Ollie Gory, ThunnGarr and Bumble Brew etc T1CR1 actions

Ollie Gory is unleashing a Chain Lightning blast from his Staff of Evocation that will strike Wight#4 with Full Force and 1,2 and 3 with half the damage.

His action is to aid his friend ThunnGarr the Mighty.

It may even be able to strike one of the Wights at the East End, but I will have to double check when I configure.

ThunnGarr will then strike #4 with his Dwarven Thrower War Hammer because throwing the Hammer will inflict extra damage!

Bumble Brew will make her 15 foot move and unleash a Lightning Bolt against the 4 Wights that are facing the West End Clerics.

This action takes place a split second before the Clerics attempt to turn Undead, so they will suffer a margin of damage before fleeing!

Fuzzy Wolverine will attack Wight #1, so more damage is inflicted on that Wight, but it is in danger of a retaliation next round.

If the Gladiators gain the Inititative for Combat Round 2 then Ollie Gory, ThunnGarr and the Fuzzy Wolverine will repeat their actions.

Bumble Brew will be forced to take a different action as the West End Wights should be on the run from the Clerics!

From what I have read thus far, Ullrich will fire 3 Arrows at Wight #3 which is right in front of him 55 feet straight ahead.

My book is in a pile to be packed this morning, but the Magical Beast that Cunning Fox summons will probably attack Wight #4 and I am not sure if the type of attack it makes will transfer to other Wights?

Do not want to spoil the surprise of the Magical Beast summoned by Cunning Fox!

If Shandra also chooses to Summon a Magical Beast with her Staff of the Woodlands [which I would configure in an NPC fashion if there is no confirming post here before I write up the configurations in the Philippines!] then her Magical Beast would attack Wight #4 also!

Hopefully, by that time Wight #4 would be eliminate and if it were eliminated before her Magical Beast is unleashed, then it would attack #3.

That would leave Sir Yder, Amberlyn and Ariane who would naturally in character probably shoot Arrows at #2, #3 and [if not eliminated by now] #4 respectively.

Then they would realize that their Arrows are ineffective againsts the Wights, except for the Arrows of Ullrich that are enhanced by the magical properties of his Oath Bow!

If that is acceptable with everyone, then that is how I will write it up and configure the results.

I type the configurations in Word and then copy and paste to the Land of Xenophobia thread, editing when (usually) necessary

Okay with everyone?

Magical Beasts and Staff of the Woodlands

ShadowDragon and Dragon Mistress
Summoning Magical Beasts with your Staff of the Woodlands will expend 3 Charges and they will appear and fight for 6 Combat Rounds before disappearing.

Then you can Summon them back for another 6 Combat Rounds after they either disappear or if they were Killed, but that is probably impossible with the Magical Beast summoned by Cunning Fox and extremely unlikely with the one summoned by Shandra!

If enough distance

Sure I'll shoot an arrow.

Hmm, Wights huh? Don't know about them. It's not clearly evident that they are undead? What are they? (can't Ariane feel it or does that take a round?) *Fuzzy head*

solid or spirt

are these undead solid ie/ like a zombie or are they more ghostly in nature ie/ pass through walls? if they are solid us 2 with the staff of the woods can bring forth a wall of thorns to slow them down. what do y'all think about putting an arrow in any of the other people close to us that are close to death to keep them from becoming spawn?

Walls and arrows

I don't THINK they become spawn instantly and turn and attack - I could be wrong. We probably want Hammer's comment on this. I certainly don't want to be launching arrows at allies, but . . .

The wall of thorns idea is an interesting one. I believe that wights are solid - they attack with claw like nails after all. Again Hammer can confirm. This seems like an "if we have to move" to me. My big question is - if they are blocked by a wall of thorns - how do we get at them? I don't think I can shoot arrows through a wall of thorns, nor can a hammer be tossed through it. A lighting bolt?

