So we don't have to time to waste.............

Wow that's a long time to study. So gang what do we have prepared? With any luck the map may give us another way to escap. Invisible is about the best group spell Ulthok has ready.

Hmm...

Casting Invis 10' Radius might work. But, the danger is that whatever is out there can see through invisibility. Still, maybe it's worth the risk?

Sorry..................

Sorry if I was holding you folks up from your posts. I didn't mean to delay you. Next time give me a direct nudge in an email or PM or here. I can at least give you the jest of what I'm up to and if needed do a few mini posts to keep things moving.

Does anyone have Dimension Door ready? We could use that for short hops.

Since Tann pulled Halia's sheet I don't remember if she was a priest type or wizard type. Spell books or prayer books.

If she had Nap as a priest then it was a prayed for spell. Also her spell book won't help the wizards only the priest.
If it's a prayer couldn't the clerics read it and ask their gods to grant it? It shouldn't take hours of study, just time in prayer.

Or do I have that wrong?

No I have it wrong

My mistake somehow I keep thinking it's a mage spell but your right Ody it's a second LvL Priest spell.

See this is the problem with using the Tome of Magic for me as there are new spells for both Wizard's and Priest's of which I do not have knowledge of. Introducing Mage spells is easy. I plant a scroll, you find it, mage scribes it. New spell in game.
However Priests pray for thier spells so I plant a scroll, you find it, Priest reads it, scroll disapears and only the Priest who read the scroll has the spell. Now though the Priest has the spell he still needs to pray for it so praying still takes 8 hours. At least that's how I have always done it as it does not really say how long a Priest must pray.

Sooo as Nap is a priest spell that means Jinxa did not bring it into the game initially and I keep thinking that you first used it Keeper, am I correct? I know it has been used at least once in the game.
If so I'll add it to your spell list Keeper and allow you to change out 1 spell and put Nap in it's place.
Let me know.

nap

Yes I believe I was the first to use it. Priests do not memorize spells as mages do and do not need to "learn" a spell before praying for it. It is up to the god to determine whether or not to grant it. This is sometimes useful for a DM when a particular priest spell is neededl the god can ignore the priests request and instead substitute a spell of the dieties choosing.

DM's call.............

Just for thought, the games I've played as a cleric, it was required to pray at least once per day and usually for an hour to stay in good grace and ask for spells.

The wizards had to memorize and perpare the elements so the eight hour wasn't unusual, but then they kept those spells until the next study session.

The priest could change spells more often with only taking time out to pray. That was where Withdraw was great so they could do that and spend and an hour praying in just a couple of minutes. The down side was they were completely valnerable as they stood there praying.

As for Nap, it is a level 2 priest spell, so if Tann would define is as a "Common" spell then all of our priest would know it, they may have just not thought of it. It is from the Priest Compendium but it still can be defined as "Common".

If Bossman allow Nap as "Common" in his world then each priest could cast it on seperate mages and in the one hour we could achieve eight hours study. The warrior types would have to protect the mages as they "Nap".

Edit:
This might be a good place where Valene pipes up about maybe helping with casting Nap, then the other priest slap their foreheads and say"Oh yeah, we forgot about that!"

Yes and we should do it soon

Ok peoples, sorry I have been not posting for a bit. Real Life was a bit too real the past few weeks. But I am back and ready to get off this Mt. I have been in touch with Tann through e-mail and phone. Yes I do know if this Gygax town. I have been to the walls many times and just inside the township for supplies.

A Plan................

Ok, we have the start of a plan.

I don't remember how we got small the last time so we to figure who and how on that.

Ulthok can cast 10' Invisible to hide the group now being toted by Maggot. Then as we move out of the cave do Dimension Door to take us to middle of the bridge. Rayne could layer a Protection From Evil that might help the Door spell. We would be able to see if the door opened in right spot before we go through. If the spell doesn't work we make our way on foot.

Someone (Sirene) could cast haste on Maggot to get there faster. Others could cast Non Detect on Maggot which would cover us all as we would be part of his stuff. A 15' foot radius Silence (Cor or Rayne) would keep his foot steps quiet.

Then when get to the middle of the bridge we cross our finger and zip away via the teleport as Maggot sings Bye Bye Birdie to the crows and vultures.

A Plan Update...

We can go with the Invisible 10’. Don’t know about the Dimension Door thing. The other end is where? A roll that could hurt us, and if the door is not in the right spot that kind of magic could be a beacon for any high level mage to find that is in the area.

The Haste and Bless and Non Detect on Maggot would be nice also but not to sure about the 15’ Silence. If I cannot talk then I cannot cast, but as a ranger I can already move silent.

Then as stated, middle of bridge or when the mage stops pulling on me, I do my little song and away we dance.

Door...............

If Ulthok can see the center of the bridge then he can place the door there. But if you would rather run for it, so be it.

Now lets get small! Again!

Protected

Ayreon has a constant Protection from Evil 10'R aura around him. Unfortunately the evil creatures can feel it when they come close enough even if he was invisible. But in any case there's no need for anyone to spend a spell/prayer over it.

protection

Cor has a 1 foot protection, not super helpful for others.

Also remember that high level creatures are almost never effected due to low saving throws.

Small or what.....................

So who remembers how we got small, do you remember which page that was on?

We could try other ideas too. Got some reading to do.

================

Ok, here's an idea, Ulthok can cast Reduce one of big folk and cast Polymorph on himself to small creature. So there are two small.
===================
If we need to take the time to add some spells I saw Cor has 2 Nap spells ready. So if we need to take an hour to let mages add some spells to get small then that may be what we have to do.

Hmm

To be honest I haven't read through the whole game thread, so I don't know when or why you've made yourselves small before. But to me it seems fairly useless against beings as powerful as Shadow Wraiths or Dragons. Then again, the hobbits were able to hide under the roots of a tree without the Nazgul noticing them. So it might actually work. (not that I have any better ideas)

Perhaps Ayreon should go out and draw their attention so that the others can escape? Don't think he'd survive long enough to make any difference though.

More time...................

Tann, I think the team needs more time to post. We haven't been able to get a workable plan together.

I don't see enough spells to reduce the size of everyone.
If we risk an hour to have Sirene and Ulthok "Nap" (Cor has two Nap ready)then they can have enough "reduce" spells ready for everyone. The get small and get away could work then.

All I see now is Ulthok has one "Reduce" and Polymorph Self.
Sirene has Polymorph for herself. But that just three, the rest can't get small.

If we can't wait then this looks like a run and fight and fight and fight and fight........

I would hate to have to retreat back into the mountain, but if that's a safer place to "Nap" then that might be a choice.
