You come in individually in order of how you post. If you already came in, then you see the next people come in, and you can reply with a welcome or whatever.

I guess I should have made this more clear earlier.

I am going to go 24 hours with time updates.

Please include a location stamp when posting. Once you get together, you'll be on the same time frame, so time stamps will only be necessary when the party is split up (perish the thought!).

Post as often as you like, but it is polite to take turns. But again, post as often as you like. In 24 hours I will advance the story, but I will also roleplay with npc's if you talk to them.

The Calendar

The year is 310 days long.

The seasons and weather are determined by which moons are in the sky. There are three moons and they move about the earth very slowly. The three moons are called Dosojin, the Fisher's moon, which appears blue in the sky. Magratha the Traveler's Moon, it appears green and blue. Then there's Saye, the Coming Dragon. It appears like a black orb with cracks all over its surface, the cracks bright red and orange, the color of lava. Stories passed down from the ancients tell us that this is the home of the dragons. Long ago, the moon Saye was close to the earth, and it passed close enough for the dragons to cross over into this realm.

There are eight months, each 35 days long.

Spring is 70 days long and generally consists of springlike weather after a very violent thaw that almost always leads to flash floods in East Rose and Norcross, and even Bizzuks. Six Towers is usually completely functional, due to architectural precautions: every building in the whole lake area is on stilts. Spring has two moons in the sky, Dosojin and Magratha. Spring has two months, Ironar and Elmonth.

Overspring is 70 days long and has very warm weather for a normal spring of the specific climate. Flora and fauna flourish during this time, and in Overspring the majority of crops are grown. Overspring has one moon, Magratha. It also has two months, Oakorn and Mapleus.

First Stillness is 10 days long, where the three moons are aligned as far apart as they can get. There is no wind, no tide, and almost all activity stops. Travel is probably best during a stillness on land, but impossible without rowers on water. Only Magratha is visible in the sky.

Summer is 70 days and is filled with blistering heat and lots of rain. None of the moons are visible during the entire season, and maybe that has something to do with the heat. Summers are periods of intense growth for plantlife and a period of relative dormancy for animals, except nocturnal ones and lizardlike creatures, which also flourish at this time. Again, there are two months, Teakun and Pecanor.

Second Stillness is 10 days long and again, the moons are aligned opposite each other. Again, no wind and no tide. The temperature always drops during a Stillness, but in this Stillness, all the moons are visible just above the horizon, and the temperature drops more than on other Stillnesses.

Winter is 70 days long, and the temperature continues to drop as the three moons rise int he sky as they slowly spiral around the horizon. All winter long the moons periodically eclipse the sun. This is referred to as the White Blinking, in reference to the effect these periodic eclipses have on the local temperature. However, two of the moons slink off towards the end of the season, leaving Dosojin in the sky again and heralding the Third Stillness. There are two months in winter as well, Cedarom and Sprucus.

Third Stillness is 10 days long and cold, and the temperature drops steadily in those days. No wind, no tides. Again, travel is relatively easy on land during this time. However, it is very dangerous to go outside at this time, as it is extremely cold in most climates. Even in the deserts of Devil's Spire, the temperature stays below freezing the whole time. Only Magratha and Saye are visible.

Currently, the season is Spring, fifteenth day of Elmonth.

Background:
Born in Blackfey Marshes. Moved to East Rose Proper at age 17. Left East Rose Proper at age 30.

Description:
6'1, skinny, and very light skin. Not a pasty white, though, he just doesn't tan or burn very easily. Eyes are gray with flecks of pale blue. His raven hair is cut just short enough so as not to need fussing with and will stay off his forehead. The shape and length(just long enough to avoid being called stubble) in which he maintains his mustache, goatee, and partial beard makes his cheeks look even more hollow than they actually are.

Ixion's attire is dark, all black save for his weapon belt(which is dark brown) and his shirt(which is a long-sleeved, billowing white affair), though the latter is mostly hidden by a leather vest. Between the shirt's laces at his neck you can just make out the silvery links of chainmail. Finishing off the outfit is a dark gray hooded cloak draped about his shoulders that looks like it would provide decent protection against both wind and rain.

Skill Checks

Shaithis, is there any particular way you'd like us to notate skill usage in the posts?

To Stryke

Did I read that properly? Torigad is extremely disheveled when Ixion first meets him?

I went back through and read the posts again and if I made Torigad more of a mess than you intended, Ixion's reaction was way too harsh.

Good God...

...I've created a monster. If Ixion is too abrasive for anyone, please tell me now before I post too many times with this guy. I've still got some room to tweak his personality, but another week or so and we'll all be stuck with this... uh, "arrogant (CENSORED)" as my fiancé put it.

I'm having fun playing someone so very much unlike myself, but I don't want to ruin the experience for anyone/everyone else just so I can play "I wonder what this'll be like."

Good to know

This is my first play-by-post game and I'm still not used to having to wait for the other characters to react to stuff i've done / am doing. Plus the text format has the added difficulty of not conveying body language and tone of voice very well and I'm afraid I'm going to cross a line with this guy and not know it until a day and a half later.

Sorry guys

Yeah, things are taking off kind of slowly, and I apologize. Hammer and I are still working out his character, and Oko is constrained by timeframe and is still "hammering" out her character too. I am also currently in almost hostile negotiations with two other potential players... one has already made his character, but as yet has not made a profile here.

Whenever you wish to use a skill, either include it in double parenthesis:

((Hey DM, I want to use Sense Motive on Torigad, I think he's hiding something))

Or send me a pm if you'd rather be less obvious about it.

Also, yes, always leave room in the threads for folk to interrupt you, or stop you before you leave, etc. So the best thing I've found to do is make an exit take two posts.
Announce your intent to leave the room

"Ixion, weary of these foolish persons, stands and heads for the door."

And then wait for a reasonable amount of time and then leave.

"Ixion goes outside and yadda yadda yadda..."

However, we have a game here where there will be some posters taking longer than others.. some will only be posting once a day, so when the game actually starts moving, you frequent posters may want to slow down a little bit. Although, if all you're gonna do is minor stuff and roleplay amongst the group, I don't see there being a problem there. Some people are just more talkative...

But I do want to point out how enormoursly entertaining the Ixion-Torigad dynamic is to watch unfold here...

Seriously thought about ...

..... beginning to post today on my day off, but without all my character info I am not comfortable posting and then being in a situation of interacting with the other characters!

So I will just wait until my character is complete!

What you others are doing is an enjoyable reading experience and prods me to start writing!

Ok,

I have a question for you guys.

Would you have a problem with me making your characters say things sometimes, like an explanation here or a description of knowledge there, or would you rather have me pm you the info and have you filter your own comments?
