Group 1 Sentinel and Fandil ...

..... we really need your input here guys because this is an obviously pivotal point in the direction our group takes in the near future!

As much as I personally want to get on with this adventure and especially with the recent delays this past week, I think it even more important for you guys to contribute your thoughts here before we proceed further!

Please speak up here because your input is very important in this situation!

Group 1 Gunther's options ...

..... are to either defer the questions to another character in our party while the young Paladin burns a turn to utilize his holy symbol to focus in total silence to determine any Evil Intent by either the mayor or his older companion ...

... which I think is a waste of a round for Gunther given this particular situation and my own gut feeling ...

... or ... since Gunther has the high Charisma rating and has already opened the way with his flamboyant performance with his initial greeting ..... then Gunther should proceed with answering Mayor Ormond's question!

We also need to keep in mind that the mayor has set the guideline of asking a question for each question asked.

Now we can either go through a long drawn out process ... or ... provide some input here with not only our questions, but our answers to any questions that are asked ... then post those possible answers along with our list of questions when posting at An Evil in Orlane.

Personally I want to post at An Evil in Orlane after I get home from the hockey league later tonight. Right now it is around 4:30am on early Monday morning. I woke up to listen to the Tigers baseball game over the internet ...

... so I will check back from time to time from the office later today and provide any more input on questions and answers if anything comes to mind during the day.

Again, we need input from everyone in our small party ... so please speak up today!

Not saying you shouldn't talk it over, but...

You're probably not in a position to banter back and forth taking suggestions, being that you're sitting right across the table from the man.

Just saying, this might be one of those times that winging it would probably be understandable. Perhaps even expected.

Just a thought from elsewhere in the village

My Understanding is ...

..... that on this Q&A thread we are able to discuss what we are doing within our own groups and not with anyone else that our group is separated from in the game!

What we decide here within our own group is then incorporated into the An Evil in Orlane thread by what we individually post over there if I am not mistaken!

Is that correct Trip?

Sentinel The Small and friend Gnome

Agreed. Be honest - sorta.
Perhaps say some adventurers and some wanting to settle down and we heard of the issues in this city and the possibility of free land. Let's ask directly and specifically. FIRST - who is the mayor; that is whom we want to talk to.

Perhaps Oriel should talk as the aladin has been chastised for his methods?

And let's not get in a hurry, Hammer. There are 4 of us in this small group and 13 on the whole adventure together. Let's take all the time we need to do it well and full of fun.

Both us "small guys" will listen alertly, be aware of surroundings, etc. We will follow, for the moment. Sentinel reads lips, so he will also use that talent where he can.

Sounds good to me ...

..... and we just need to solidify the questions and the possible answers we are prepared to deliver!

I have NO Problem with Oriel or Sentinel or Fandil taking the lead in asking the questions.

Maybe I will just go ahead and burn a turn on the Evil Intent just to keep my mouth shut for now!

Hopefully Nomad will check in here and if he would be so kind as to take the lead in questioning, then I will burn a round on the Evil Intent ability with that Emerald Eyed Owl sitting there on the table.

Nomad would it be in character for Oriel to go ahead and take the lead in asking some questions since the mayor is obviously some type of warrior in his younger years?

Then Gunther will just go ahead and burn a round on the Evil Intent ability!

Whatever the 3 of you decide is fine with me!

Oriel can ask

Oriel is certainly willing to ask questions. Overall he tends towards honesty as the best method, so that is what he would do here. Of course, what one leaves out becomes an open question.

In response to his question ("What really brought you here?" I believe - I'll double check before I post anything on the other forum) Oriel will be fairly honest.
Something like: "We heard about the many problems that have your town has been having and we wanted to come and check them out. Yes, we are a band of adventurers, but as Gunther's introduction hopefully demonstrated, we are here for honorable reasons. There seems to be a problem - we want to help. As for settling down, yes, that is a possibility for some."

The first logical question seems to be: "Are you the mayor?" Or, "Who are you and what is your role in this town?"
My one concern with this is that I almost want to start on the more important questions first, but that doesn't seem possible.

I think we can generally say that we will answer honestly (without mentioning the merchant if possible) allowing Trip to perhaps Post a couple of questions at a time.

So, I would like ideas for specific questions. A few to consider:

1. How long has this problem been going on?
2. What do you know about the problems?
3. Who was the last family to disappear?
4. Which familys have gone and then returned?
5. The crops look prosperous, yet the town is failing, why?
6. Uhmmm.....I need something specific to ask, and the only details I can think of off hand come from the other groujps threads so Oriel wouldn't know them.

My suggestion

Just to clarify, I was making a suggestion about RPing, not about what your characters should do.

Theoretically, you're no more able to chat with your party members while sitting at the table during an interrogation than you are to chat with me from down the street.

Also, to be clear, I'm not "rules-lawyering", just adding a bit of insight that may or may not be pertinent. Just an FYI, if I'm stuck in a situation similar to this, in the spirit of RP, I'll probably respond without consulting the group in this forum.

Group 3

Well we got a little information from the lady. I suggest maybe we make for the trees and the man who lives in them. We can come back to the inn later for food and a room if we want.

introduction

i guess i need to write a little bit about severous meeting the group and something about where i'm from. i agree with the trees, it would be good to look around the inn if this is where we're going to stay. i would like to see what the access to the windows is from the ground and from any overhanging trees. give us an idea of a possible escape route too in case we need it in the middle of the night.

Attendance

Well its hard to keep something like this going. I knew from the start that it is a time consuming effort.

Looking back I should have just done it like a dungeon crawl, where I post the long descriptions (or short as need be) and you just post your characters actions without the lengthy posting that takes up so much time.

We have had some drops and some that just didn't show or had other things going on.

If you really want to continue, just post a I will continue thread and I will see what I can do to combine the current group into 1 and go from there. If you aren't still interested, I understand. These things take up a lot of time and effort to post generously. I think if it works out and we continue that will be fine, but I am thinking of starting a simple hack and slash dungeon crawl next time.

i will continue

hey Trip I'm having a blast. i think it will be much better with fewer players anyway. if you want to give a time to meet on here and get in an hour or two of some serious play i'm ready. would really hate to see this disolve into just a hack and slash i'm enjoying the mystery. but i'm for whatever the will of the group is. maybe those that have give up can disappear like the townspeople.

I haven't played in over 20 years, and I'm enjoying this even at the slow crawl. Whatever is necessary, Trip.
