Alan exceeds in medical studies with special interest in prosthetics, bionics and cybernetics with minor interest in pharmaceuticals. He also enjoys medieval history, strategic games, and puzzles. In the martial arts and phazer marksmanship, Alan barely passes the minimum requirements for a star fleet officer. When asked what he’d do if he’d faced a dangerous situation, he would reply, “That’s why I carry a hypo spray”. He can pilot a small shuttle or craft but rarely exceeds speed limits. He has a basic understanding of engineering, but mostly in relations to cybernetic implants. |

Alan was someone who has had everything in life given to him - rich family, naturally very bright so school was easy for him – Alan coasted through life with a smile. Then he gets into an accident. If was his own foolishness, borrowing his Father’s Mark VII in order to impress a girl, he lost control of the runabout and crashed it into the nearby lake. If it weren’t for a starfleet vessel on a training mission, detecting the crash, Alan would have died that day. His legs were crushed in the debris and pressure, plus he lost his left eye and left ear due to the impact of his head with debris.
But he was rescued and through the miracles of "modern medicine" he is able to get cybernetic legs, eye and ear. They work like normal limbs or senses (he is not the bionic man) and are almost indistinguishable from regular body parts. A slight colour variance in the eye (one is more blue that the other) is the only visible difference.
The experience changed Alan’s perspectives. The wonders of the medical world that gave him back his life lead him to seek out a career in medicine. He applies himself at school, goes through pre-med and starts medical college via star fleet academy. He is especially interested with artificial limbs and organs.
He has just graduated from the academy with honours. He is now embarking on a medical internship on a starship and as an Ensign.
Alan has short cropped blond hair with blue eyes. He keeps himself clean-shaven. As for personality - he is very intelligent, but withdrawn by choice. He is somewhat arrogant and brash which can get him into trouble and keeps people away. He wants to be the best at anything to which he applies himself. He considers himself an intellectual. He keeps himself in healthy shape and form, but does not participate in sports, partially out of consciousness of his artificial limbs. The crash also left Alan with a fear of water that he has not yet managed to overcome. He never swims, and avoids large bodies of water. He even prefers sonic showers to water. |
