new question

What Christmas traditions do you keep at your house or if you have started your own, what are they?

My hubby & I don't like to travel for Christmas so we stay home with our 3 cats and enjoy our time off together.
We put our trees up the weekend after Thanksgiving and leave them up until the weekend after New Year.

I send out Christmas cards the first week of Christmas and hope everyone else sends theirs early too cuz I like to hang them up on my basement door in the kitchen.

I bake cookies...usually the weekend my hubby has his Dec. reserve duty. I put on some Christams music, turn on the tree lights and bake away!!

We have an all white tree with white lights in our dining room. No ornaments...it's for our cats to climb and play in and then we have one in our living room with colored lights for "us humans"

We watch all of our favorite Holiday movies, Scrooged, The Muppets Christmas Carol, The Grinch, Charlie Brown Christmas, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, It's a Wonderful Life, and lots more.

We go to see Christmas light displays around the area then come home and have some of my homemade Run Cake and Eggnog.

My hubby always makes Sangria with apples, pears and citrus fruit!! (a recipe he got in Spain) We open one present on Christams Eve and save the rest for Christmas morning.

That's what we do...what do YOU do??

hmmm

We're still trying to establish traditions of our own because I really miss my family in America around the holidays.

Not usually. It's a pretty much rain for every season climate. Lately we've been having beautiful warm weather though.

Solstice

I don't really have many traditions for the holidays... Usually I'm stuck shoveling snow up to my waist and cutting up trees that have fallen across the driveway and wrestling with numbed fingers and snow chains... yay! Other than that I suppose our method of measuring the depth of snow is tradition.... we take our small dog and drop her in soft powder snow and see how far she sinks... Don't worry! We pull her out right away and set her in front of a cozy fire, she's spoiled to pieces... The iceical fights are always a joy though... Engard!

Ol' Buffalo, eh?

Not quite! But I do have 4 generators, and hot cocoa is my favorite! That and hot mulled cider.. yum yum good... We went without electricity in our house for I guess it was 3 years... I used to run outside and scoop some snow up to heat it over the stove and dump waayyy too much chocolate in it.. *Smiles* Brings back good memories..

LOL

see Av...now THAT's the kind of tradition you should start.

Or how about combining a holiday or two...
You could dress up like the Easter Bunny, and hand out left over Halloween candy to the Carolers.
