes two.” This time the dog sat up and looked as if he were watching the goings on in the tavern. Kyle moved his hand to the top of the dog’s head and gave a little scratch behind the ear.

“I am a jack of all trades but master of none. I will go and give aid as I may.” Spoke a third man from across the common room.

The dog then looked up at Kyle and gave a small whimper. “No dog, I think I will not travel this time, but perhaps we will lurk. I am intrigued as to why send a small band of only 4 to 5 down to the wilds of the south.”

The dog seemed to understand, ‘good I no have to train another human to scratch ear’ the dog nosed Kyle’s hand.

The figure then looked at his scrolls, “Good I have you ranger, put your mark here.” The ranger stepped forward and put his mark on the scroll. “You make the second, one of your kind has already given name and blade to my cause.” The figure went back to his scrolls and then spoke, “Ok, I have gold enough to send 2 or 3 more.”

I've considered...

Unfortunately, Olan, with my work load right now I don't think I could do your game justice. I'll have to decline.

Interesting

From across the room, Corvo watched. Many came and went this eve but a slight few stopped and spoke with a stranger at a far table. Seems he was doing some recruiting of sorts and having at least some luck. Only the fact that those who made their mark were much younger kept him from walking over and inquiring as to what manner of excurion the man had planned. As far as he could tell from dress and mannerisms most of the interested parties were swingers of swords. "They could probably use a healer such as myself." he thought. But he had other tasks to tend to at the moment. The goddess Rhan still pulled him at regular intervals like the moon pulled the tides. For now he would wait and see where his feet took him. If he crossed paths again with this stranger he might just indulge his curiosity.
