Just a small post

Since I don't have much else to add... at least not until Janelle's actually talked to... or until noon...

I hope Alex's grandfather clock doesn't have a loud chime...

Evil Villian

Well I appologize for the length, I started writting and just didn't stop, lol. I haven't reread it so I hope it is coherent.

Hope you enjoy. Nimu I think the two of us will have to do some PM's to discuss the relationship of our Villians...

M.

P.S. Oh I will have a Smoky post up as soon as I can...

Wha?

Villainizing without me? How can this be?

Well, then again... I don't know if she would be a team-player of villainy... since she tends to work solo... Hmm...

Ah, but I should read first, before I say anything else...

Read it over, looks very intriguing

Maybe I should introduce the other character that came to my mind at some point... although I suppose I should write out a character sheet for her just so I have a visual of what she can do and such...

Things just got more interesting... as if it wasn't interesting enough already

That...

...was INCREDIBLE!!!

And dare I imagine that I even caught a Boondock Saints reference in there?!?! I could completely die happy, right now!

Seriously, Meri... no need to apologize for that (long and boring as it was *winkwinknudgenudge*) at all! If I could double your applause right now, by the jeebus, I'd do it!

Okay... now, I've gotta go and try to come up with something comparable... ... Of course, I may need to wait for Nimu, eh?

Thanks love

Glad you enjoyed... and yes I Boondocked it up there. I have a feeling Katul is a movie buff and we'll be seeing lots of movie quotes from him.

Especially movies with mobsters. hehe... glad you liked it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

WOWIE ZOWIE!

Meri, that was fantastic! That guy is positively delicious!

As to villainizing... I've got a lovely little guy in mind. Still have to iron out some (nearly all) details, but I'll be happy to do some PM conceptualizing - you've already gotten my gears turning.

In the meantime I'll start a sheet for my villain. I also should come up with a sheet for Mami Fortuna while I'm at it, huh?

This is twisting itself out to be something really great!

Oh, Eol - have fun with the medallion I just dropped in your lap.

Well...

I made Alice... she turned out quite different than I had expected.

However, before I put up the post I made for her, I'm probably going to have to warn you three right now that Alice is unnaturally... almost freaky in a sense. The reason for that is partially because she is Tainted, and thus mentally unstable, but also because she hasn't aged physically or mentally since she was pretty young (less than 12).

Although I'm kind of impressed at how I've made her, I really don't want to freak any of you out beyond your comfort zone. So, with that in mind, I'm not going to put up Alice's first post without consulting with you three first; it's up to you if you really want to see or not

So, I guess that's it for me tonight ^^

Reralae

PS. If it's as my intuition seems to be telling me, I'll probably revise Alice if her current 'incarnation' is too much in the way of the off-centre horror genre, and try to make her more the way I first envisioned her.

Be still my heart!

This gets better and better with every single post and the possibilities as to where this story goes are just infinite if you ask me. You ladies are all fantastic and I've just gotta gush about how glad I am that we've managed to pull this whole thing out of "fizzled games" and "half done" characters to come up with this... soooo.... *gushgushgush* And, also, HUGE thanks to all of you for sparking my muse and imagination again.

Now, I'm done being mooshy for a minute, I guess... on to villainizing and character sheets and all that business...

First: Do we want to consolidate all the PC and NPC character sheets (or at least summaries of them) in the Q&A for mutual reference purposes or would you all prefer to keep that business in the PM realm or some other venue?

Second: Nothing from gboy as Joe Kelly, yet, and the game could use a post or two from him to get him involved in the story a bit more... I'm not opposed to whipping a post or two up until gboy can get into the flow and whatnot... would love for him to get involved, though...

Third: I foresee Alex developing/changing and almost certainly becoming more powerful as a result of what our characters are going to be up against (and, likely, with the help of his immortal lady friends) - it's that or die, right? Also, I can see maybe, possibly, quite necessarily nudging Janelle more towards 'awareness' of her gift... we might need to confab on all of that character development stuff a bit, as well, eh?

Okay... random thoughts have been sprung on the Universe... let's see where they go now that they're out there.

A Rolling Stone...

Makes for squishy PC's...

