Maybe I am just to much of a purist but it kind of bothers me that the "dragons" are actually wyverns.  Guess mother of wyverns didn't have the right ring to it.

I also loved the "I always had blue eyes" line.

@Keeper

You are definitely not alone in this! This is my top fantasy pet peeve: how so many get this completely SIMPLE thing wrong. I mean, how hard can it be?

2 legs, 2 wings=wyvern
4 legs, 2 wings=dragon

I can't express how much it annoys me that so many make the mistake of creating a 4 limbed reptilian 'dragon' and calling it a dragon! It is not a dragon! It is a wyvern! Same family, but different species. Like a dog and a wolf. Or a cat and a lion. The wyvern would be the cat and the dragon would be the lion (so, the stronger, more 'superior' species).

The only things I've seen that actually got their dragons anatomically correct are the Dragonheart movies, The Discovery Channel special The Last Dragon, The Neverending Story movies (well, Falkor looked more like a big shaggy dog than a dragon, so maybe?), The Hobbit movies and the BBC TV show Merlin. The rest is two legs, two wings. Was an extra pair of legs too costly or something? Did they run out of their budget (ha, ha. Sarcasm)? Or is it just dumb Hollywood making those stupid mistakes as usual? I vote the latter. Almost always is.

I saw an article that said the creater of GoT wanted his fantasy dragons to "make sense" and no avian or reprilian creatures have 6 limbs.  He used bats as the inspiration for his "dragon" anatomy.  Bats were exactly what I thought of when I saw his creatures walking.  Article ended with " they are dragons because the show creater called them dragons".

OMG, I HATE that line: 'They are dragons because the show calls them dragons'!

Just because somebody calls something a certain thing doesn't mean that it is that thing. Okay, then, my dog is a wolf because I call him a wolf. Er, no, even if I call him a wolf, doesn't mean he is a wolf. He's a dog. Same with the dragons on GoT. No matter what the creators call them, they are, and always will be, wyverns. It's fantasy, for Drago's sake. Fantasy doesn't make sense because it's fantasy. It's not supposed to be realistic otherwise it would be called 'reality'. I hate it when they try and make fantasy TOO realistic because it takes the fantasy elements out of it.

So, GoT, by dragon lore and anatomy, your 'dragons' are wyverns no matter what you call them.

Gaaaahhh so nervous!

Yeah, without giving too much away, I did like that the more secondary characters got the spotlight a bit, and that we got to see what everyone did and wanted to do on what many of them assumed would be their last night alive.

Next week is going to be insane!

Episode 3 Battle of Winterfell

Ok Battle of Winterfell is on Sunday so my thoughts on who lives and who dies.

MAIN CAST

Both Jon, and Daenerys, live. Why: Because the actual issue between them of who is the rightful heir has yet to be resolved. And afterall THEY are the main characters out of all of them that the fans love to watch.

Brandon, and Sam Tulley, survive. Why: they are the only two who can confirm Jon is actually Aegon Targaryen.

Arya Stark, dies. Why: One of the Starks has to die to make the episode that much more intense and as the last season and considering how many fans love her it makes sense. Her dying will be one of the most heart wrenching scenes of the series not since the red wedding.

Sensa Stark, Lives. Why She has to run Winterfell and her grief when both Arya and Theon dies after the battle will be intense and will rip the hearts out of fans as they watch her grief play out.

Theon Grayjoy, dies. Why: While defending Brandon, his need to redeem himself will only come with his death in saving the Three-Eyed Raven. Plus as said above his death will make for a great grieving scene from Sensa.

Jaime, and Tyrion, both live. Why: Makes no sense to kill them in battle as Bronn is hunting them and the rest of the show will concentrate on Cersi and her army. Tyrion will die later in the episodes to come. Jaime survives up till the last episode and will come full circle killing Cersi and himself, thus removing the Lannister line from the 7 kingdoms.

The Hound, lives. Why: He has yet to fight his brother the Mountain, Cersi’s personal bodyguard. For the series to leave such a fight out of the remaining episodes would be stupid.

Devos, 60-40. Why: For him it could go either way depending on what his role ends up being. He is the only one I am really unsure about.

Brienne, lives. Why: The series can still do a lot with the rising feelings between her and Jaime so to kill her off also kills off possible short bits of comedy in the rest of the upcoming Episodes.

Grey Worm, Podrick, Beric (one eyed), Jorah all die. Why: Podrick will die saving Brienne, Grey Wolf at the head of the unsullied, Beric as its his time. He came to fight the Night King and will die helping to defeat him. Jorah will die somehow defending Daenerys though not sure how he does so.

Eddison, and Tormund, live. Why: Need some beloved characters to die in the final battle against Cersi. Plus makes for a good fun three way drama between Brienne, Jaime, and Tormund in the remaining episodes.

Vary’s, lives. Why: Unless the White Walkers or undead reach the crypts he is safe along with Tyrion. If he leaves the crypts, he dies.

Missandei, lives. Why: I really can’t see any reason to kill her off at this point in the show as she could still play a major part in the upcoming fight between Jon and Daenerys.

Gendry, Lives. Why: Someone outside of Sensa and Jon has to mourn Arya and considering they made love before the battle and knowing he took her virginity her death will be a big hit on him.

Gilly, lives. Why; She is safe in the crypts.

Remember these are just my thoughts, I have no clue if I am any where near what is planned.

*Strange Possibilty: Melisandre shows up bringing or giving some kind of help in defeating the Night King; Her character is still listed as a main character so she has to show up soon.

