quick question

I noticed it in Wolf's (Tann) post and I apologize if it was mentioned before and I missed it.

What are Plot Points?

Plot points

Aryn - plot points are a 'pool of points' (each of our characters has started of with 6) that are available to you to use if you want to add 'an extra something' in order to help make sure that you have a successful chance at doing something... For example; if Jessy wanted to jump from the roof of one building to another in her attempt to get away from the folks chasing her buuuut that target roof was a little farther way than she's ever truly jumped before, she might want to throw plot point or two at the jump attempt.

Alacrity explains this better but I think that's the gist of it.

Also, Tann - Bi Zuei is "Shut up"... I think you're looking for "guay" in that last post.

Idea on Life support .........

I sent this as a reply on a PM but I thought I would cast it out to all.

I just read Tann's post and should have Ash reply. I will have the kid pose the question to Wolf. We can figure if it's a good idea here in Q&A, then flash it out.

Ok, so here's a thought. Can the shuttles be used to have their Life Support systems turned on to make and clean more air? Systems on and doors open to the passage way might make a secondary air flow system. Sort an Apolo 13 kind of thing. Another idea is to move folks to the shuttles to reduce the number on board. Self contained lifeboat sort of things. They could follow on the four hour trip to the moon if that wasn't on hard burn.

Are the Life pods from the Liner able to follow the Roc to the moon. We could shepard them to safety, sort of? Talk about a Piped Pipper thing. This could be great for business saving the backside of so many Rich folk.

Plot points....

The muff Asher had when he pulled the shunt might have been less it I'd had Roger use some of Asher plot points. John's console may not have gone out or just flicker a bit.

stuff

You have to ask to use the plot points. I will not volunteer them on your behalf although I may suggest them. However if you botch a roll, plot points will not save you, but they can lessen the damage.

The shuttle idea is a good one - certainly couldn't hurt. My only hesitation would be would you have to run the engines to have life support. I would say no as they are short range vehicles and would nut have the spinning drive engines.

The life pods have there own system of propulsion that can not be overwritten or even controlled by inside people. The people in the life pods are safe and the beeps are sending signals to alliance. As soon as they get away from whatever is jamming you, they will summon help. So you are best to worry about the survivors you have rather than those in the pods.

You could move some of the passengers to the shuttles for room. You can also move people into your bunk area, kitchen and the engine room. But the more spread out, the less you can watch them and more likely someone will do something they are not suppose to (say, I need room service. Maybe one of these buttons will call a valet.)

PP

One key aspect to this game is Plot Points. They are points your character gets for good roleplay, especially with playing on complications. You can use your plot poits to:

1. Add to your own rolls to improve chances.
2. To subtract from damage done in combat
3. Effect an outcome after the fact

Now I play them differently than the rules. If you use a plot point to enhance a roll 1 point gets you an extra d6. If you spent 2 points than you use d8, 3 = d10 etc. So if you really need to kill someone, you say in your post that you are adding a plot point and you get an extra d6 added to your roll.

If you get wounded in combat, you can get a die roll taken off your damage. So you have been shot for 12 points of damage (6 points of stun and 6 of wounds). You post you wish to decrease the damage with a plot point and I roll a 6. That would reduce the total damage to 6 so you would have 3 stun and 3 wound and I would post that the wound looks worst than it is.

If you choose after the fact to use a plot point, like after you missed hitting the rope that holds the wagon wheel over the bar, then you need to spent 2 points to get a d6 and 2 more for a d8. Expensive after the fact.

Now all players will start with 6 plot points. use them wisely.

There is a lot of stuff happening in the post and a lot for people to work out. Hope I didn't overwhelm anyone. I will be PMing some of you with additional information. The next few moments should be ... interesting.

There are 72 passengers in your cargo hold. 54 are male, 18 females. Four males are older teens (18ish) and four females are younger teens (16ish). Yes you can keep them in the cargo hold and have room to move but it is not comfortable and it will cause the temp to rise. However, you are about to have more important issues to deal with than that.
