Inside......
I posted Valene last time and get another one up.
Great job nomad getting more action out of our NPCs.
Now question for Tann. Did I read it right that there is now a hole in the ice mountain and we see movement inside the mountain through the hole?

Not so much open
As much thinner. It's easier to see into it but still 1 piece, no holes, still reasonably thick.

I am thinking we let the beholder kin fight it as long as possible to at least weaken it. Cold based attacks might be good like control temp. Basilicks blood might work or disintegrate. Long shot is portion of flying to get on its neck and attacks with vorporal sword.

Run Away............
Would this be a good time to use Roan's magic to zip out of here and regain all of our spells?

Run away might be good if we can ensure the dragon will be around later. That is not guaranteed.

More Power........
Well is good that Sirene was able to hold her disintegrate spell, it may be needed on the dragon. Ulthok has one too so between them that could be powerful. Although the dragon does get a saving throw each time. As big as it is it should have a boat load of HP so mass damage from these spells could mean the difference in surviving.I wonder if we could cut its head off? That would be cool.
I would say that Allanan is the most powerful of all us but being a NPC we don't know what he can do. We need him to do great things.
I wonder if Ulthok gets back stab bonuses while it is attacking the clownies?

Huge
Yikes. Yikes. Yikes.
I assume that it is evil - we did get a wave of hate. But it is also fighting the clown beholders. Why are they fighting it and containing it? What do they get out of it? I get the feeling we aren't supposed to worry about that - Allanan seemed to make it clear we needed its heart. That means dead, right? Any other option? Any chance it isn't evil? Gotta ask.
So a save on disintegrate still does half damage, right? I get the impression that the basilisks blood potions won't be worth much. Can you really turn a mountain sized critter to stone? Would it just affect a toe? Nothing in the description says they take damage on a save.
Lothor does have a rabbit's foot of luck meaning he can guarantee success on something he does. Not sure how much he can do. Handing it off isn't something he'd be inclined to do normally, but this does not seem like a normal situation.
They held it with ice, but that doesn't mean it is vulnerable. It seems to be healthy enough despite the incredible cold around it.
I don't think we want to let it wipe out the beholders completely first. If we get set up for attack before they are all gone I think we go for it. Continued attacks from the quarter can only help. Remember, 13 of them going all out don't seem to have done much.
Time to read about some characters and their gear.
Tann - did the veil spell survive the wave of magical power?
Tann- any impact from the basilisks potion (or the whip) if they save?

Options
Lothor doesn't have a lot - the previously mentioned rabbits foot could matter.
Roan - What is a vorpal defender of multiplication? I know the vorpal part, but not the multiplication part. Could that be big? Tann might argue the head is a bit big to be cut off, but the damage is big either way. He can turn into a bat to possibly fly up to its back.
Talca - I didn't see anything on his character sheet for anything better than arrows, which he will shoot, but which seem massively inadequate.

It's Thursday
Looking for some posts so I can start mine. If the general player consensus is you'd like more time to work it out, I am flexible

Called Shots....
I know most of the time we just call our attack and you roll the hit, but if we feel we are targeting a "soft" spot can we call it?
A highly skilled archer could try to hit the eyes and on a dragon this big they would be good sized targets.
Someone that throwing weapons that have proficiency might be able to do the same if within a reasonable range.
Magic missiles to the head of something this big might be a reasonable target too.
What you say Tann how should we play this?

Yes called shots
Do exist in AD&D. What happens if you call a specific target on a creature, the creature in that area gains a bonus to its AC making that area harder to hit. Say normally you need a 12 or better to hit, well a called shot depending on area targeted, could raise it up to like a 15 or more to hit on a Die 20 roll.

Damage
Tann:
Would a called shot to the eye or some such thing do extra damage or prove debilitating in some way? In essence, is it worth the added risk of missing?
Also, if Roan flew up to the beast as a bat, could he get there in one round? When could he attack?

More Input.....
I'd say another week to plan more would be good.
We need to think more about what this Dragon might be able to do. If it is so full of magic there could be all sorts of attacks it can do. I don't want to over think this but I don't want to underestimate it either.
We haven't heard much from Nimu or Keeper.
Nimu playing two mages and me playing Ulthok and Valene gives some magic power.
What is our range from the Dragon?

Called Shots Description
Would a called shot to the eye or some such thing do extra damage or prove debilitating in some way? In essence, is it worth the added risk of missing?
Called Shots
To make a called shot, a player must announce his intention before any initiative dice are rolled. Upon doing so, he suffers a +1 penalty to his initiative (representing the time spent carefully aiming his attack).
When the character does get a chance to act, his attack roll suffers a -4 penalty. If the roll succeeds, the called shot accomplishes what the player wanted; if the roll missed, no damage occurs.
Because the AD&D game uses a generalized system for damage, called shots cannot be used to accomplish certain things. Against a creature, a called shot will only cause the normal amount of damage allowed the weapon. Attempts to blind, cripple, or maim will not succeed. So what can it do?
A called shot can cause a target to drop items or react in some other, more subtle, way. It can penetrate weak points in armor. It also can be used in attempts to knock an object out of a hand, shatter a flask, or otherwise damage items. Called shots can be very useful in activating the trigger of a known trap (if this can be done with a weapon) or in impressing the locals in an archery contest.
Naturally, you can take Called Shots with melee, thrown, and missile weapons, and even with weapon-like spells such as magic missile.
Called Shots can be used for a variety of purposes. The most important of these are: Disarming a weapon; striking a specific body part; smashing something being held; bypassing armor; and special results.
Also, if Roan flew up to the beast as a bat, could he get there in one round? When could he attack? It would depend on his range of movement as a bat. As big as the Dragon is it might take him more then one.
What is our range from the Dragon? A good 300-350 yards
