Delacard had the time to enjoy only half of his meal when the door of the inn was opened hard, causing the Dwarf to half choke on a chunk of fatty mutton in surprise.

"Arvin, we need your group now! The undead are clawing at the gates!" A voice cried, belonging to one of the town guardsmen, the poor man soaked to the bone, and pale with fear. Arvin, with the readiness of a man half his age, jumped to his feet, ordering the party to gear up, and was off after the guard. Dropping his plate instantly, the self-titled Paladin of Creht and began strapping on his armor. Heavier than most, it would take him the longest to don, even in his haste, and his sputtered curses almost drown out the voice of Pynn, saying "You heard Arvin, gear up and I'll take you to the gates."

Subject: Rest for the Goodly

Apon the ending of Zilvra and his discussion, and the acknowledgment of the hideous weather, Delacard wasted no more energy on words, intent on simply reaching the inn before he was soaked to the bone. Though most of the rain slipped over his fine mesh of steel, he was far from water proof, and by the time his short legs got him to safety, he just knew he would be miserable. However, unlike the others, he had no interest in a room, as before, and instead moved with the Wizard to sit near the fire, pulling up a chair and stripping the armor. It was no quick task, and he had barely removed his vambraces and shoulder guards when Sirion spoke.

"Anyone know anything about the undead? One advantage to fighting goblins was that once you killed them, you could be pretty sure that they were going to stay dead. But once you bust up a skeleton, how do you know it is going to stay busted? It was already dead after all." He asked, before requesting knowledge of holy water from Pynn.

"Can't says I know alot about em, but fer what I was taught, but it be hard to get back up if yer appendages be destroyed." He says with a good natured grin. "Figure destroy the body beyond usefulness and it'll be dead fer good, or at least unable to pose a threat. Fire works good too, I suppose..." he finishes, continuing to remove his plate mail and set each piece close to the fire to dry. Once done, he rests back in his chair, trusting the heat to dry him out as he awaits the reading of the book. He would order no Ale tonight, though a plate of hot food might be welcomed in a while...

Slade had barely left Hodges side when he detected something, a sound. Groaning from beyond the blast door, as if something very large was.... yes, he could see it now, ever so slightly... The door was being pushed? Was that even possible? That door had to be several tons, but something was MOVING it!

Swallowing, despite his dry throat, he backed away, activating his comm. "Boys, I think things just got worse..." He managed to growl, licking his lips in anticipation. "Something is... I dunno, pushing the door.... Something big, I'd wager...."

He refused to turn and run, to seek the shelter of the barricade and risk losing the initiative. Against all of his better judgement, he continued to face the door, backing away slowly. Whatever it was, he would shoot it first.... He wouldn't be taken in the back. Yet he felt it, whatever it was, would break through before he found safety. Whatever it was, it would be his end.... His hands tightened on the rifle, it's stock pressed against his shoulder so tightly it felt as though it would break. It took all of his self control to keep his trigger finger steady, and his eyes clear against the sweat pouring down his face. This was it......

Im with Sadaar, aint never got to play a planes game before. sounds fun either way, with alot of possibilities for such powerful players to have their own agendas, some of which may be less than goodly, and all with the chance of re-shaping the cosmos. I can already see what i would try to do..... it involves becoming a god (In a matter of speaking)

cant say i got any ideas for you, but just wanted to say it looks like a great idea.

Subject: A title to grow in to

"A Paladin, eh? What brings you all the way up to here?"

Delacard heard from behind, or rather, above him as the party made their way from the mayor's office, and turned to look apon the darkened elf. He has seen the creature multiple times, but as was his way, hadn't bothered to assume as to her heritage. Now, however, the elf stood just this close to him, asking him about his title. Still, he supposed, all would be revealed in time.

Smiling kindly, the dwarf replied, "Why, I come from jus' south o' here, from the dwarven mines. This's always been me area ta protect, though the news o' undead be news to me." Frowning slightly, a bit perplexed, he adds, "I actually be a bit surprised I ain't heard o' this before a group assembled... But I suppose I only been known to drive off the occasional goblin pack here'n there. And yerself, she-elf? A warrior no doubtin', but can't say I know o' yer kind... a darker breed, fer sure..."

Delacard's morning was met with groggy sickness. The ale had been good, but as always, it stung him profoundly the morning after. Penance, he imagined as always, for what else could it be but retribution for a pleasant evening?

Still, upon hearing Pynn offering out eggs breakfast, the dwarf found himself lifting his head from the bar top, his fiery beard half matted in drool and whatever was left of the previous night's last mug. For most, it would have been a rather humiliating realization, but for him, it was simply what it was. There was no shame in enjoying one's self, after all, and certainly none in being the one who obviously enjoyed it more than the rest. Smiling kindly, despite the headache, Delacard accepted the meal, showing his appreciation by digging in ravenously in traditional dwarven manner until the rest of the party seemed ready to head out. Hopping down from the stool, he gave a slight bow to Pynn, saying,

"We be thankful for yer charitable ways, half-orc. And we'll be doin' our best in whatever venture this be ta pay ya back."