Could two walls of thorns be placed into a V shape which would funnel them at us one at a time? We wouldn't have to deal with multiple wights at once. Plus, they might be lined up nicely for things like lighting bolts. How would the Ring of the Ram (Was that it?) work in a situation like that?

Wall of thorns

I know we are waiting on Hammer while he is in the midst of a move, but we do need to make sure we are ready with a plan of action when he is able to get things going again.

At this point I think we have two options:
1. The one outlined by Hammer.
2. Some usage of wall of thorns.

Does anyone have something to comment about either? I'd say we should each pick one of the above. Or offer advice on the above.

I'm not sure if we want to use the wall of thorns on the first group - when chain lighting and such will be ineffect. Maybe. Certainly for later groups it might be useful. Thoughts?

A V with two woodlands creatures at the point - Hammer and Ullrich throwing/shooting into the gap. Lighting bolts as well. The others watching the edges.

After reading the two new updates ...

..... in Land of Xenophobia you should be able to figure out what is obviously working and what is not working!

At the end of the second post I have also noted each character highlighted in "Blue" and what your obvious options are given what has transpired during the first and second Combat Rounds!

Just have to write up what the South Enders do for their part of the Second Combat Round before proceeding to Combat Round Three!

I will Not Roll Initiative until After the South Enders have attacked the Wights for their turn in Combat Round Two!

By the way, I was just able to get an internet configuration for my laptop within the last hour!

Enjoy the Surprise!

Ullrich decides he dislikes undead

Ullrich's task is an easy one - keep shooting! He will first target those that are attacking actively - aiming first for those who are a threat to attack someone in the group. He will generally leave those who are cowering or fleeing as they are not an immediate danger and those with swords can swiftly deal with them.

Hammer - is the dome still putting out its healing spell?

Also, group, we may want to see if there is a good time to use the wall of thorns idea, but i wouldn't want to lose the chance to safely attack fleeing wights.

actions

CF will use the ring of the ram next turn. depending on what happens he will do the following.
1. if either of his magical creatures are destroyed he will resummon.
2. if anyone close enough to him is in trouble he will discharge the ring again
3. if wight gets close he will smash with staff
4. if the #'s get overwhelming that are approaching he will produce a wall of thorns to slow down as many as he can
5. if none of above are needed he will dicharge ring at nearest wight.

??????

OK thrown for a loop. We kept seeing posts from Hammer with not seeming input from players. All of a sudden we just read a note about posting actions in the O&A. Up till that time we just thought Hammer was running the whole game.

Can someoine please tell us what is happening? What are we supposed to be doing?

Leaving Wednesday morning ...

..... so it looks like I will not get another update written by Tuesday!

Okay Gang:

The idea is to look at the Third Wave Map to get an idea of the locations of everyone including the opponents and then try to keep track by what has been posted.

Monks are All Dead and Fighters are All Spawn!

When you post what you intend to do in the Q&A it gives me a guideline for the writeup, but if no one posts in a week or 10 days I go ahead and write up the results!

Currently, if I do not hear from someone I will have your PC stand their ground defensively until in range to attack.

NOMAD the reviving aura of the Dark Arena Dome does NOT Affect the Wights!

Also, the Wights are so deadly that they have Killed or made Spawn of the Monks and Human Fighters!

Do not know when I will get online, so it may be a few days before I post again after arriving in the States!

That means sometime in February!

Wights are the most dangerous opponent yet as far as outright dying!

Bear with me through all this Hack and Slash because there will be plenty of room for role play once you get out of the Dark Arena!

There will be so many Kobalds to fight that I may have to update the Map once or twice before they are eliminated, but that is the only scenario that will warrant more than one Map!

By the way ...

..... it is magically enhanced weapons that deal damage to the Wights!

Thus the South Enders were all supplied at least One Magical Type Weapon for this scenario!

Therefore, I utilize those weapons when furthering the story after hearing or not hearing from players in the Q&A section!

Am doing all that is possible to keep your Players from Dying in the Dark Arena!
