so we're gonna kill the little buggers

someone mentioned death fog (Ody?) - that could be a good option, shall I swap out one of Siréne's lvl 6 spells for that and then go to town? Siréne can go invisible, take flight, and then hit the island with a massive death fog spell? Or will that just kill everything? Maybe we find the lair and a few of us hit them with death fog?

Death Fog....???

Here is the Death fog spell:

Level: 6 Schools: Alteration, Evocation
Range: 30 yds. Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1d4 rds. + 1/level Casting Time: 6
Area of Effect: Two 10-ft. cubes/level Saving Throw: None

The casting of a death fog spell creates an area of solid fog that has the additional property of being highly acidic. The vapors are deadly to living things, so that vegetation exposed to them will die--grass and similar small plants in two rounds, bushes and shrubs in four, small trees in eight, and large trees in 16 rounds. Animal life not immune to acid suffers damage according to the length of time it is exposed to the vapors of a death fog, as follows:

1st round: 1 point

2nd round: 2 points

3rd round: 4 points

4th and each succeeding round: 8 points

The death fog otherwise resembles the 2nd-level fog cloud spell: rolling, billowing vapors that can be moved only by a very strong wind. Any creature attempting to move through the death fog progresses at a rate of 1 foot per unit of normal movement rate per round. A gust of wind spell cannot affect it, but a fireball, flame strike, or wall of fire can burn it away in a single round.

The material components are a pinch of dried and powdered peas, powdered animal hoof, and strong acid of any sort (including highly distilled vinegar or acid crystals), which must be obtained from an alchemist.
---------------------------------------------

so the fog bank is two 10ft cubes per level and can be cast up to 30 yards away. It will kill the plant life too.
It sounds like a slow kill so being cast back into the mass will affect those passing through it and the longer they are in it the more damage. The front of the attack will still be melee and we will need to hack and burn them without casting fires too deeply into the fight and burn off the fog. Maybe cast the fog over area going back from the beach so as they rise from their hopes the come into the fog? How big an area can you cover at your level?

Do you think we lure them onto the beach and spell attack from the boat?

Hmmmmmm

The little buggers want us, not the beach. They probably don't even come to the beach unless we are targets. The fog won't get them in their dens - and why would they go through it unless we are known to be on the other side. Which might be hard for them to know if we are on the other side of a dense fog. I'm not sure how well it works. Maybe.

If these are gibberlings we can probably stay safe behind a wall of fire - assuming we can stand the stench. And assuming they don't learn a trick or two about going around it - can they swim? can the fire extend a little out over the water so that they would have to go into water over their heads?

Maybe if Sirene could get airborn she could cast the death fog behind them, so that if they try to run away from the flames they have to escape through the fog. Didn't they eventually stop attacking into the wall of fire last time?
Who else can lob fireballs or something like that to kill as many as possible? Last time we killed several hundred, but that left many more than that alive, we need to get more this time. What a massacre, I can't say I like this plan even as I voted for it.

I don't know if it will help, but perhaps wet cloths over out mouth and nose will help with the smell of burned gibberling.

.

Since they walked into the flames last time I am assuming they are not bright. Fog them let them kill themselves. We hit them with other spells as well.

I Like This Talking Thing...

Need to be watchful. The fires will end the fog if too close.

Keep talking, we'll get to an AHA moment yet.

I'm still out of town and not too good at plotting right now so I'm open to every thought.

just ignore me....

so what we do is...

lure the critters out...
once we can see where about's they is
cast ice wall high enough they cant climb over it
send in the fog (something flammable )

then once they start dropping (like flies)

lob a fire spell in their an FOOF!!

an maybe the flames spread to the forest ..... :-/
(some ppl just want to watch the forest burn)

an tween the stink/smoke/fire/noise

they send the birddies out
an we
wait till thier nice an close like
an zapp em
with lightning

gather up the birddies

an eat like KINGS

MUWAHAHAAAA!!!

Tactical Advisor...........

Through the history of this game different people have stepped in and grabbed the reins as the lead for the members of this game. Keeper as Cor did this for a while and when RL stepped in it passed to others with more time. I have done this for a while the tried to help and suggest (maybe I got pushy, sorry) a course of action and why. I am asking that someone else step in now. I have taken on a new job that will have me too busy to do the "What If's" and look ups I did in the past. I fear Nimu is in the same boat and Keeper is in the middle of a family move.

I would lookup monsters and and spells and post back what I found to help the group figure how their character could react. It has helped me be better player. I also am not afraid to contact Tann in PMs to help clarify, it has helped me to avoid posting really bad ideas. (I should have asked about the Drow mine, oops..)

With my children grown I had more time in the evenings to sit and process stuff, but now with a new job as corporate quality manager over several locations I will be traveling and fire fighting for the next several month while the business transfers work to other locations due to a plant closing.

Ulthok and Peri are not going to leave the game, I just need some time to play reactive instead of proactive. I'll still toss in my two cents, but I won't be looking as deeply as I tried to before. I have been known to draw charts to see if fireball attacks would cover enough area (check back to the goblin battle in the castle).

Thanks......

Leader is more like cat herder in this group. . I try to give the group a nudge when needed. I say we try beach first. Well get a post up tonight staying the beach attack plan unless someone else wants to put it up first.

No post tonight

Ok I'm gonna hold off on my post another week. With Nimu unable to post this week, with Ody in flux, and being down two players at once. I really don't want to move you across the island towards the tower so undermanned.

Thanks to Nomad and Keeper for helping in the new recruitment drive lets hope we get some new players.
