The proprietor quickly goes to work gathering your ask for supplies while talking at the same time. "Medicinals you will have to get from Ol' Meg and honey too. Dried fruit and meat you can get from Mistress Leah, she lives three places to the north. She might even have some sourdough starter, most of us use ale barm to leaven our bread, but that would be difficult for you to carry."

“Now how many of you are there and where are you headed? It will make a difference in how much of each you need.”

When Brianna gives the number and the destination she nods and seems to be doing some figuring on her fingers while muttering to herself while she moves about the shop gathering the needed supplies.

Soon there is a pile of goods on the counter. 20 lbs each of flour and rice, 5 pounds of salt, a pound of pepper, 20 lbs each of potatoes, carrots and parsnips and the other things that Brianna ordered that they did have. I added a cone of sugar as it helps in raising the bread and feeding the starter.”

“Now all we have to do is load this in your wagon. Bert, come out here and help the lady load her wagon, se calls to a open door behind the counter. ”

Food for the Road

Once Xour called out to Brianna that was coming along she waited for him to catch up and together they made their way to a dried goods store. Once greeted by the Mistress of the store Brianna lays out a list of items she would like to purchase for their journey, it is quite an extensive list.
dried meat, dried fruit, root vegetables, wheat flour, sugar, salt, pepper. leavening for bread, or a bread starter. honey and/or perhaps some fruit preserves. Some oats or barley for porridge, too. Also I need some first aid supplies. bandages, salves, lint, antitoxins if you have any of the magical kind."

Xour listens to the exchange between the two women as the propriater asks about our journey and how many so she can calculate the amount of each item we may need. Although the request to know how large our party was and our destination seemed to be an honest one to help in deciding how much stuff they would need Xour is always somewhat suspicious and always hates giving out information of that nature.

He watches as the pile on the counter continues to grow, and when Brianna asks himXuor, "Can you think of anything I did not mention?" He returns with a Um no I can't really think of a thing you might have missed. Though it seems we must look elsewhere for some of the items we seek. Then the lady calls out for someone else who works in the shop to come out and help load what we bought into our cart, which of course we don't have. Xour steps up Actually we don't have a cart out front we will be taking the goods over to where our horses are stabled, looking at the pile on the counter then turning to Brianna Think we can handle this?

Lenwe Utinuenmirima Calaudra

Lenwe, his face suddenly drained of all colour, looks Lorae straight in the eye. The intensity of his stair unnerving, not know what this stranger will do in such a situation makes it even more so. He sees no reason to lie in her eyes and no lie in them, it's true, the blood pounds in his head as he makes his decision in a split second. Standing up abruptly, knocking the table and his goblet over in the process, he half runs to the door. There is no way he can travel by means of magic, but he has no horse, yet.

As soon as he is out of the inn he summons his companion, such a spell needs them both for it's completion, not long after a chestnut stallion charges out the woods, it seems a good horse, a charger, just what he needs. Mounting in quickly with the stirrups and saddle that were on it's back already he urges it out of town, full tilt towards the junction, towards Tilverton. He knows he can not get their this day, and probably not the next but he must go there.

His companion flying overhead, to the side, outstripping the horse and back again, seemly enjoying the fast flight but the bond that attaches the bird and the elf is strong now and neither of them can ignore the panic, the disbelief, the hope and the crushing despair.

Brianna

Brianna said to the woman request for information . It is for about 1 1/2 months for 8 people. While they were fewer she knew she was a big eater and Logan was too so it was close enough. She got lots of dried sausages and meats, root vegetable some which she was unfamiliar with. One was a deep reddish purple globular roots called a beet. Another was like the whitish parsnip but was bright orange and called a carrot. Dried fruit and some dried herbs and spices to cook with along with the staple as flour, salt pepper, bread starter, grains for porridge, etc.

Brianna looks at the pile and reaches into her haversack for a sack, packed conveniently on the top. (magically on the top as it is a Heward's Handy haversack. IT had been her mother;s and her father gave it to her when she met him for the first and what looks like now the last time. All her family were elsewhere. For a moment a look of sadness appeared on her face. Another loss that still had the power to cause her great sadness. But6 it passed quickly enough because Brianna was a creature of the present right now and though the losses hurt present matters had to be tended to first.

"We can pack it in here and if that is not enough perhaps I can pay for a person to deliver the rest to the inn for us."

"Certainly, Lady. My son can pack it over to theinn for you. The innkeeper will hold it until you return he is a good man."

Brianna pays five extra silver to have it all delivered. I will just take the list with me not she says as she holds out her hand for the list. Though she felt she could trust this woman still she wanted to be able to check the list with what was delivered,

Brianna does not want to reveal that she has a bag of holding and stasis. Bags of holding were know but holding and stasis were not at all common. She carefully packs the bag until it is full and lifts it seemingly with any problems. Xuor,I will pay for this all Perhaps you can ask and find out where we can find the other things we need. I need arrows, and to sell off a few of those extra weapons we found.

Brianna picks through the coins she has collects since coming here enough to pay for their supplies.

Loss is a natural part of living...

