Hey Looey!... and GM

Brom,

Any insight as to what the Looey would like to see happen? Shoot first, ask questions later?

from the private who likes his orders simple

Olan,

Question about my grenades (from both the launcher and the hand ones): If I fire one off will my team mates likely to be caught in the blast? I'm not really worried about anything else blowing up in the room (save the robot). Your post seems to suggest that all the flammable stuff has already been torch.

Also, is there any noticeable (heavy) weapons on any of the vehicles in the room? And do they look like they are in working condition?

Thanks!

mister good question...

I get the impression from Brom that he does not want to fire until fired upon.

A well-aimed 40mm grenade will not include any team mebers in the blast radius (these typically cover about half the area of a normal hand grenade), provided they stay out of melee. Ideally, you'll have 25+ feet to fire the grenade round; less than that, and it will not arm. In a perfect world, you'd like 40 feet.

Note that the vehicles are not burned up, merely cut opn, as if being scavenegd for parts. They may be somewhat soot covered, but they have not burned.

There are no heavy weapons, or weapons of any sort, on any of the vehicles. These are simply personnel carriers for artcic climates, not conbat vehicles.

Some more questions...

Is it possible to determine (prior to the robot's appearance) where the fire originated from? Does it look like a number of explosives went off? Or laser burns? Or anything else?

Also, are our weapons (specifically, Denes' M19A2) equipped with any kind of targetting system. i.e. laser sights, scope, iron sights, etc?

Regarding the robot, I know I asked a similiar question, but: does it appear that the robot is made from unusual/ unknown material? Or can we tell that the thing's body looks like it's made from steel, or some other known substance?

Also, the turret on the robot. Does it appear to be a single-type weapon (like a gatling gun) or does it seem to be a multi-type weapon system which the robot can choose from a selection of options i.e. it's got a laser cannon, a mini-missile launcher, a machine-gun, etc?

Also, how tall/ big is the robot? How far away is it from our location? What's in between us and it currently? How far away are we from the exits (specifically, the Rec Room door)

Is it possible to go under the vehicles? How much space is there between the body of the vehicles and the floor? Is it possible to shoot out from under the vehicles?

Thanks!

confarnit, man!

It is impossible to tell where the fire originated; this room is blackened, but it does not appear that there was extensive damage here.

Aside from the sniper, your weapons are equipped with standard sights.

It is impossible to tell at this time what the robot's body may be made from. If you live through the altercation, feel free to examine it, or to get out your junior chemistry set, but in the time alloted, you notice that it is shiny metal, and trying to kill you.

The turret appears to be one single, albeit strange, weapon. something like a mini tank cannon, perhaps?

The robot is right around seven feet tall. At the moment, you have a clear line of fire - there is nothing between you and it. You are probably fifteen feet from the rec room door. There is approximately twenty-five feet between the fire team and the robot. this room is approximately 40' x 40' square.

It would be very difficult (but not impossible) to shimmy under one of the two larger vehicles. Likewise, it would be possible to shoot from under a vehicle, butt he angle would be quite awkward.

LOL

Nothing like getting shot at by a mini-tank cannon. That makes me feel REAL good!

How cold is

How numb are Inga's fingers? Somewhat numb but still can function, or totally num and incapable to moving?

By rubbing her hands briskly can she get them to work. Left hand is not so important ans right since she needs her trigger fingers to work. Left arm supports rifle; palm of hand mostly holds the it steady. I believe

lucky for you, it is a game

Like I said, I did not apply frostbite. So basically, I'm handling the damage in an abstract, D&D way - you are hurt, but can still function. The only impediment you currently have is fatigue (penalty to DEX and STR, cannot run or charge)... and everyone has this, so don't feel rained on.

Assume your fingers have warmed enough for you to shoot, write, pick your nose, whatever needs doing.

I tried..

I tried to add to Ayrn's questions, but I couldn't think of anything...

Hold fire until fired upon. That's Monty's logic.

Inga

I wasn't reeling rained upon. I just wanted clarification.

So, D&D style it is. Your are injured and functional until you are dead or unconsious. Got it.

some FYI

I am placing events in a slighty different order.

Brom's post had it like this:

Robot initiates attack sequence.

Denes fires a shot.

Blake sends her challenge to the robot.

robot reacts, rangers take cover.

Instead, I'm having it this way:

Robot initiates attack sequence.

Blake sends her challenge to the robot.

robot reacts.

Denes fires a shot.

rangers take cover.

I don't think Denes would fire if Blake's suggestion works, you see. GM peroggative.

gol ding it!

My combat post got eaten by the void monster, and I have a meeting to attend.

Keep an eye out, info is coming...

By the way, Kernan gave no order to hold fire until fired upon, and the thing DID seem hostile. Just sayin.

Wow! What an enjoyable read, Olan! Good work.
