Story!

I have longed for and dream of playing in a game that follows a central story and not having to re-roll every few sessions. Sadly I have not found a game like that in my DnD-lifetime, but I would love to take a character from his modest low level origins and follow him through all sorts of different stories and adventures, watching as he grows in power and fame. Sadly every game I've played in has never given me that feel, its either a short couple session game, or my character gets murdered off and I have to start all over with less actual knowledge of the going-ons my other character would have had, with the new character being treated like an outsider by the rest of the group because he wasn't there from the start..
