Ready to Move on--Whereever

"Home?" Brianna queries the little dragonette. Her golden eyes meeting his. "Are we back in Peradyse, Flame?"

"No, thissss issss my home. Mine all mine and Precious's."

Brianna wonders aloud, "Your home is not Peradyse?"

"No" can Flame's one syllable answer.

Brianna life had been a constant series of ups and downs these last four years. Tossed hither and thither by others and even her own Goddess. She had learned not to rail against her fate.

"Well then if it is your, do you know where we are? Are there other people on your world? Can you lead us there?

"We are at resting place," piped Flame, "People not close to here."

He wraps his tail about her neck.

"Closest people that way, he points in a direction, "closer to big river, long ride, faster fly."

Soronuume

Soronuume rode on through the tunnel of light with Xu at her back. The mists swirled around her obscuring even her keen vision, but she rode on. Following the silhouettes of her newfound companions the elven druid made her way through the fog to emerge atop a sunlit hill. Blinking her eyes as the adjusted to the new bright lights she took in all that was around her. That they were far from where they had been was certain, but she remained wholly unaware of where it was they stood now. Instinctively she sought out the rhythms of this new land trying to make sense of what untouched wild place they had ridden into.

Letting Thunderclap move forward a few paces she focused her attentions on the land before her. Soronuume let her gaze move over the valley and the trees. That it was wild and unknown to her was apparent, but this was no alien landscape. The trees were trees, the sky was sky, and the earth was earth. In time she would learn more of this place, but for now the knowledge that the laws of nature still applied would have to be sufficient.

Soronuume listened quietly as her companions discusses this new place and finally breathing deeply she turned to face them.

"I agree that making camping is needed, but let us stay near to this hill. As Flame said people are far from here. I say we make camp and let those of us who can try and divine the nature of where we are and what just happened. My power comes from the land, Alexandria and Devon both draw theirs from other sources - between the three of us we should be able to answer at least some of our questions."

Devon is at a loss

"I've got nothing."

Devon looks down at his feet feeling useless. That's why he stayed so close to cities. He was mostly useless in the wild. He fashioned his spells for entertainment and survival in urban communities. In fact, at the University in Sebria, he would have trained to be a war-mage but though he could handle the physical and magical side of the training, he could not put up with the constant studying of tomes and books. Literate though he was, books were never his thing.

"I can detect magic and that's it. Most of my magic is geared to keep me alive in a pinch. I've felt it a couple of times before, I'll feel more power enter me from The Source, at that time I get restless and spend hours and sometimes days shaping a new spell until I get to be an expert at casting it. Maybe, next spell I shape will be useful to all of us."

Devon then turns to Brianna and says, "Well if we are going to make camp, I'm going to make myself useful and get some tender to make a fire."

With that he hands her the reins to her mare, "By the way, Your mare is an excellent ride."

Devon smiles and gives a wink and walks off towards a grouping of trees to look for fallen timber and twigs.

Brianna

Brianna stands up and goes over to Shadowbane and gathers up his halter lead line she had tied on to his saddle. She mounts and rides up to where Devon is.

"Hop up Devon. I will go with you since I planned to gather wood too. I think is wise for us to travel at least in pairs in this unknown place. Perhaps, I can find some game to hunt. I have trail rations but those get a little tiresome."

Brianna bends down and extends her hand down to him. pulling him up to a seat behind her.

"Thanks, I could use the company, safty in numbers and all that", he says as he takes her hand and hops up. He holds on around her waist as she gets Shadowbane moving.

Lorae

"Soronuume, we can stay near the hill, but it would not be a good idea to camp on top of it, a fire up here will be like a beacon. There may be no people near here, but there may be things we do not want to draw the attention of."

"There in that small group of trees partway to the river, It would give us shelter and there is grass all about it so that we can see all about us, but others will have trouble seeing us."

Soronuume

The green elf listened to Devon speak of his magic. She cocked her head to the side and replied in a soothing voice, "Worry not Devon, we each have our own paths and each our own skills. That is why we work together."

With his attentions already diverted Devon made his way off with Brianna in search of game and kindling. Soronuume watched the pair depart and sighed. Humans so often confused her and she had generally kept her distance from them. Decades of war with humans had taught her to be wary of them and now she found herself riding with two. From what she knew of them they both were honorable, and she was finding herself growing fond of them. There was something so curious about their frenetic lives. Soronuume sighed again before turning her attention back to the rest of the party.

Lorae returned her gaze and after a moment the golden haired elf spoke, "Soronuume, we can stay near the hill but it would not be a good idea to camp on top of it, a fire up here will be like a beacon. There may be no people near here, but there may be things we do not want to draw the attention of. There in that small group of trees, partway to the river. It would give us shelter and there is grass all about it so that we can see all about us but others will have trouble seeing us."

Soronuume listened as Lorae spoke and nodded in agreement. Until they knew more of this place it would be wise to remain in anonymity. She turned her gaze to the group of trees that Lorae spoke of and nodded again.

"You are right Lorae, we do not want to draw attention to ourselves. The spot you have pointed out will do well, and the sooner we make camp the better. Once we have settled I will try to commune with this land to learn what I can. I think it would be best for us to gather as much information as possible before venturing beyond this area."

