alright

Sorry for not updating last weekend. I was rather busy. But, an update is in, and it appears you can start preparing for a subterranean descent.

Good luck!

Coverings and Characters

Almerin,

Saw your update! Thanks!

Couple questions:

1) Is there any covering between where our characters are and the two man-lizards? Is there any covering that we might use to sneak around the outer edge of the room and avoid the man-lizards? How far away are these two man-lizards?

2) Which PCs are actually along for this "ride" now? Just Isi,Tami, and Cole? Or are you NPCing some of the others?

Thanks!
Ayrn.

stuff

Covering: there is a room with baskets, which doesn't provide a lot of cover, but you could try to sneak around the walls of that room to where the lizardmen are standing. At least from there you could look further into the cave. The two lizardmen aren't standing in the direct opening to the rest of the complex, but they are standing close to it, conversing casually.

NPCs: I was going to NPC Aldagen the ranger, since I think four characters should be able to stand the tests here. But he will only be an extra hand in combat. Don't ask him any questions, since I won't be able to answer. He's not a hints&cheats guide to this encounter.

left-left-a+start-right-up... oh... darn it

Man! Here I thought we might be able to use the ranger to give us GODMODE. So much for that idea!

Hey! Why don't we send him in first as a distraction? That could be fun...

No?

Hmmm...

Alright. Well... DM? Brianna? Got any ideas on how we should approach this encounter? We've got a cleric, a bard/fighter, and a scout/ swashbuckler. I have a funny feeling your character aren't going to make their hide and move silently checks.

What spells do you got handy, Brianna? I was thinking a nice spiritual hammer in the middle of them might be cool. Or some kind of obscuring mist? Or Darkness? Or a cool explosive fire spell?

What do you two think?

ok then

Here is the only Godmode you'll get from me: You might want to check around a bit first, before you start attacking these two.

I'm just giving you guys a fair deal here; making sure you'll be able to get out of this adventure to see the whole picture.

Going to do

Search about and look for ways around the two. We need to use eyes and ears before feet.

Will post IC about what she will do.

map

Ok, to assist you guys in picturing this lair, here is a map. Have fun with it. The X marks the location of the two lizardmen, you can't really see beyond that yet.

Questions

Is there any sign of the tunnel continueing on, did we see any side tunnels while traversing the long entrance tunnels?

no

If there were any side tunnels, I would either have told you, or drawn them on the map. It IS an understandable map, right?

So... just checking...

Couple questions:

1) Driscoll is now hiding out behind the 4th basket along the right side of the cave, steps away from entering into the cave with the rug?

2) The cave/room with the rug is brightly lit, yes?

3) Where the heck did my ranks in Hide and Move Silently go?!?!?! Just kidding! When I posted my action I did think I had a few ranks in both of those skills, but having looked over his sheet again, I remember not putting any down. I figured a +5 dex bonus was more than plenty.

4) About how far away are the manlizards from Driscoll? and from the other three?

Thanks!

Ayrn

answers

1: Driscoll is hiding behind the 3rd basket, I think. The first being filled with fruits, the second filled with salted fish. The third one you haven't opened yet.

2: The room with the rug is lit pretty brightly, yes.

3: It should've been, but your move silently check was pretty low, and their listen check high.

4: They're about 15 feet away from Driscoll and the opening to the tunnel.

A few more questions, plus looking for suggestions...

1) Can Driscoll see if the manlizards are armed with any weapons or armor?

2) Can Driscoll hear any sounds coming from the room with the rug?

3) Can Driscoll smell anything coming from the basket he's hiding behind that might reveal its contents?

4) Can you remind us how many manlizards we saw out on the beach/dunes some nights ago?

Thanks Almerin!

===============================

Also, for Brianna and Dragon Mistress:

Depending on Almerin's response, I was thinking maybe your characters could cause a distraction that would allow Driscoll to move into the other room with the rug.

I'm not sure how to get out of this mess now that I'm in the room. I doubt I'll be able to sneak back to where your located, nor do I think I'll be able to get into the room on my own.

Alternatively, we could attack, again with you starting the combat, and me coming in from behind. But, I'm don't think that's the best option yet.

Anyway... what's your thoughts?

more answers

1) They carry no weapons or armor

2) Driscoll can hear some walking and more talking in the strange tongue of the lizardfolk.

3) There is no smell coming directly from the basket, but there are all sorts of smells all around in this room.

4) There were 6 manlizards on the beach.

I hope this is helpful. Any more questions: Feel free to ask.
