Damage is Weapon Dependent

Notice there is some confusion with the new D&D players as to what dice should be rolled for damage. S/M means small/medium and L means large (these refer to the size of the oppoent).

S=I believe encompasses halflings and lower
M=Roughly human size up to about 7 feet
L=Here are your ogres and bigger baddies

Sling--determined by ammo
*Sling Bullet--1d4+1 vs S/M and 1d6+1 vs L
*Sling Stone--1d4 vs S/M and 1d4 vs L

Heavy Crossbow Quarrel--1d4+1 vs S/M and 1d6+1 vs L

Battle Axe--1d8 vs S/M and 1d8 vs L

Dagger--1d4 vs S/M and 1d3 vs L

Quarterstaff--1d6 vs S/M and 1d6 vs L

thanks Darque for clairfying the weapon dammage i didn't think to post for the weapons. if anybody has questions about the weapons please ask and i'll try to help. Your charaacter sheets have most of the info on them if you still have them. Based on what i've seen so far i've come to the following conclusions.
Of the 5 spear orcs 1 is dead and 2 are injured. the orc that sprinkles has on the ground is dead. tha one the muffin is attacking is only slightly injured. the spear orcs are approx 20 to 25 yards away and would roughly take Rat 2 or 3 rounds to sneak to although the wispy smoke and general chaos would significantly help his sneaking. The big guy is another 10 to 15 feet behind the spears.

Let me know...

When you all would like me to use my spell. I wonder if it's too early to go for the Big Orc and if I could take him with a single casting.

Or should I jump down and attack with my staff the Orc that is injured and is being attacked by Muffin?

Your call

The spell of magic missile will nto kill the big orc by itself. I think your better off taking someone else out.

As for smacking the orc with your staff - if it looks like Muffin has him pinned go ahead, but be careful - you don't want to draw attention to yourself. Your call.

Rat thanks Nomad for the info.

If Rat slinks, it will be close to the cart - e.g. underneath, hidden by the wheel from the taller orc vision? He really wants to stick it to one!

Stay in the cart

T'Sal, you should be able to whack down on the orc from inside the cart. Since you are higher, you may even get a to hit bonus for having higher ground (if SD uses those rules).

Most orcs are 1 HD, so I wouldn't waste the spell. Save it for when big daddy in the armor comes down to play, it may just save us.

Are we ready?

Have we answered all of SD's questions? I'm honestly not sure if are ready for his next post or not. I think so.

Don't forget the scrolls

Guys - we shouldn't forget that we have the scrolls to call for help. This might be a good time.

SD - Exactly how many orcs can we see?
The spear throwers - you gave us the number - 4?
Two between Anvil and the wagon
1 Under Muffin
1 Big bad dude

Can we still hear stuff happening behind us?

I need to go back and find the description of how that stuff worked. Does anybody remember off-hand. Or on which page of this thread it is located?

nomad

your right on with the orcs still left and with all the commotion and your attention drawn to the pig men with pointy things poking at you your not able to tell what is happening to the front of the wagon train. all i really need now is exact actions everyones doing. Darque are you shooting more arrows or changing weapons. Hammer, reloading or dropping crossbow to get axe.that kind of thing for everyone stated in the game post if possible by group leader would be nice.

Penalties

SD do you give any penalties for point blank shooting?

If you don't I'm keeping with the bow and shooting at the orcs closest to the wagon, if you do, then I'm going to cast sleep on the party of 4 orcs that are about to charge, and then draw my longsword.

Ok, time to get organized.

It got a bit confusing with all the dialogue. I guess i need to post in the main thread for us - so this is what I THINK is happening. Clarify asap if I'm wrong. I'll wait a bit and then post.

Anvil - Attacks a nearby orc - one of thse between him and the wagons. He removes their head. Oh wait, I need to role for that...

Sprinkles - attacks the nearest orc

Muffin - finishes off the one pinned.

Hammer - switches to axe and attacks the nearest orc? Crap - I need to go back and look at Hammer's post.

T'Sal - Contiues to hide. Looks for a good target for a missile. Will swing back if directly attacked. (Might I suggest getting out the "rescue us" scroll in case we decide we need it? I still need to look that thing up again.)

Darque - Continues to shoot arrows if point blank carries no penalties. Otherwise sleep on those charging.

Rat - Stays semi hidden under the wagon and flings stones at the nearest targets. Well, the nearest orc targets.

How's that?

OK with that

mumbles the Rat, wondering how much experience and gold and booty we are all going to get from this risky endeavor.
