Unfortunately, the whole "is the site dead" tends to be a self-fulfilling prophecy sometimes - people see little activity, shrug, and move on. I for one still remember the heydays of the chat and mayhem freeform threads, and am glad the whole place hasn't moved to Discord/Reddit/Facebook/etc. like so many others.
