Various Rolls

Here are my rolls for when they are needed (I included all possible scenarios). Rolls are in the order they were rolled.

Personal Init: 1d6 = 4

If attacking with bow: 2d20 = 14, 12

Arrow Damage (if they hit): 2d8 = 6, 6

If I cast sleep (targeting one of the charging orcs, trying my best to get leader in area of effect, but most importantly the 4 charging): 2d4 = 3, 4

Sleep affects 2d4 HD of monsters and there is no savings throw. Monsters with 4+3 HD are unaffected by the spell. The spell affects the lowest HD monsters first and then moves up.

Confusion

I think the long delay since many of us have played is causing confusion. Since this is our first real fight, perhaps it would help if you (SD) specifically listed for each of us exactly what rolls you need - with what dice are needed. Hopefully if we do this once we will all get it right going forward and can avoid long delays as we all wait for others to post.

I think Anvil needs an init roll
1d6 = 3
He didn't need to roll damage because he auto killed. But if he had it would have been 1d8.

4 on a 6-sided

8 on an 8-sided

10 on a 10-sided

100 on an 100-sided

12 on a 12-sided

13 on a 20-sided

Hingatuli Hammer is using his Battle Axe!

Rat rolls in the dark

has no idea what to roll, but copying Darque, he has .....

Personal Init: 1d6 = 5

If attacking with sling: 2d20 = 10, 14 (presuming sling and bow work same?)

Arrow Damage (if they hit): 2d8 = 5, 2

agrees with all else, please tell us old folk which die to roll, and when .....

after all, now that I am retired, my wife is telling me which die to roll, what to wear, where to go, etc, etc, etc

What to Roll

Initiative: SD has noted that he wants 1d6

To Hit: All attack rolls are made with 1d20, more if you can attack multiple times. Multiple attacks will usually only apply to weapon specialized fighters and bow users. The formula for a hit is THAC0 (to hit armor class zero) - target's AC. So if your THAC0 is 20 and your opponents AC is 7 (20 - 7 = 13), you would need to roll 13 or more on a 1d20 to hit them. THAC0 decreases as you increase in level (different for each style), but at 1st level, everyone starts at 20. You may have other bonuses such as STR, racial adjustments, class bonuses, etc that may decrease this number.

Damage: It is weapon dependent. I posted the most commonly used weapons, but if you need to know something that isn't posted, let me know and I'll look it up for you. If you have exceptionally high STR, there is a damage bonus that applies to weapon damage too, so make sure you know if you have that bonus or not.

Saving Throws: These are made with a 1d20 also. You want to roll higher than your listed Savings Throw.

Thief Abilities: These are rolled on 1d100. If you have 35% in Pick Pockets, you will need to roll a 35 or lower on 1d100 to succeed.

Always remember, the DM can impose bonuses or penalties on rolls depending on the situation. If you get surprised, you may get a negative modifier on your Initiative roll. If the target is asleep, magically held, or otherwise prone, you may get a To Hit bonus.

The above are the "general" rules, but everything is at the DM's discretion in regards to bonuses and negatives based on situation.

If any of you need help, PM or email me, I'm always glad to help out.

hope this helps

sorry haven't had much time to devote hear lately still having massive supply shortages with all my fuels and such. It's really driving me crazy. anyway enough whining. what i'm trying to do is to get everyone to go ahead and make all the rolls that may become needed during an entire round of combat to help speed this up and so i can post the result in a story format. This keeps me from having to post each single action ie. having to post about who your trying to hit and then having to comeback and have poeople roll dam and the post about and so forth that's the main reason for this. It allows me to do all the little stuff at the same time and get a battle pictur in my head since none of us can actually get together and play(which would make this SO much easier and IMO more fun). So I'm asking for all the die rolls that might come up. Init is a 1d6 i use this to determine order of action not only for you but also for the woodsmen and the orcs. Darque explained very well and i really appreciate it. yes the to hit die is 1d20 and Dammage is dependent upon your weapon and is on all of your character sheets. I'm still fumbling around on this i know and i really appreciate everyones patience. i believe that this method will work and make things pretty fast when we all get on the same page. otherwise i feel like everybattle will take 6 months to play having to post with each action taken. any thought or suggestions would be welcomed. such as the best way to deal with saving throws in the middle of a round of battle?????? still trying to work that one out.

Multiple Roll ideas

Group initiative and only 1 Init roll at the start of battle would clear up a little confusion. This way everyone know exactly when they are going and could plan accordingly.

Anvil Rolls

Ok, so before each round we roll init (1d6), attack rolls (1d20) and damage in case it is needed.

For Anvil this is:

Init: 3 (prviously posted)
To Hit: 11
Damage: 8

Please note - none of these include the various bonuses for strength, specialization, etc... Should I include those or will you?

As for Initiative, group would be fine with me. Individual would also work once we all get in the swing of things. I think this first fight is just going to be messy for awhile as we all get used to things.

Saving Throws

I have NO Problem with ShadowDragon going ahead and making the Saving Throws rolls to facilitate the smooth movement of the game!

Thanks for Clarifying the Rolls

My Previous Rolls are as follows:

Init = 4 from the 1d6

To Hit = 13 from the 1d20

Damage = 8 from the 1d8 as the Battle Axe is 1d8

Sleepy Rat...

That was one of the funniest ways of saying "lets get going!" I have seen in a long time!

I'm sure SD will get us going as soon as things settle down a bit. Good luck with that.
