Buggers..............
Well that went well. So I guess that wasn't the correct sequence.
Sirene would know about Ulthok's Amulet of Life Protection.
She was there in Drow Mountain when he was killed by a fire ball, healed and brought back. Cor and Rayne would remember too.
Heal his body and his spirit returns and he is once more in the land of the living.

Well there's every chance that it WAS the correct sequence and that the next time some fool sticks a finger inside we'll get a different puzzle.
So this amulet - does it have unlimited use? Because if it does and all it takes to revive you after death is a simple heal spell, you're gonna be the finger-poking guy from here on in.

A mystery worth dying for?
Well, if we weren't able to do anything for the little guy we could just bury his remains with a little sign saying "Homo floresiensis." Then this world could have its own little "hobbit skeleton" mystery. Halfling remains over 1,000 years out of time. We'd just have to teach them about carbon dating.
Or, you know, we could bring the little guy back. Better for Ulthok, better for us, and the world will just have to survive with one less mystery.

BTW..........
The Amulet has unlimited life savings.
Amulet of Life Protection: This pendant or brooch device serves as protection for the psyche. The
wearer is protected from the magic jar spell or any similar mental attack that would usurp control of the
wearer's body. If the wearer is slain, the psyche enters the amulet and is protected for seven full days.
Thereafter, it departs to the plane of its alignment. If the amulet is destroyed during the seven days, the
psyche is utterly and irrevocably annihilated.
Sigh......

Maybe we should just go chop down a tree and use it as a battering ram.

Well Splat
I'll heal the little guy, besides, we do need guinea pig to test out all of these puzzles. Such a convenient little trinket!
Does it need a full heal? or will CLW work too?

The Amulet
I believe that 1 point of healing will bring him back to life but he will only have that 1 point. He will still need to be fully healed. I think that's the way we played it the last time Ulthok died years ago. Not 100% sure anymore to be honest
Oh and before anyone gets this idea the Amulet, since it has saved his life at least three times now, is bonded to only him and cannot be used by any one else.

From The Last Time.....
I read back to page 147 where Ulthok was last healed from death. Conall cast the healing.
Come on, old friend it is time to return to your body for we have need of you and your magics, Conall murmured as he knelt beside the body of his fallen friend. The paladin placed his hands upon the still chest of the Halfling and closed his eyes in prayer. ((OOC: Ill cast Heal Moderate Wounds and if thats not enough to get him back on his feet Ill go ahead and use my cure light wounds spell for the day also.))

But I would guess that to save game time we didn't press to much to post more. If Ulthok is dead then that is zero HP and needs full healing.

Great
I'll hit him with a cure spell. It's a relatively light week for me, so I will have a post up shortly.

To move Things Along.....
Tann left me a voice mail to post for Ulthok, the heal spell worked. He gave me some info to help move the story along, so I'll get a post up quickly.

Yep I did :)
However Ody, though the Heal spell worked, you were still technically dead so you do need to rememorize all your spells as they are gone.

Yeah But................
His mind and spirit were not dead, only his body so all of his memories, including his spell should still be in tact.
Only if you determine that it is like a battery discharging that he lost the power of the spells, such as when a spell in used. Then he would need to reread the spells to again recharge the power of their magic in him.
Is this a known fact? I don't remember going through it the last time.

Ideas anybody?
Anybody see any other way to read the signs from the quiz? If we don't have any idea how to solve it, there doesn't seem to be much reason to risk anyone's life trying.
What other options do we have? Someone suggested stone to mud around the hinges earlier. Given the magical resident of the tower I doubt it will work, but it can't hurt to try. Other ideas?
Q for the DM:
Have we officially scouted around the entire tower?