1. I like the idea of getting the char sheets together somewhere, and maybe bits of background stories in there too. I think I can trust this group not to metagame too badly

2. I likewise agree that all the characters are going to undergo some development/improvement as this goes on, and character points should likely be awarded in some fashion to account for that.

3. Our villians - are we building them to be the same 'level' as our PC's or do we think they deserve more points and such?

4. Alice... well I don't know more then what you put up in that last post but I'm intruiged. Another off balanced char to oppose Rosie and trust me there isn't much you could do that would make -me- uncomfortable, so dish it out!

5. This is fun!!!

Speaking of points...

If you remember, our characters actually would have more points than our villains right now; those bonus points that were given by Vesper in character creation.... which is kind of the opposite of how it's supposed to be, you know?

So, yep, I'd say that our villains should at least get the same number of bonus points (which was 15 if you don't quite remember), if not a little bit more just because they are villains... or at least antagonists anyway

As to sharing character sheets, I don't mind. Just let me know if that's what we're doing and I'll find Janelle's sheet... and perhaps even Alex's and Smoke's too, since you did run them by me

I'm totally for character development too; that's part of the reason why I play these games... I like to see how they make their own stories... ^^

And regarding Joe played by gboy... I'm kind of with you on that, in that it may be needed to post as the character soon, but it would be nice to wait for gboy... which doesn't help if something's come up on his end of the world...

Ziggity-ziggity-zip-zip-zoom!

I kind of think that the baddies should be a bit more powerful than the heroes, myself. Katul is the "head" of an entire Cult, after all... he's got numbers and, most likely, the supernatural wherewithall to easily hand, at least Alex, his butt in a one on one show down... Alvaro is an immortal with prejudices carried over through centuries from the Inquisition... the fact that he was an inquisitor before becoming cursed surely hasn't made him an easy foe... And Alice... welllllll... I just can't wait to see what Alice might be like (I keep seeing that girl crawling out of the well in "The Ring" when I try to imagine it, though... I don' have a clue as to why...)

Yak!Yak!Yak! Shaddap, Eol!
Anyway, as to character sheets...I think this is the last update of the character sheet I had for Alex where Vesper's game was concerned... Not sure that it hasn't been slightly tweaked since that point to account for the "time elapsed" from then, however.

Alrighty, I have a proposal

Since our characters have 15 points more than the standard, how about 25 for the villains? That easily puts them at a higher level than our normal characters, but hopefully not so much that it'd be beyond our character's capabilities.

I can't say much regarding the girl from the Ring, since I don't know that movie, but I'm pretty sure Alice might at least look, if not act, stranger... but again, I don't know that movie ^^;

Anyway, here's Janelle ^^

Possessions of Note or which she often carries:
Janelle has both a rapier and a fencing foil.
She often carries a handbag that holds the following:
-Sketchbook (usually half-filled with drawings or so, unless it's new)
-Mechanical pencil
-Eraser
-Makeup (not much; just blush a slight shade redder than her natural skin tone, foundation, violet nail polish, and sometimes a dark blue eyeshadow and lipstick)
-Mirror (to apply the makeup)
-Purse (usually carries no more than $30 in cash, but has change and her debit card)
Another key thing to note is her wristwatch is digital (related to her Weird Delusion)

Janelle's Weird Delusion: Analog Clock Hands

This delusion is based on this poem I wrote:

When the clock hands unite, whether it is day or night,
Expect the unexpected, or you'll be in for a fright.
Midnight and noon, the special times when the hands unite,
If you don't hide, become aware of the half-hour of plight.
However, when the hands balance, and are opposite on the clock's face,
The world has shifted to become a better place.
The chime of six, at either part of the day,
Begets a change that could benefit either way.
But in places with clocks that lack their own arms,
People are not affected by their swaying charms.
Clock hands that are plain are less liable to this effect,
And only 6 and 12 bring out any change that will affect.
Clock hands that are ornate are an entirely different case,
For whether it is major or minor, they will change reality's face.
Finally, for those clocks that exist that are missing an arm,
Beware those the most, for they will only bring about harm!

From that, I think you can kind of tell Janelle's application of it: she'll have a tendency to glance at other's watches or clocks to see if they're analog or digital, give them warnings if it is analog, and particularly avoid analog clocks at noon and midnight.