Grinning through his now egg-speckled beard, the short-legged hero moved off to follow his comrades.

_______________________________________________

Delacard had made up his mind as soon as the word 'undead' was muttered. Nothing in this world was worse than walking corpses. Not even goblins, if only by a small margin. Eyes twinkling in delight at the group's seemingly unanimous consent to help, the dwarf was the next to step forward, his hammer and axe clanking slightly as they did with every movement.

"The Paladin of Creht, Delacard Mackarrel, the whispering Dwarf, and servant of Tulis, shall see these monsters destroyed, and this town safe!" He pronounced, pounding a plated fist against his chest. "And I be needin' no price fer it, mark me. Give me share to the others here, when we be finished."

Hodges met Slade's comment with a small, nervous chuckle. "It seems so. Let us not waste the opportunity. After all, to be a Hero, one must survive their first real battle. I don't care to be a martyr."

Re-setting his feet, the trooper's rifle remains leveled at the door. He was glad for his helmet, that his fellows could not see the sweat greasing his brow.

"Hey, guys, help me get a good barricade up!" Riggs sounded from behind them, and Hodges nods. "Go help him, Slade, I got this. Better we get it up fast, or we will all be mowed down."

The road was long, and very little gave much for entertainment. But such was the life of Delacard, Hero of these lands, for there was rarely anything that required his attention. His was a simple existence of Altruism and charity. And though the others, one and all hardy adventurers from their dress, might have found the trip stagnent, even gloomy, The light-hearted dwarf rarely let his smile waver. All through the 1st 4 days, he whistled, hummed, spoke with any who approached, joked, and even sang once or twice, though it was far from lovely. He hadn't been to Dalhurst in months, and it would be good returning. Doubtless, the young human boy Tommis would greet his caravan, as he always did.

Delacard patted his belt pouch happily, checking to make sure the honey-glass treats were still there. But as the trip wore on, the clouds thickened, and so did the Dwarf's expression. There would be rain, he knew, and made a small grumble of distaste. One thing he had never gotten used to in human lands, the damnable weather. Dwarven tunnels were not so plagued by such a curse as an open sky, that may spew forth any manner of bothersome irritations. Still, he would not return to such a constricted life.

Amazingly, it did not rain this day, but as the 6th came, so to did the weather. It seemed to come down in sheets, accompanied by massive gusts of wind that drowned out the loud curses of the small bearded caravan leader. And the next day was no better, it's only saving grace being the sight of the Dalhurst wall. And what a welcome sight it was. and as miracles go, the closer they drew, the less it rained, until finally, the sun appeared above, brightening the day, and his dwarven heart.

As they drew closer Arvin spoke again. "Now everyone be on your guard, we are not as safe as you'd like to think." When the caravan finally drew up the gate a lone guard halted them. The guard looked haggard and worn, and his armour and halberd did not look any better.

"Who goes there? No one has come up this road in many months. What is your business?" Arvin climbed down from out of the wagon he had been sitting in and walked to the guard. He handed the guard something and the two exchanged whispers. As Arvin walked back to the wagon the guard stood aside to let the caravan continue.

"Welcome to Dalhurst adventurers, pray the gods be with you on your journey."

Delacard offered the guardsman a nod, though he was surprised the man had not recognized him. Still, it had been many months... As they made their way through the gates, Delacard was met with another disappointment. No Tommis. He had been hoping to see the small boy, all toothy grins and attempted dwarf-speech. Sighing a bit, he removed his hand from his sweet pouch and continued on, until Arvin stopped everyone and brought them together.

"Before I can explain what is happening here I must go find the mayor and tell him you are here to help. Meanwhile make your way to the Grey Leg Inn, tell them Arvin sent you and they will get you set up with room and board, and have somewhere safe your wagons and livestock my good Dwarf. Now be off with you, await me at the Inn and I'll return before sundown."

As they followed his instructions, making their way through the muddy streets, Delacard took more time to peer around, judging how the place looked since his last visit. But he could tell very little, in all honestly. It looked as all human towns did, and to a dwarf, they all looked the same.

Apon coming to the Inn, they met a man, or rather, a half man, half orc that directed them inside, and took the reigns from Delacard. So lost in his considerations was he that, though he had barely heard the man, he gave them over without a fight. This was, after all, a safe place. A place that would remember him, Delacard the Hero, before much longer. Mind still on the lack of greeting from his young friend, the Dwarf made his way inside, at the back of the party, catching wind of free drinks. And he would happily use them, to be sure. The storm had dampened his spirits, and worn his nerves. Tonight, he would drain an entire cask, should his fortitude hold. A small smile entered his beard at that, and he found himself a seat at the bar, ordering his 1st drink......

By the time Arvin had returned, informing the party of their meeting with the mayor, Delacard's face rested on the bar, his hand still gripping his mug, and his back rising slowly with monstrous snores. And anyone who knew a dwarf would know there was no waking the stout man without a good club...

The trip was short, by any spacer's standards, though Drunik's excitement did drag it out a bit. Barely beyond the known borders of the charted galaxy, and already a planet. His stomach fluttered with mounting curiosity, his desire to explore overpowering his wish to remain in his ship. Even the evident lack of oceanic boundaries did little to diminish his growing smile.

