She is a Primal Mother Earth Goddess MOTHER NATURE, Greater, and her areas are Plants and Animals. I can find nothing else about her. and D&D has No mother earth goddess unless you go by Ceres who was a Roman or Greek Goddess. I will try to look them up,

Hmmm

Can she be healed by another from a spell and not lose concentration?

Yes Haila could

Be healed by another person and not lose the spell. As stated during the course of the Minute Meteor she can do alot of other things including cast more spells.

Healing Cynil though would end up with her losing her spell focus as the spell states she can do nothing while casting it for the next 6 rounds. Only reason she was able to start casting was that in the order of the initiative
the arrows hit her first.

But for you to heal Haila would be difficult as your stated in your new post your in the woods a good 50 yards from where she is on the ground.
Of course you could always change the post as I have not posted on it.

Concerns

OK, you said the arrows are "not aimed but fired in volley". So the archers are not targeting us but firing at random yet in two rounds they have managed over 50% hit rate. This seems just a bit high.

From the Unearthed Arcana: Oil of fiery burning is an impact only weapon that causes fire but no explosion, certainly not one that would throw folks around or attract attention from miles away. Creatures must be within 1" (mineatures or 10' extrapolated)to be effected. It is basically self lighting oil.

Reply to Keeper

First on the arrow question...The number of arrows being fired is over 100, first I roll to see how many come close enough to hit a character then I roll to see if those arrows hit. The ground of the campsite is covered by them but I only deal with as I said those that come close.
Remember in the first volley 15 arrows came your way but due to my bad rolls all missed you and the campsite is for all intents and purpose's an enclosed area uping the percentage of a hit being scored.

Next on the Oil, first if I read the Dragonmist’s post correct it was not Oil of Fiery Burning but normal lamp oil which by itself is not highly flammable but can be used to feed an existing flame.
Now the reason for the explosion... Magical fire burns at a much higher heat intensity then normal fire and burns quicker as such when the flask shattered against the tree, the heat not the flames of the magical fire caused the oil to act like a fuel air bomb and such the explosion.

And before you ask Keeper yes I did research on how heat effects a fire.

ahhh haaaa

So there are more arrows? That would have been a very important thing to mention; esp if there are 100 a round. Might have made a differance in Cor's estimate of how many enemies there are and also on his course of action. With only 20ish arrows posted it was assumed that there were about 12 or so enemies not the 50 there must be now.

On the oil thing: I will remember the amount of damage a single flask of oil does in contact with magic fire for use against bad guys later.

Ever throw lamp oil on a fire? It isn't very explosive or you wouldn't be able to use it in your home.

With all that said: Game on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do I feel I need to

Defend my post yet I do. What happened, happened. As far as informing you of every detail all I as DM have to do is tell you enough of what is happening to give you an idea, its up to you as the player to post what your character is doing based on what info I have supplied.
No where in anyone's post did anybody say they were counting arrows and if they had, considering what was happening, I would have found it very odd. Plus Keeper check your own counting as in my rd 1 posting more then 20 arrows were mentioned.

As for the Oil let me clarify that some more as I said above the combination of heat and Oil were the main part of the explosion but what I also should have added was the ongoing fuel of the flames...The tree's themselves. The tree's are in no way normal tree's any more they are as I said in the begining when you all arrived and with hints throughout my posts that they have been corrupted by something. They are tall and old and gnarled and stunted. They are very dry, brittle and and as Cynil found out very dark in nature. Who's to say that a combo of these things combined did not cause the explosion, as far as the characters are concerned they have no idea why the Oil caused the flames to explode only you as a player know this and to use this info as you hinted above is using DM given player knowledge in the game.

To conclude the only reason I am even explaining this is because for some damn reason I feel, as I said above, the need to defend the post when in reality as has been said before I am the DM...period.

So to paraphrase Keeper above....Game On!!

Do I have some of that oil!?!

So the rules are changing as we go, I will keep that in mind as I seek out and kill 50 instead of just the twenty.

Ok thats enough

Now your starting to annoy me, where do you guys keep coming up with this far fetched notion that there were only 20 enemies, come on you have only seen 1 so far. For all you know there are no enemies but as Dragonmist has pondered, the tree's themselves.

Kyle you say the rules are changing as we go well I take that as a personal insult and remind you and Keeper both once again, if for some reason you don't like the way I DM Trilogy your free to leave at any time, no hard feelings.

I researched for 2 days online and read over both the DM's Guide and Players Handbook about the effects of heat and fire and what type of combustable's had a greater chance to cause an explosion, so don't say I did not know what I was posting about.

Water Question?

Ok Tann just a simple question before I finish my post for this round.
With his action over Ulthok made to hide once again behind the canoe but was struck by the force wave from the blast and thrown into the river at his back.

So how far out have I been throwen can I stand in the water, is it over my head, is the current sweeping me down river. I need to know.
Thanxs

Arrow count

Round1:
Connal: hit by 4
Ulthok: no hits
Cynil: hit by 3
Hailia: hit by 6
Rayne: hit by 2
Cor: missed by 15
Divot "To his amazement not a single arrow came his way"

total arrows posted: 30 (so guess of about 15-20 archers)

no mention of something like "looking around there were nearly 70 arrows sticking in the ground" That would have been very useful and characters would certainly have seen such. Just asking for info of that sort in the future as it is important to players to choose actions. There is absolutely no reason characters would think that anything other than archers are firing arrows.

Rememeber that asking questions isn't a personal attack against you; just a request for clarrification so we can comtinue the game.

As for the oil thing: You are the DM and so the flask of oil explodes when hitting magic fire. Just asking that you remember that when we use it later against the "big guys".

So Noted

But again if you do use the oil that way be sure you do it without using player knowledge or I will disregard it.

My post stands as is with no changes what so ever

But let me post a side note for clarifaction the Campsite was engulfed in flames during the explosion and there are bits and pieces, some very big pieces, of tree's burning throughout the area. The tree's to all sides are starting to burn very fast and very hot sucking the air out of the area. The fire is quickly spreading on this side of the river but the other side is for the moment clear of flames.

The arrow fire HAS stopped.

Dragonmist you are on the edge of deeper water but still on the tide basin which means for now its not over your head and the current is not carrying you down river. You can make 'dry land' easily.

As for the rivers depth none of you know that since the whole time traveling on it you have been in the canoes, but be advised swiming with armor, weapons and backpacks is a bad thing

Update

Thanks for the update on the campsite; that is the kind of "situational awareness" posts that help us players.

Might have to go change my post, or maybe not.

Players all saw or felt the explosion and the only thing differant than last time we used oil is the magic fore. So no player knowledge needed.

Brianna is the only person who does not need to post as she is out cold right now.