Vatta didn’t answer the man when he spoke of his family in Tilverton; she had heard that the town was gone but didn’t know how to break it to the man. When he spoke of thieves and murderers, she only nodded slightly as she thought; those we can handle.

She was spared the telling of Tilverton by Lorae who told him of the town’s fate. Only Vatta’s quick reflexes saved her drink as the table was knocked over by the man sudden rise. As her empty plate slide to the floor, she slipped backwards to her feet to see what he would do, and sipped her wine as she watched the stranger run out the door.

“Guess he was telling the truth about the son,” she says flatly as she turns without remorse and walks to the bar for a wine refill.

Lorae

Lorae gives Vatta a quick glance. "I will go after him. It is not safe to go alone. I will try to bring him back."

Lorae races outside, where Moon Dancer stands saddled and ready in a way that marked him as a paladin's mount. No matter how fast the Druids horse might be Lorae's stallion was soon in Julius's dusty wake.

The great strides of the half-celestial Moon Steed closed the distance between them before Julius even got to the crossroads. She doubted that Julius would hear them coming, sos light was the footfall of a Moonsteed. She finally pulls along side of the Drouid and reaches out a hand to his arm, and Moon Dancers starts to slow.

First Transaction complete

Brianna finishes paying for their supplies with the groups funds.

"Now lets so see if there is a market her for some of those weapons we ah picked up after the fight," Brianna gives Xuor a broad wink.

Waling with Xuor out of the store Brianna comment, "If we can't get a good price for the more mundane weapons we can just hold them until we get to a larger town. There is always a need for the decent weapons, and perhaps we can find buyers for some of the magical ones as well. I've got all I can carry and use."

What other things do you need, arrows, is what I need now but I am won't buy inferior ones just to fill my quiver.

"I was thinking of getting barding for Shadowbane as well, though I doubt there is any in this place, its just too small.

Food be done now the real shopping begins

With the first part of their shopping spree done and out of the way, and a large amount of good cooking supplies bought and being delivered the two turn their attention to what Xour considers the more fun part of shopping the buying and sell of good weapons.

When Brianna speaks of selling some of what they had gotten from one of the battles yes we might be able to sell some of the mundane weapons here, but i do doubt we can get a fair price for any of the magical ones in a small place like this, unless we run into the right buyer, but you never know.
He watches the different shops go by as they make their way across the street and towards the next destination, everything in this town was fairly close together and the distance they traveled was slight. When asked what it was he need he responds Well now there are a few things I would like to pick up. arrows as you said I also need but I am also quite Proficient in the making of some very good arrows, so as I find the time in our travel I shall make some for you as well as for myself.
Back to what to buy however I am looking for a couple of good daggers one nice sturdy one for animal cleaning and such, as well as some smaller specilized ones say for throwing. I would also like to look about for a possable source for some good sling bullets somewhere to get nice spherical metal bullets.

So with that the shopping goes on.

Brianna

Perhaps we should ask a local about where we can purchase such items. you dagger and sling bullets we should be about to find at a smithy (blacksmith's). That should be easy enough to find look for dark smoke..

Brianna moves towars the first male townfolk she sees, figureing they would know where a wapons shop and smithy were. located, she asks

"Can you tell me where I can find a blacksmith, or a shop that deals with weapons."

Townsman

The man stops seeing you are strangers. "Well Kaleb the Smith has his shop over by that big oak, you can see the top of," and he points.

"The bowyer and fletcher share a shop over there," and he points to a small building about 100 feet away.

"If they don't have it or know where you can get it, its not available here."

He nods and walks on.

A prominent sign showing a bow and quiver of arrows lets you know you have come to the right place. A woman inside listens to what you need, and offers the needed arrows at a slightly higher price than normal, but then inspection of the arrows shows them to be of high quality, worthy of the price.

There are also a number of fine bows on racks.

Change of mind...

Vatta turned to watch as Lorae hurried out of the tavern; she gestures haltingly to the bartender, “Hold on to that wine, I will be back later for it.”

She stepped out of the tavern and saw Lorae riding fast out of the town; she knew Lorae didn’t need her help with bringing back the man, if he could be brought back. She glanced around the town and as the sun was getting down she saw many of the lamps being lit about town.

Looking up and down the street she saw Brianna and Xuor enter a shop; the sign outside showed a bow and arrows and she raised and eyebrow. She had planned to wait till the morrow to by her arrows but seeing as the shop was obviously still open she shrugged and stepped off the porch and walked towards the shop.

Walking into the shop she saw Xuor and Brianna purchasing some items, she nodded her head to them and smiled slightly as she walked over to a rack where arrows were displayed. Seeing the quality she was pleased and when the woman is done with her sale to her companions, Vatta tells her that she needs three dozen of the broadhead shafts and though the price is higher than normal she feels it is worth it since they are fine strong shafts.

Paying for her purchase she turns to Brianna and Xuor and follows them outside when they are finished. Once outside she tells them of Lorae heading off after the stranger and the man’s plight concerning Tilverton and his son.

Brianna

As Brianna negotiated for the arrows she liked best she heard someone enter the shop behind her. Out of a necessary habit she turned to look and saw that Vatta had entered.

