My Guess.....

Here's how I see it.

 photo 9be11e34-55eb-4f93-a055-d422e06e2ae0_zpsv0ran5un.png
I had a guess that we were going to see more puzzles. I hope you guys are good with them.

No clues from me.

Is there any other way to see it? Can you read it sideways like a book in any way? So far I haven't seen a pattern, but is it safe to assume that the obvious vertical read is the correct one?

Sorry I can't help you here it's all up to you the players

The Question

That question was actually aimed at the group - I assumed you would be of no use to us.

As for the puzzle - I see it exactly as Ody does. The only question is if anyone can see any other pattern? It seems a bit too obvious, but maybe that is just the bait for the next trap. Anyone see a pattern any other way?

If we agree this is it, I'd say Ulthok gets the honor of posting the solution, or at least our version of it. Lothor will continue to stand their and meat shield.

Good Shield..........

Well while Ulthok does the first aid on his bleeding finger, which the meat shield didn't protect him from, then Lothor can solve the puzzle.

May need a little heal to be sure there is no poison.

Did your mother teach you nothing, little one?

Seriously? You go and stick your finger in a hole in the door to a cyclops' tower and your going to blame the meat shield? That is like breaking rule #1 of "Adventuring for Dummies"! Did anything attack your back? No, it didn't, not even when Lothor had to pick you up so you could see the little design.

I can get a post up fairly soon with the solution if desired. Let the rest of the pack speak up if they have any other options.

I didn't see this thread before I posted in game. Looks like I came up with same solution as Odyson

Not too Worried....

I am not worried about the prick having an affect on Ulthok. My stand is that Tann said Ulthok stuck his finger in and then got pricked and drew blood. It was not my choice but his, so he would not have ill effects on a character for the DM's action. If I had posted that he stuck his finger in then it would be my action and consequences.

So I will move forward without worry of poison or bad magic due to Ulthok's blood on the probe in the hole.

Ahh shit your rt

I must apologize then as the pricked finger does play into the puzzle and I should not have stated you put your finger in.

Honest answer, If I had not posted you putting your finger in, would you have done it yourself?

What Me Paranoid.........

It would have depended on how it was presented. It may have taken a couple of more posts. I think I would have had him probe first with some sort of tool of stick. If it had stuck on something he would been very careful, but most likely would have still probed.

He would ask Lothor to do it because his finger is longer...lol.

Now if is important to the plot just say so and we'll play the worried side of bleeding.

But I'd guess Ulthok's blood may foil some of the evil magic by have blood of a creature that didn't exist yet in this time.

Ok a dilemma of sorts lol

Basically it was just an empty finger sized hole for all your searching. However once you placed your finger, sensing blood, a needle came out of the stone and pricked you thus causing the puzzle to appear. If no finger, no blood, no puzzle.

However that taste of blood does have ramifications depending on how things go with solving the puzzle. As I made the mistake Ody, I'll let you decide if you actually place your finger in the hole. If not then the puzzle at this time will not have appeared and I will edit my post to reflect this.
