Forgotten Kings Q&A

Atria, as mentioned before, is a continent perfect for adventure. It is large, it is chaotic, and around every corner you can just bet that a princess has been kidnapped by a fire breathing turtle with unexplained motivation. The aforementioned road lies within the city of Bellaine, a city renowned for adventure hooks. While it is a very illustrious city it is, as of now, completely devoid of taverns (new regulations however ban the use of fireballs in bar fights). Because of this the amount of new adventuring parties has been on the decline. This forces Dukes in need of the services of low level adventuring parties to resort to desperate measures. The more old fashioned Dukes dress up as fortune tellers, making prophecies involving random people off the street (frequently requiring the prophecised to first rid basements of rat infestations). However a method that has recently been increasing in popularity involves setting up stands off the side of roads. This is a slightly more progressive approach and has recieved little support from the right wing Dukes.

------------------------------

This is intended to be a player run campaign. Thats not to say that I won't provide adventure hooks or won't have an underlying story. Players are encouraged to be as ambitious as they like. If their character's sole purpose is obtaining immortality, they will have the option to research it, find out how to obtain it, and likely have some kind of adventure linking to it. Your alignments are not restricted, evil characters are allowed but not encouraged. As long as you can give me a reason why you won't slaughter your allies on a whim, then I should have no problem with it.

As for variants I'm not thinking of applying to many. First off I'm going to be using a different Xp system, you won't get standard experience from killing enemies. It will be more of an objective based system. For example lets say one objective is getting past a room full of enemies (chances are they won't be as simple as that), no matter what methods you use to get past them you'll get the same experience, so a rogue who sneaks past completely unnoticed will get as much experience as the barbarian who charges in and takes them all out. I don't want a player's actions to be influenced on getting experience, the rogue who specializes in sneaking should not be penalized because he uses his ability. This being said I will also give experience bonuses to characters who do something, for lack of a better word, freaking awesome.

As you can probably assume the key adventure hook for this campaign is the stand advertising for adventures. Try to incorporate why your character would choose to join the party. Gold, adventure, secret desires of robbing the party (just kidding... or am I?) pretty much anything that fits with your character. Oh yeah, on a related note I am not going to regulate item distribution in the party, therefore the rogue who stashes gems in his boots will have a larger share than the rest of the party. Let it be known that I also will not regulate the actions of anyone who notices a clinking sound made with each of the rogue's steps. Theives be warned!

So thats all from me for now, feel free to ask questions, criticize me (at your own risk), or whatever you so please. Just so you know I will not be posting background stories, its your choice whether to share it or keep it secret. The campaign will start soon after all of the characters come in.

I hope your up for it

so many GMs/DMs and games just say no to arguments between party members, if it's proper role-playing and it's not serous it adds to the game and help with character development and can form a party identity.

I'm all for it, but do agree it need to be controlled.

PS: I haven't given my character an allignment, beacuse I don't belive in the use of allignments, but my characters are normaly neutral or chaotic good, more often chaotic then neutral.

********************

I'm eager to get started, how many more days/characters until we can get going?

Fear not!

Thou shalt not be the only meat shield against the onslaught of the multifarious perils that so face(eth?) our band. I, too, shall put forth my sword for the cause of righteousness!

(Just as soon as I finish that character)

Of ignored questions and such

Ah, it seems I have ignored Tus Lased's question for long enough now, don't worry it won't be an AC penalty, it'll be more of an in game one, such as you randomly get poisoned at the beginning of the game (but not, because now you'd suspect it).

Still one left

Baron has now finished his character leaving Sibelius in his wake. You are all encouraged to redouble your nagging efforts on him.

Alright!

Matthias Amadeus Swan sent!

Errata (wow, even faster than WotC after a new edition): That should be an eight with a closing parenthesis. That string of random things in the middle was Gold calculation. Remove it as you see fit and replace the result wherever wealth fits.

If anything else doesn't fit, I'll be updating my game over here until I'm gone.
