Don't Know About The Fever, But.......
THE CEDAR TREE
I understand why the People
in the Northwest
say the canoe is sacred,
that the canoe has a spirit.
We know that a cedar tree
can tell us by its rings
when salmon runs were big,
when bears and eagles
and wolves feasted on salmon,
and left the carcasses
near the trees,
and the carcasses decayed, and
the nutrients went into the soil,
and into the roots of the trees.
And what else do we know, but perhaps
this tree grew where an Ancestor
had been buried,
that the Ancestor fed the tree, that
the Ancestor’s flesh became the tree’s
flesh, that the Ancestor’s blood
became the tree’s sap?
And what else do we know, but that
This tree continued the life,
growing to great heights,
providing shelter for birds and
other animals,
providing bark fiber for clothing,
and for fishing nets,
providing bark fiber for baskets
in which to collect berries or cook shellfish,
fine woven baskets that are passed from
mother to daughter, and from grandmother
to granddaughter?
And when the tree’s time was done,
it was felled,
and became a canoe,
a seagoing canoe that carried the People
on waters the Ancestor knew,
carried the People to gatherings and
sacred ceremonies.
And what else do we know, but perhaps the
song that comes out on the water to a puller
in the canoe
is a song from the Ancestor,
a song of thanks for continuing the
circle of life,
and respecting the interconnectedness
of all living things,
a song of thanks for respecting
the sacredness of life?

Those trees
Not these Cedar trees.
Before the Germans came and settled in this region there were only a few Cedar trees that grew slow and very big and one trunk. I know these trees and can over look them. They were here long before the white settlers.
The ones I speak of give very little food and shelter to any animals. The trunk of the tree is not one but many. They were planted and used by the settlers of this region to use as fence posts. The posts today are made of mettle. They suck up the water and choke out other trees of this region, the live oak, the mesquite, and ash to name a few. The only canoe that can me made from this unwanted pest is perhaps one for Barbie and Ken to go with their summer home and spring time jeep.
They rank right up there next to our hog problem here. Now where is my box of kleenex?
Even in my state of blaaa i love you guys.

Wow very surprised
Ok I just got home being gone most of the day and evening and I have to say I did not expect that many posts. As its already past midnight here in Texas I will of course not be posting tonight.
I will however try to get a post up tomorrow night though I may not be able to as Mom has an operation early Tuesday morning on her nose so may not get one up till Wednesday.
Lets see how things go.

LOL just call me Evil Sprat
I still can't believe with the clues I have given you no one has guessed what these creatures are yet. They are out of the 2nd Edition AD&D and the full D&D Monster Encyclopedia they are not a DM creation.
Once you figure it out or I reveal then you'll be like oh no s**t duh

OK Ody is the man
Mr Odyson guessed and was correct as to what the new creatures are. He also was correct somewhat about the bigger picture. So give him credit where that credit is due

Non-Weapon Proficiencies used
I need to read this QA more often. Also used my Non-Weapon Proficiencies of Ancient History (+5) to know the enemy and such posting as such. If this does not sit well with you Tan let me know and I will edit.

DM call
Most DMs I have played for require you to put a magic hold on them or hold their hands from making the movement. If a magic user does get off the spell then you are along for the ride.
Plane shift would be harder to physically hold them in place because most critters that can travel that way do it at will. This would call for them to be knocked out or dead. Most DMs (again as above) would say no you do not go with them when they plane shift.
But you have those GMs that make the call a little differently.
Fun fun fun.

Sick once again
My apologies but I have been sick the last three days since I started feeling crappy Thursday afternoon. Then we lost power Fri morn and things from that point just got worse with a visit to the hospital. I will try to get a post up tonight but make no promises.
