Hello?

Didn't you read that last post?

One of these days... I'm gonna play a character that doesn't stand in front of the on-coming train and go; "Oh yeah? I dare ya ta push me! I double dog dare ya!"

Wonder if there's a future in playing a brick in some Inn?

Error

I made a math error on the damage to Sam and added the initial wounds twice. He is at 8 wounds, not 11.

Robert has the option of dialing back the damage with plot points. If he does, the wound will be a deflection off his ballistic vest, leaving a massive bruise but not a vital wound.

I owe most of you some PP for character playing. You have all been doing a great job so far and I shouldn't be so stingy.

I have to say that the combat system in Serenity is quite deadly. Death can be quite quick and abrupt, which I suppose is realistic, but since I am a dyed in the wool D&D player, surprises me ever time I play it out.

Beautiful isn't it?

No offence, Robert, but I love systems that take combat seriously. This, Roger, is how CyberPunk is, and is how I know run all of my fantasy games too (though not with this exact system, it is close).

What's you're ruling on using Plot Points for other players?'Cause I may throw some Sam's way if possible. I'll try and post here within the next few hours, or no later than tomorrow night. Also, how many PP do each of us have now?

Ok need a lil help here

Roger, Brom you both keep talking about things like Plot Points and a few other things I am sure are game terms but I have no clue what they are.

Not sure if I asked you this same question before but if I did I apologize ahead of time.

I believe it explains it earlier in this thread...

Basically, they are the equivalent of player experience points that you can use to alter the course of the game. A great mechanic that I'll actually be using in my Embodiment game. You have a certain number and you utilize them to change die scores, reduce damage, even move the story in your favor (possibly).

Speaking of Plot Points...I may also decide to throw some at this situation (the ramming) if it will keep us alive.

No offense taken...

...I'm all for 'serious combat,' myself. It's all part and parcel of the experience, you know? Hard to 'get into it' properly if you go in thinking; "Oh, I'll never die without coming back, being saved at the last minute, etc..." I don't wanna be immortal, I wanna have fun!

I'm just giving Roger a hard time.

Plot Points

Plot Points as Bro said, are points you use to help yourself do something, or save your a$$ in combat. Everyone starts with 6 and you gain points by playing your character well, especially playing your complications.

Every point point you spend give up a step up on a die added to your roll. so if you spent one point, you get a d2, if you spend 2 points you get a d4 3-d6 etc etc.

If you are wounded in combat, you can "adjust" the damage downwards the same way. Note, this has to be done immediately upon being wounded, not three posts (by me) later. Now I tend to be liberal and give 2 points recovered per die, but that is me.

As I said, everyone gets 6 to start. As I said you all have gained some more for great playing.

Wyatt - 9
Willow - 9
Asher - 9
Sam - 3 (used 6)
Fenris - 6 (just started)

Now when this campaign ends, if you have more than 6, you use the difference as advancement points to raise skills or even stats.

As to "giving" plot points - According to the book, you can do that since you have Major Leadership as an asset, as long as the goals are the same. I would rule this is the same.

As for PP for ramming, hold on a bit. You won't get to ram in this round of posting, so see what Grant does first before deciding on that. Asher is a damn fine shot and you just gave him a +2 step bonus with leadership.

Well, let's do this:

I need Sam Dash alive, and awake. So if necessary to keep him in such a state, I'll devote some plot points to his die rolls to increase the type. I'll hold off on granting Ash any 'till I see what occurs here in the near future.

Aw, no prob, Cap'n!

Now that Asher's is free of the wheel, it's time to bring the grizzly to bare down on our enemies.

Not only is that little twerp swiss cheese... I think we'll be trying to blow out that whole mule.

Oh, it's a happy day!

A crude map

I had to do the map up in Corel as I don't have a scanner available.

The Frisco Bank
The front area is a porch. The Light mule is parked outside of it. Each square is 5 feet. The wall with the teller windows is only five feet high.

Jokes will lead to deduction of Plot points.

Rules lacking

The rules are really lacking for ramming or attacking vehicles. This is one of many problems I have with this system that I have to work out my own rules.

Anyone read the Battlestar Galactica Rules that have come out supposedly using the same system as Serenity? If they are the same or similar, I may want to look them up to see if they are of any use. BSG would have to have ship to ship combat.

I have some.

I have some for CyberPunk I could send you. The systems are similar enough I think they could work.

Sure

I love reading rule systems so send them my way. I rarely got thtough a system without taking away something new.

I played Shadowrun briefly for awhile - is the Cyberpunk similar to that?
