Personal Bio:
The Reid family has had a creed since the early days of what was called the Wild West. The linage could be traced back to John Reid, the brother of Captain Daniel Reid of the Texas Rangers. He had sworn to bring the murders of his brother to justice. After that was done he and his native American companion Tonto continued to fight injustice. In time he declared:

I believe...
that to have a friend, a man must be one.
that all men are created equal and that everyone has within himself the power to make this a better world.
that God put the firewood there, but that every man must gather and light it himself.
in being prepared physically, mentally, and morally to fight when necessary for that which is right.
that a man should make the most of what equipment he has.
that 'this government of the people, by the people, and for the people' shall live always.
that men should live by the rule of what is best for the greatest number.
that sooner or later...somewhere...somehow...we must settle with the world and make payment for what we have taken.
that all things change but truth, and that truth alone, lives on forever.
in my Creator, my country, my fellow man.
This became the creed of those family members who chose to stand up for those that could not stand for themselves. One of those was a young Midwest publisher of the Daily Sentinel, Britt Reid. He stood with his Asian companion Kato. These three families have carried on the battle.

John is more of a regular guy, but he can not just stand by when there is a wrong that isn't being addressed.

He was also an Eagle Scout. He learned to Be Prepared, Help Others At All Times, Keep Himself Physically Strong, Mentally Awake and Morally Straight. When asked, "What are you some kind of Boy Scout?" he would proudly answer with a serious face, "Yes".

John enjoys games and challenges, but was not driven to win at all cost, that is saved for real life. It was easy to think of him as your Big Brother, even if he was younger.

He is also a BIG flirt. Raised to respect women he also learned to appreciate them.

His family had long been associated with being there when the public good was in need so being guided to attend Star Fleet Academy was seen to by the family.

There had been a strong family commitment to duty and John originally took studies for the Star Fleet Marines. While there he was recruited for "Special Operations" Star Fleet training, a covert action group.

Just before completing his special ops training he received the family heirloom, a silver bullet in crystal cube. He knew that meant that one of the other Reid's had died in the duty of protecting the innocent and the legacy was being passed to him. His choice was to accept it or send it to someone else. He was chosen because he had always shown he cared for others. He could never let bullies push the little kids around. He didn't pass the training. Failing on purpose, that way he got training but would not have go with the "Hard Core". The hard choice was turning down the SFMC commission and accept the SF commission. He had chosen to continue the family legacy and protect those in need in the final frontier.

While assigned to the USS Mandela his quick actions and insight foiled an assassination attempt by extremist from New Bolarus wanting to enrage Moropa radicals and break the truce between the Bolian government and Moropa. For his actions and in appreciation for saving the life of the Moropain Representative from what was to look like a Bolian attack he was awarded a Special Commendation from the Bolian Government and its Representative to Moropa. For the remainder of the assignment John was assigned as personal security to the Bolian representative.