**Crazy Side Note: Another army, this one all wolves, will show up to hit the undead from behind led by Arya’s Dire Wolf.

In response to Tann

pretty much have thought about and agree with most of your predictions Tann, so I'll just write about the ones in which I diverge:

First and foremost, I didn't realize this until someone pointed it out yesterday, but are the women and children and all the vulnerable people safe in the crypts? How does the Night King raise the dead? Is this a touch spell? What are the limits to his powers? I've seen that if a White Walker takes a living person down, they can rise as one of the Night King's army, what effect is there on the dead? How many dead are in the crypts?

I mean, if the White Walkers get to the crypts, those people are done anyway, but if the Night King has any sort of range on his #RaiseDead magic, they're also done.

"Brandon, and Sam Tulley, survive. Why: they are the only two who can confirm Jon is actually Aegon Targaryen."

I agree that they're the only ones who can confirm, but Jon can ride a dragon, and he should be immune to fire. So despite Bran and Sam likely living due to their +1 Plot Armor, Jon could build a case in his defense as well. I'd say Bran is probably more safe because of everything going on with him, Sam I'm not too sure about. It could really go either way. His death would be brutal to Jon.

"Arya Stark, dies. Why: One of the Starks has to die to make the episode that much more intense and as the last season and considering how many fans love her it makes sense. Her dying will be one of the most heart wrenching scenes of the series not since the red wedding."

I have issue with this just because HOW DARE YOU?! It's mostly just me being a lifelong Stark fan and really really really not wanting to lose any of them. The thought of her dying and rising to fight against them is just devestating. So no real reason she couldn't fall other than I super don't want her to. Plus, I know it'll likely be Jaime to kill Cersei, putting a nice cyclical bow on his storyline, but Cersei has been on Arya's list for so long, I'd be cool with her killing Cersei too.

"Jaime, and Tyrion, both live. Why: Makes no sense to kill them in battle as Bronn is hunting them and the rest of the show will concentrate on Cersi and her army. Tyrion will die later in the episodes to come. Jaime survives up till the last episode and will come full circle killing Cersi and himself, thus removing the Lannister line from the 7 kingdoms."

Just because I'm about 60-40 in favor of Tyrion living through it all, just to spite his s*** family. Still not feeling too confident about that, but I'm leaning in his favor.

"Grey Worm, Podrick, Beric (one eyed), Jorah all die. Why: Podrick will die saving Brienne, Grey Wolf at the head of the unsullied, Beric as its his time. He came to fight the Night King and will die helping to defeat him. Jorah will die somehow defending Daenerys though not sure how he does so."

Jorah I've been waiting to die since season 1. Grey Worm basically told Missandei he only had 2 more weeks until retirement.
But I hadn't. Even. Thought about Podrick, who's now a bad ass, giving his life for Sir Bri Bri. And now I'm crying AND writing about GoT at work. ;_____;

"Eddison, and Tormund, live. Why: Need some beloved characters to die in the final battle against Cersi. Plus makes for a good fun three way drama between Brienne, Jaime, and Tormund in the remaining episodes."

Tormund will live and keep Sir Brienne company as she grieves over Jaime and Pod.

"Strange Possibilty: Melisandre shows up bringing or giving some kind of help in defeating the Night King; Her character is still listed as a main character so she has to show up soon."

I was wondering when she'd pop back in. This seems like a good place.

Just a sidenote I don't want to come true: We're all assuming Cersei is going to die, which makes me second-guess that because this show has done me a lot of psychic damage, and Cersei living would be completely on brand as far as that goes.

Those are my thoughts, and most of my disagreements are emotional regurgitations, though really it's so up in the air. I have no idea. I just feel like the thousands of us watching across the world are going to be doing a lot of weeping together this Sunday.

Best of luck!

No, no, no, no.no.no!!!

In regards to this comment, Tann: "Arya Stark, dies. Why: One of the Starks has to die to make the episode that much more intense and as the last season and considering how many fans love her it makes sense. Her dying will be one of the most heart wrenching scenes of the series not since the red wedding."

I refer you back to my post on page 1 of this thread: "... If Arya dies, I'm going Nyx and killing EVERYONE!!!"

Furthermore, I belive Geroge R.R. Martin's wife specifically told him that if Arya dies she's divorcing him... I think "No One" is safe.

I think I'm wrong

Brandon Stark aka the Three-Eyed Raven wins the Iron Throne. I mean think about it he has the ability to see future and past and knows whats coming right. I think he's doing a much broader Littlefinger plan and setting them all up.

Yep its Brandon, man he is a sneaky lil dude

Maaaybeeee

But does Brandon care about taking the Iron Throne?

Who even is Bran anymore? He's said multiple times in the last two episodes that he's not Brandon Stark. Regardless, whoever he is he doesn't seem to care about ruling the 7 kingdoms. What would his motivation be? What is his motivation in general? I think he just wants to stop the white walkers, but it's difficult to say.

Pssshhh

I . . . I knew that . . .

Lol I thought that maaaaybe you were joking, but it's getting real! And who knows what's going to happen?!

Also, I wanted to edit an earlier comment I made about Jon: he can ride the dragons because he's a Targaryen, but not all Targs are fireproof, so I'm retconning my proof-of-Targaryen-ness via fire immunity. HOWEVER, it would be dope if Dany tried to kill Jon by having one of her dragons spit fire on him and him walking out of the flames butt-naked like, "There's a new bish in town!"
