Wow........

Good stuff folks. We must have got the rolls. If things can be justified, explained and we get the rolls then good stuff happens. Thanks for the ideas and the proding. Now we need to think some more. That gem thing seems to have some layers. We have the magic gems given to us the Neutralize the flying magic, we need to think how we might be able to use them to destroy the gem. Read Tann's description and think how we can peel back the layers and avoid the zapping frm the well. Also our magic is getting supercharged too, so be creative.

We also need to be ready to escape IF we are successful. You know this can't be simple or why else would Tann have make a point about being at full health.

I'm still healing in RL, I read it can 2 to 4 weeks.

Tann...........

Is the gem cage hanging from the ceiling or is it floating above the well?

Are energy blasts coming up to the cage or just staying inside the well?

The size of cage as compared to the well. Is the cage as wide as the well? If it is smaller how far in from the edge of well, in other words how far would one have reach over the well to touch the cage?

From one of your earlier posts: Hanging in the center was a huge caged, pulsating reddish gem enclosed in a crystal globe. The gem appears held in place in a spider web type wired frame. The whole thing was suspended above a pool of dark water with bursts of electrical flashes.
Just trying get a really good idea of this caged gem. Is the "Spider web frame" coming up from well? I am picturing sort of an inverted cone of web holding up the crystal ball holding the gem. How is your drawing skills to do a side view? There is a room map on page 224 that shows a top view, just need some size prespective, like what is the diameter of the well and diameter of the crystal ball.

Oh and how thick is the cage webbing, in case we want to try to cut through it?

Question

Well, Lothor has a big sword he can whack it with. Somehow this thing seems a bit out of his wheelhouse.

A question for those who have seen this quest from the beginning - are we worried about what the castle will land on if we bring it down? (Avengers assembled - had a bit of a similar problem in the new movie)

Outside the city..........

I would believe that when it falls it will land on the evil forces on the ground outside the city walls.

Nomad, page 192 gives the detail of the floating castle before we teleported there. Maybe a little helpful background.

The Red Gem..............

In order to destroy the Red gem in the Crystal ball in the metal webbing we have to get to the gem. I would guess that it protected from touch.

Spells to destroy the cage and then to destroy or open the crystal. Peri has Levitate so she could move the Red Gem or hold up the ball.

Could Flame Blade or Heat Metal get through the cage?

Clarifaction

(Sorry everyone for not getting back sooner.)

Ok to help everyone visualize the gem. Its floating magically above the frozen dark water housed inside a globe of crystal, reinforced on the outside by iron bars.
The flashes of lightening seem to be part of the magic holding it up.

The bars are like normal iron bars about the thickness of rail road tracks. The crystal surrounding it looks like thin glass.

I hope this helps.

Also was just reminded that tomorrow is Mother's Day so my post may be delayed a few days However I'll still try to get it posted.

I'm So Confused..........LOL

So a railroad track top rail is about 3 inches thick? If we chopped at that it would take several hacks to break through. The ball sound easy enough to break. If Ulthok's throwing Star break the crystal then we could lob our gems in through the bars.

But.......
Your discription sets my OVER THINKING mind to work.
The lightening bolts seem to hold up the cage.
"The flashes of lightening seem to be part of the magic holding it up.

Is the real magic in the gem OR IN THE WELL????????
Is the gem or the well the source????????

Crap over thinking again. Playing your games keeps me paranoid.

BTW.........

Just wanted to remind everyone about detail in your posts. There are basics that we take forgranted in 2.0 but we need to remember. I had to be reminded that our non combat actions can cause unwanted effects too. I am guilty of thinking only grand story and not remembering smaller details. I forgot that stuffing too much or the wrong items into a bag holding could destroy the bag. I will ammend an earlier post to cover that action. Our GM can't warn us about our actions, we need to think about them. I got lucky in trying to get clarification that this item became evident. If you unsure about something PM the GM, he can't alway tell us directly but he can give hints that help give us direction.

Ok no post

Ok as no one really did anything there is no real need for a post. I'll just tell you that the glass shatters when Ulthok's throwing star hits it.
On picking up and looking the glass shards over they are freezing cold and crumble into dust when held long enough or squeezed.

As such the crystal is no longer surrounding the gem but the Iron bars still frame it and its still floating in mid air. Nothing else has changed.

I'll post next week the 17th if you give me enough to work with.

Questioning

Ok in the last 2 weeks only 4 players have posted to the game. I cancelled last weekend's post as I did not have enough to really work with to write a post. Same again this weekend so I got to ask who is still here?

I hate having to ask this every so often but there comes a point when posts are few and far between that I have to know if I have enough players to continue, or to recruit once more. However with the way player recruitment has been for a number of games this year I fear there will be no new players to add to Trilogy and I will have to end it.

Please let me know who is still playing.
Thank you

Present!

Lothor is still here and hoping to smash a castle. He's just waiting on the wiser spell casters.

Still here...

I am still present and available.

I am also in the same boat as Nomad. I was going to write up a post today where Rayne offers to throw her gem into the power source (I'll admit, I am a bit slow on the draw recently).
