a dying world

Ok like I said I'm gonna start the game today. Its gonna take most of the day so be patient as I'm going to post individual intros. (I'm only going to separate them to this degree this once. I'll post them as I got the characters so first up is Usso. A couple last notes: as to leveling and experience I will give experience for good role play, monster killing, and puzzle solving. When you level you must put your skill points in skills you used in your last level, I.E. If you did no negotiating or peace bringing you can't point ranks in diplomacy this time, on the other hand if all you seemed to do was negotiate and keep the peace you have to put ranks in diplomacy. This will do two things one it will keep you true to your character and two it will put the ranks where your obviously using them and so obviously need them. A side not about skills and skill points. Just because you don't have a skill doesn't mean you can't try to use the skill even if the rules generally wouldn't let you. Like opening locks, if you have the tools and opportunity you can make the attempt. Chances are you'll fail but eventually I'll give you bonus skill points and you may succeed. If you study up on something like religious history I will give bonus skill points to put into the field you studied.

Also on the note of arcane spells. You have to research any new arcane spells you gain. In the case of a sorcerer that means you have to meditate on your power and maybe have some failures at manifesting the spell before you could gain it. For a wizard that means researching the spell at a library or stealing another wizard's spellbook.

Those are the house rules being implemented any questions pot them here.

more intros

I posted a few more intros and have now hit a minor case of burnout...sorry Ayrn I'll post an intro for you later tonight after burnout turns to boredom.

The rest of you may post at anytime though.

well thank you

Oh and if there was any confusion Avariel's are not native to my world so the winged elf will be quite the spectacle.

Oh and one more thing the other intros are up.

First post in

Haha! Got my post in, I'm happy to see I'm not the last one to do so as well. I probably would have posted earlier but I didn't notice that the Q&A thread was up or that the game started until earlier today.

Dohp

As much as I don't mind you guys describing and npcing general stuff like the tavern (very nice description btw Fletch) If you're gonna do it then you have to listen to the hints I and the others give to make it a comprehensive and flowing story. For example Tus Lased the bartender would have to tell you that he has no idea what your talking about as the dragon man(who is already in the tavern under your nose) has never been to this town (having just finished his second step in the journey of the hero: being hidden away) and the nature man has only been to town twice (currently in the middle of his second trip) and didn't stop in at the tavern so basically not regular customers. Oh and a note on describing stuff on your own, I reserve the right to make you change your post for storyline reasons.

In answer to ayrn and aardvark

After intros I will not take control of your characters (unless of course you fail a will save) so any actions your characters take will be yours alone and the length at which you go with them is up to you. I feel that now as DM it is up to me to move the story and provide scenery (including monsters and NPCs) don't worry about messing up the story if your character wouldn't do something. I'll adjust and the story will move on. Well I said I wouldn't take over your character but should Tus Lased still bring the halfling into the bar at some point Ayrn you will continually bump into or see the halfling hinting that she is the first clue.

Tus Lased you will need to correct the misunderstanding about the dragon man and nature man.

And first update this monday, don't be afraid to interact with each other or other NPCs even if you've posted for this round. Rounds will only really matter during combat, otherwise time happens as posts come in. And in case you do decide to talk to an NPC Krichton though small gets a lot of tourists and you can find almost any variety of person walking its streets or inhabiting the Trotting Horse. (Aren't I creative with my tavern names? )

Tus

Good eye. Your character knows of 'the chosen of gods to seek' whatever that means. How you come to the conclusion that Marianna is that is to be played out in character but currently you have no idea who any of the people you're looking for are just a bunch of vague prophetic descriptions. So in answer to your question no you don't know about Marianna unfortunately your god is not leading you like hers leads her. Oh and please either edit your question post into a game post or delete it questions like that are supposed to be asked here in the questions and answers thread. Oh and you still haven't fixed your previous post.

And updated

As promised I've updated late Monday night but its still Monday. (according to my clock its 11:48 pm.) And I've even given you a bonus look into next week's update. A few notes I didn't include in my post... If Usso takes the NPC's offer of going to the inn you will all notice him and the scene in the inn will take a dramatic turn towards gawking at the spectacle. You'll note I didn't include the spell thief in my update, though I started the thread for dukeee I haven't heard from her in a while we might have to drop her so I'm basically ignoring her since its still the early stages of the game.

Enjoy

Experience

I suppose its bout time I reserved this spot yeah?

Ok so for roleplay you get 10 points. (basically for just posting) For descriptive and good roleplay you get 50 points. (see Ayrn, Fletch, Aardvark, and Usso's intro posts for an example of this.) Combat exp will be delivered and divided based on CR and who hit what as it says in the DMG. As a special note, sorry Usso, as Usso is an Avariel he is an ECL of 2 whereas the rest of the party is an ECL of 1 which means that until the entire party is the same ECL Usso will take only half combat exp. Again sorry but it will balance out the game in the long run, don't mean to pick on the newbie I promise. I imagine that this will occur when the party reaches ECL of 3. My excuse on this is as you have a higher ECL you actually gain less exp having to exert yourself less. So EXP currently stands:

Verridndan Kevaethdal- 150
Bravish Von Elksin- 150
Hammer Ulric- 100
Levana Amaker- 60
Marianna- 150
Kilvic Rockpalm- 0

So now we begin combat. I received a pm from Tus explaining what he wanted so that's what he did, however cause it wasn't posted he doesn't get the bonus posting exp. Fletch also didn't post so I just npc'd him where he wouldn't really have to move.