Background/Description

What is normal? Does it have specifics? Is it something that exists? Can it even be defined? If only she could have been normal, perhaps things would be alright. To live, oblivious of the things around her that did not make sense. Well, alright, that's ignorance, rather than bliss.

Janelle preferred to live a normal life, whatever that meant. For her, normal was getting involved with her two teams, both of them sports, one gymnastics, the other fencing. To her, normal was to avoid the stroke of noon and midnight by analog clocks. To compete in tournaments and competitions for both of her teams, as a star athlete. To sketch in her sketchbook when she felt like it. In any case, for her, normal meant ignoring the power she had long concealed.

As far as Janelle can remember, she always had this ability, the power to heal. However, despite the fact she had the ability, she never once used it. No, it made her too different, and that was something she couldn't bear. Not only that, but she would be used; people would abuse her power, and she did not want that either. True, her own natural abilities were being exploited by the two teams she was involved in, but that was normal, and acceptable. To be exploited as a supernatural healer was something she couldn't bear to think about.

Still, the fact that she had that power often did scream at her to do something, especially in fencing and gymnastic tournaments where people can get injured from competing. There was something in the back of her mind that makes her want to go out of her way to help, despite the risks associated with it. Thankfully, in truth, Janelle does have a small streak of cowardice that has also aided in keeping her in check, and not using her power.

Janelle had never even told her parents about her ability, although she doubted if they'd believe her. Still, despite the concealment of her power, she stood out as different. This had nothing to do with anything supernatural; she just had incredible talent, which made her easy to notice. Her sketches, her incredible prowess in gymnastics and fencing, and finally what others saw as a 'bizarre' belief regarding clocks also made her different.

Yet, perhaps even though she is different, this can still be normal. In the end, Janelle could easily say that she is content with how she is currently living.

Janelle, or Rosetta as she sometimes is known by, is a fairly slender, and slightly tall individual. Her long, black hair is often braided down her back, secured by an elastic that looks like a ring of roses that she almost always wears. She often wears slightly formal or dress clothes, even to team practises, and in truth often looks more formal than the actual team manager. In fencing tournaments especially, Rosetta also has a slight reputation for toying with her opponent before taking the victory for herself.

One of her most prized possessions is her own rapier, which was a very unique find. The hilt appears to be a weave of flower stems, and the pommel is a blossoming rose. The guard of the blade appears to be two leaves that extend from the stems, and the blade itself, while obviously steel, is engraved with the inscription of vines travelling down the blade. However, despite its ornate appearance, the blade is still sharp and quite usable.

25 pts sounds good...

...and plenty tough enough.

Here's the starts of a character sheet for Joe Kelly. Haven't come anywhere near spending all his points, yet, and figured I'd let gboy polish this off and/or completely revamp as he sees fit.

Joe Kelly
Concept: Reluctant Hero (at least for the purposes of this story... I don't imagine Joe is going to want to believe in magic and immortals and such... and he sure isn't gonna be happy about getting wrapped up in a "war" between gifted and supernaturals...)

Character type: Mundane Hero

Description Gender: Male | Age: 35 | Height: 6'1" | Weight: 225
Race: Caucasian | Hair: Red | Eyes: Green

Strength: 5 Dexterity: 3 Constitution: 5
Intelligence: 3 Perception: 4 Willpower: 5

Life Points: 56
Endurance: 50
Speed: 16
Essence: 25

Qualities and Drawbacks: Level (Cost/XPs) Hard to Kill: 2 (2/0), Contacts: 5 (5/0), Nerves of Steel: 1 (3/0), Situational Awareness: 1 (2/0), Fast Reaction Time : 1 (2/0), Honorable: 3 (-3/0), Cruel: 1 (-1/0),

Skills: Level (Cost/XPs) Weight Lifting(): 2 (2/0), Sport (Football): 4 (4/0), Brawling: 5 (5/0), Guns (Handgun): 5 (5/0), (Rifle/Shotgun): 4 (/), First Aid: 2 (2/0), Questioning: 5 (5/0), Intimidation: 3 (3/0), Streetwise: 3 (3/0), Driving (Car): 2 (2/0), Surveillance: 3 (3/0), Humanities (Law): 4 (4/0), Notice: 2 (2/0),