Brianna gave the quiet woman a welcoming smile. Vatta had earned her respect. Vatta knew her strengths and fought taking the best advantage of them. Brianna did not look down on another for not fighting the way she preferred, which took in her strengths and weaknesses as well.

"Vatta you might like to look at this woman's best arrows. I am going to pick up about 30 to fill my quiver even though I tend go toe to toe with my swords. Sometimes having a bow ready to use is a great asset. Your skills have certainly been appreciated."

Brianna moves over a bit at the counter to give Vatta room to move in and see what is offered. She then picks up the thirty she had selected and paid for them.

"When we are done here why don't we go back and have a good meal something hot and already prepared." Brianna adds with a quick laugh. Something none of us had to kill for our dinner and cook ourselves. "Bet you have noticed I always volunteer to help with the hunting and not the cooking. Never had much time to learn much other than cooking over a campfire on a stick or in a pot."

"What are these feather from." Brianna asks as she finger the fletching carefully.
_____________

Trey are Grey Goose feathers all from adult birds. I raise them for meat, eggs and for their feathers. My husband makes his best arrows from just the flight feathers.

I use the down to make warm winter clothes and blankets that keep you warm in the coldest weather. You wouldn't be needing any cold weather clothes now would you?" The woman asked hoping that they might.
_________________

Brianna looks up intrigued by what the woman had said clothes from feathers?"
_________________

"The shopkeeper's wife smile up at Brianna's question. Well not exactly just feathers. I quilt fine cotton cloth in two layers and then stuff in between with the down feathers. Just a moment, I can show you what they are like."

The woman slips into the back room and returns with a sleevless garment that looked all puffy. "Here this is what it is like. She holds the garment out and lets Brianna take it to examine it.
____________________

This keeps you warm?" asks Brianna noting its lightness. "It seems too light to keep you warm, more like something you would wear in the summer except it is all puffy."
____________________

"It is light," the Woman says "It will keep you warmer than you can possible imagine and you can wear it under you cloak. It is better if you do when it it raining or snowing as if it gets wet it doesn't really keep you very warm. I make vest short and long, coats and pants of it."

"If you would like I can bring some samples over to the inn right after we close up shop here."

"I even have cloak liners that double the warmth of a cloak or more. Now this is the best part. The woman takes the vest and squeezes it down to a very small bundle that she could hold in one hand. "You can pack it into the smallest places and its weight so little that it won't weight you down then you just take if out and shake it a few times and it puffs back up."

"Why don't you do that" replies Brianna "I would certainly think that some of my friends may be interested, I am.".

Vatta pays for her selection of arrows and it seems they are done for now Brianna turns t leave the shop

"Don't hurry to much we are going over to the blacksmith's first before heading back to the inn." and with that she walks out heading over to he large oak tree the shop where column of smoke still rises in the early evening sky.

The locals are making the most of the swindling hours of the day as they shorten, leading into winter time.

Arrows in Hand and some bullets to find.

Following along with Brianna he listens to her question and answer with the townsman looking to the areas the man points out, it seems everything is in a pretty close area here.So they make their way to the shop with the sign showing the bow and arrows and upon entering are greeted by a cheerful woman who it seems is the wife of the shops owner and who it seems does a lot of the work in the shop.

There is a nice selection of very sturdy made arrows in this shop so he takes some time by first looking over the arrows he is now carrying in his quivers. They appear to be adaquate so he will buy one score of these arrows which will fill both of his quivers to full giving him a total of 40 arrows now.He will pay the lady for his purchase.

When Vatta enters he acknowledges her with a slight bow and a smile reinforcing what Brianna had said about the arrows.

When the lady starts describing the vest that she makes Xour is a little familiar with the type of garments she is talking about having seen their type at some shops he had been in back in his past.He does know they can keep one nice and warm if you take good care of them, but like the woman said you don't want to get them wet if at all possible.

Anyways now done here they will exit the shop and look over to where the townsman said they would find the smitty. There you could see a column of smoke rising into the evening air.
Still interested in looking for a couple of different types of daggers as well as looking to see if he could find some very nice spherical heavy metal bullets for his sling.

Lenwe Utinuenmirima Calaudra

As Lorae rides after him he spurs his steed onwards but it's no use, she is catching up quick and soon they are equal and slowing. He wishes he could have continued to Tilverton and onwards south from there but it wasn't to be. "Yes." he said almost hotly "I must see it for myself, I have to see Tilverton."

How could he expect this intruder to understand, he wouldn't mind if his children die natural deaths so they were committed to the earth, but his son had been snatched away from him by magic. His body and soul was lost to the physical world. He resented himself, why had he gone to Peldans Helm instead of staying closer. Why had he studied that which had taken his son away from him.

Shopping.

Vatta raises and eyebrow and wonders at Brianna’s lack of reaction to her telling of what had transpired at the Inn and the departure of Lorae. She shrugs and follows Xuor and Brianna as they head over to the Blacksmiths. She didn’t have anything else to do right now and so she tagged along to see what they might find.
