Cantrips................

Ulthok may have lost his spells but cantrips are minor spells that don't take time to memorize. As young apprentices they are drilled into the them and there they remain. So Ulthok will cast the Cantrip "Clean" on the floor and the dust will be gone.

Clean (Useful)
(Abjuration)
Area of Effect: 4 sq. yds.
Casting Time: X segment

This cantrip enables the caster to remove
heavy soil, dirt, and like foreign objects from
floors, walls, dishes, windows, etc. These surfaces
are then spotless. Usually only one type of material is treated in a single application, as care must
be taken in removal of pigments and the like.
The verbal component is a low outrush of air,
the somatic is a circular band motion.

spells?

Sorry just wondering how spells work, took a look at the char sheet and it said something like spell book and spells memorized. Is it like 3.5 e where you memorize a spell from your spell book and then you "lose" the spell and have to re memorize it the next day?

Spells.....

For a Mage you study for 8 hours and "refresh" your knowledge so you can cast those spells. You then keep those until you use them or replace them with more study. We can only have a max number of spells at any given time. (see your character description, so many level 1, level 2, ect.)

Now in Ulthok's case he lost his spells when he died, so now he must study again to "refresh" his knowledge.

On your character info there is a section on the spells your character has learned and recorded so they are available, if you "refresh" them. It is considered to be your "Spell Book". As you reach new level you can add more spells to your book

I guess the thought is that a mage has learned so many spells that they must sort them out through study so to be able to cast them correctly.

Tann, anything to add?

Thank you! I'm hoping to get caught up to current events by thursday. I'm really hesitant to post as I don't want her to seem OOC

Aliya

Impulse, please don't be hesitant in playing Aliya, she will grow and become something new with you. Historically, she was played as a Mage who considered herself to be more of a warrior, but that could change depending on how you want her to evolve. It's an opportunity to make a truly multidimensional character. Looking forward to seeing what you do with her.

There are a few of us who have been playing this game for quite a number of years, so don't be shy if you have any questions!

@ Impulse

Impulse, Nimu is right Aliya is your character now so play her as you feel she should be played so you have fun. We have over the years have had many, many player changes and a lot who leave due to RL. However some even ended up returning to Trilogy to sometimes play a different character then the one they started once RL allowed them to.

So again play Aliya as you see fit I'm sure the rest of the players and myself will easily help you fit right in

Welcome to Trilogy the longest running game on the Inn.

Like They Said.........

I took over Ulthok and had to figure out who he was as I saw him. I used what others had wrote for facts but played him as I saw him. I have changed him some over time even from how I started him too. So just go for it!

I'd say you can have fun with your familiar too. Play Xin to accent Alyia's actions. I will was Peri to added to our story and help the party with her magic.

BTW - here is a great site that tells what the 2.0 wizards are. But it doesn't give Cantrips. You need to look those up in:
AD&D - Wizard's Spell Compendium Volume 4. Page 1049.

Thanks for the welcome again:)

You guys are really nice

I'll give it a shot then, just trying to read up on whats going on.

I started on 200, got to 206 ish, then skipped to 240, on 242 rn. Did we travel back to the past to prevent something? I was trying to figure out what was going on but i couldn't find it.

Time travel

"Travel back to the past" is putting it so very nicely.

It was more like the GM crushed all of our hopes, destroyed the future, blew everything up in our faces when we did exactly as requested and hurled us a couple of thousand years into the past. Where we currently find ourselves attempting to get Back to the Future by invading the tower of a magical cyclops.

Uhm, have you been warned about the GM yet?

Don't worry, if he kills you he will only call it a "flesh wound."

But it is a good game - and welcome!

Depending on What Tann Puts Before Us........

This round I'd say we are just getting things ready to go and next round we head off , most likely through the middle door.
Ulthok will take the lead as usual and search for trips and such. We should find a stair or sloping passage going down. I would guess we have several floors to explore. The next encounter will likely be in room like we had in the floating castle. So cinch up your nickers and away we go.

Busy...

Some things have come up for me this weekend. I will post a catch up post on Tuesday. I think going straight is the best course of action right now.