The green elf rides forward and then stops to turn and face Alexandria. Her amber eyes met the drow cleric's red eyes and she began in a soft tone, "What power I have is drawn wholly of the land. I can meld with the land and learn much of where we are, but the portal that brought us here was not born of nature. I cannot call the power to tell us what it was or why we are here. Might your goddess grant you some divination to aid in that end?"

Lorae and Game Post

Brianna and Devon find enough deadfall branches from winter storms, and the three remaining females are left with setting up a camp. After riding to the copse of trees Lorae dismounts and removes Moon Dancer’s tack and releases him to graze freely

Lorae carefully cuts through the sod and lays it back before digging into the earth to create a pit.

At a distance a herd of deer can be seen grazing while the lead stag watched over them from a rise.

Soronuume

As they finish setting up camp Soronuume surveyed the surrounding landscape. At the sight of the heard of deer she smiles and turns to the other women.

"From what I can tell it seems we are in a land that follows the laws of nature much the same as Toril. That being said I intend to commune with the land to glean what I can."

She waited a moment before sitting cross legged on the ground. Laying her palms on the earth Soronuume began to intone softly. Slowly her awareness shifted, melding into the land. The druidic elf let herself attune with the land wholly and completely.

(OOC: Casts Commune with Nature, seeking to gain general knowledge about the land and the location of people/settlements)

Brianna

Brianna helps Devon gather in a good supply of firewood. stacking it up on a hunl of tarp. She looked around and saw the hherd of deer from the slight rise of the side of the valley here she found most of the deadfall.

"Look there is a herd of deer over across the valley, I will take you and the woodback to camp now. If you are any good with a bow I will take you hunting with me if not I will take Lorae. Then I am going to try to circle around them and find a young buck. That should provide us with plenty of fresh meat for awhile.

The moon?

Alexandria observed everyone hard at work. It was quite different in this society than her old one. Here the women were actually labouring. That seemed quite odd. But, she would accept it, for she was now part of this world, not her old one.

Alexandria scans the sky looking for the moon, if this new plane had one. There must be some kind of moon... Eilistraee is present in all worlds, and her home is the moon, so it had to have influence here. Alexandria strains her eyes searching for a hint of a moon.

While she is scanning for the moon, Alexandria decides that everyone has worked hard, and doesn't need to have to scavenge for their own food, or eat stale trail rations. Calling upon her divine power, Alexandria pulls from non-existence a bountiful feast - not just for the humanoids, but also for the dragonettes and the horses. "Dinner is on me tonight. Eat from Eilistraee's goodness."

The meal consisted of a stew containing venison, lamb, beef, pork, carrots, celery, potatoes, and lentil leaves. There were several loaves of bread of various varieties, and fine wines. For the dragonettes, a helping of meat was brought forth. And for the horses, there were several raw vegetables, and grain.

((OoC: I'm casting "Create Food and Water", but I was wondering if I could spend a couple extra mp to make it actually taste good, and have wine instead of water. Your call though, DM))

Game Post:

Soronuume feels herself fanning out over and under the land. It take time as the circle wides more slowly. There is the usual sense of plant and animal life starting with the little light of life in the smallest and simplest plants and creatures all and then to the highest forms of plant and animal life, all seemingly in balance. The quick growing grasses who are the most hurried of plants and the slow steady pulse of the trees speak of the diversity of animals that tread over and under them. Insects abound, rabbits in the burrows, moles tunneling under the grass, earthworms wiggling about the rich top soil. After a time she sensed the deer, and fox worrying a rabbit in its burrow, birds disturbed by movement and all manner of grassland and woodland life going about doing what is does everyday; eat, sleep, mate, and hunt. All through her commune Soronuume has felt a building sense of peace.

Alexandria, finds, by putting more power into her Create Food and Water spell, that something more appetizing was created. (somewhere between create a Heroes Feast and Create Food and Water.) She is more the pleasantly surprised at the outcome of her spell.

Brianna returns with Devon and finds that Alexandria has provided a substantial meal and with a couple of loaves of bread, hot from a Bag of Holding and Stasis, that their evening meal was more than enough for all of them.

Soronuume

The druid lifted her palms from the earth and nodded in satisfaction. Wherever they were was a harmonious place of the wild. She looked to her companions and smiled.

"I can sense no settlements nearby, only the natural harmony of the untouched wild. I know not where we are, nor what to do next, but for now let us rest and enjoy the peace of the wild."

Soronuume's eyes fell on the feast before them and she smiled. She was unsure which of her companions had procured it but she was certainly thankful. Helping herself to the fresh raw vegetables the elf smiled.

"I know not which of you brought this feast, but I offer you my thanks."

Game Post: Hunting

Brianna was born in the grassland of her country. She had learned as all Amazons must, the way of forest and fiels, hunting and scouting and skills with wepapons as well and her mother incessant quest to have magic teachers train her in that as well. THE former she did very well the latter she could not do at all.

Using all her skills she moved downwind through the waist high grasses. After a bit of maneuvering, she located a long yearling buck, soon to be adult and driven out of the herd. Even now he clung to the fringes of the herd sircle away whent the lead bull made his rounds.

Brianna had to wait to the deer to move to make the optimum heart shot. When the time was right she loosed her arrow and quickly followed up with another. The first shot buried itself fletching deep as it struck home in the young buck's heart, He leaped into the air and was dead before he hit the ground. The second arrow hit a bit lower, but was unnecessary.