"Strange.... so little water, yet so many trees... must have one hell of a rainy season." The metallic voice of GeeDee sounded next to him, but the Quarren only shook his head.

"Likely, we will discover a network of streams, or underground channels once we break the canopy. I doubt water will be an issue."

Looking back over his shoulder to the rest of the crew present, Drunik continues, "Any particular preference of landing zones? I am thinking that large clearing over there." Pointing to the largest of the visible fields.

A series of clicks issue forth as GeeDee's thin digits dance over the controls. "Checking scanners for life forms now, gents. I trust you meat sacks will want to know of any particularly large predators in the region..."

((OOC: Ask for desired landing space, GeeDee scans as the ship moves slowly over landscape))

"Well it appears we passed the first hurdle in this mission. Shall we be on our way men?" Drunik heard over his shoulder, cocking his head to the side, the pale tentacles curling a bit as he did so.

"Aye, Master Jedi. No sweat. Seems them I.D.'s came in handy though." He gurgled merrily, to which his metallic companion added, "And offered fodder, it seems. We may find a nice place for them to get bent in..."

If it was a joke was impossible to distinguish, but the Quarren seemed to pay it no mind. He turned back to Valum, his mandibles twitching. "Now the real games begin though, eh? One hour out. Better let our fellow crew members know to lock and load."

The jump from hyperspace brought a shiver to the Quarren. To leave the charted regions seemed somehow... wrong. Shaking his head, he looked to DeeBee, who was already going to town on the computers.

"Looks like we have three systems on track... Unknown condit-, wait... Boss, i am picking up a signal... It's faint, but... looks like another system. Very old.... " He looks to Drunik, who looks over his shoulder.

"Master Jedi, Sergeant... I ain't the navigator on this job, which way?" He called, blinking his milky eyes slowly.

The expected addition of metallic speech came immediately, adding, "I would like to see the ancient sector, if you please...." It's yellow eyes also appeared, watching those assembled...

Subject: A quiet Journey

There had been little activity for the first leg of the flight from Coruscant, with most of the 'crew' hiding away in their respective quarters, leaving Drunik and GeeDee to their work. Occasionally, someone would make themselves present, only to again shuffle off. GeeDee himself loved those moments, giving him the opportunity to throw out some snarky comment or sarcastic reply. But Drunik had expected a little more interaction. Three days, and all he knew about his companions was that he now traveled with a Jedi, and two trigger-happy soldiers. He wasn't even sure any of them liked a good game of Pazaak... And that was bothersome indeed...

But finally, they reached Gannaria, their first check point. though they wouldn't be stopping, it was always nice to see a planet, or a station. hell, anything that wasn't just blank space. The Quarren watched said world for a good amount of time, dearly wanting to stop... but they had orders.

"GeeDee, take us around, and prep us for another jump..." He growled glumly, resting back in his chair.

"Um, Dru... We may have a-" GeeDee began, his glowing eyes starring at the scanners. But he was cut short as the comm unit sounded.

"Attention unidentified Pursuer Class enforcement ship! This is Frigate 72 Delta 89b. Please state designation and purpose in this sector!" It called, making Drunik bolt upright. Looking to GeeDee, the droid simply nodded.

"It is a Munificent Class Frigate, boss... And weapons are hot and locked on us..."

The Scoundrel groaned. This wasn't exactly unexpected, but he had hoped to avoid it. "Don't suppose the Hyperdrive is ready..."

"You are a master prophet, indeed, sir..." The droid growled back. It was obvious the hyperdrive wasn't ready yet. They had only been here a moment...

"Ya, ya, shut it, you stupid gearbox, before i scrap you for a new model." Drunik said with a small grin, before pressing the comm to the crew. "We got company. Ima try to get us out of here... Stay tight.."

Switching the channel to the Frigate, Drunik rummaged through the items piled on his console.

"72 Delta 89b, this is the Miraculous (GF-17, Gannarian Patrol) of the Confederate Police Force. Captain Aryg speaking. We are on the search for Republic spies. Cargo, my crew, armor and equipment." He speaks, sounding ALMOST professional... "We are on a bit of a time crunch, Delta, so if we could wrap this up..."

Hodges grinned at that. So look who had the sand now... He was about to reply when a loud groan sounded from the door, setting Slade back on his heels, rifle raised and ready. Hodges wasn't far behind, scrambling to his feet and hitting the wall right next to the door, blaster raised, meaning to stay out of line of sight, and get the advantage, assuming an entire platoon would be pouring through any moment.

"Hodges, I'm going to try to fashion me a hand grenade from this power pack," he heard Riggs call, knelt over some jumbles of electronics. "If I'm really on my toes, I can have it set to explode when I turn it on rather than immediately after I build it!"

Great, Hodges thought. So if the luck wasn't with em, Riggs would blow em all sky high. Still, it was looking like that might be the case anyways, so Hodges gave a vigorous nod. "Sounds good, Mate.Make it a big one!" he shouts, rolling his shoulders and preparing for the fight of their lives.....
