Answer to Bri's question and a plea

OK Bri you asked me the following question...

IF I am right then I can take any of my clerical spells and change it for a heal spell of equivalent level or less, is that correct?
To answer you, yes you can, but only when you pray for them not while your up and moving. Also please, please check your character sheet Cure critical wounds is a 5th LvL spell of which you are only allowed one per your LvL and the spell listed as prayed for is Raise Dead. There is no way you could have cast 2 Cure crits. Also you do not have any Cure Light Wounds Memorized/Left to be able to cast them on others. As for the Cure Moderate you had 2 so the one you used on yourself has been added. As of right now no spells of healing from you have been yet cast on Althena and Haila.

Ok I have added healing to Cynil, Rayne and Haila again as they were the only 3 to actively post they were doing so. Some of you, and you know who you are, are still in the red zone.

Just checking

The post says the wall is melting 3 times faster than normal so I assume the room temp is 3x normal as well: if it was a comfy 70 it is now a balmy 210! Not sure how we wouldn't notice that but anyway: how are the plants faring in the new high heat environment?

Answer

You don't know, the only live plants are on the other side of the Ice Wall. Hey be happy that I am being nice and not have you heavy armor guys suffering heat damage.

Also yes healing to Cor has been updated though I do not know why

Melting..

Actually the temperature wouldn’t have to be 3 times the normal level to melt the ice 3 times faster as the increase in temp could cause exponential melting rates with only an increase of 30-40 degrees.

On another note, the ice in real life wouldn’t melt at normal temp in even 11 turns if you calculated the size of the wall and determined the rate at which it would melt using the simple formula:

q=h*A*(T2-T1), where q is the amount of heat transferred, h is the heat transfer coefficient, A is the surface area of the block, and T2-T1 is the difference between the average air temperature and the temperature of the block of ice, taking into consideration that the heat of fusion (the amount of heat necessary to transform ice to water) is 80 cal/gram.

The key to melting ice is heat transfer and air is a poor transfer medium.

Also, since we are underground the normal ambient temperature is typically around 50 - 54°F year round in this environment, so even if the temp was 3 times normal it would be about 150 - 162°F; which is hot but survivable for short periods.

Just FYI

WoW thanks for that little bit of Info

But in your calculations you forgot two important facts.
1) Its magical Ice
2) Its my world and I say what melts what

But thanks all the same YeOlde as believe it or not I too to some degree, thanks to my HVAC training, know a little of what ya posted. But for those who did not its good to know.

And just think Divot will be able to get his shield back and Cor will be reunited with his axes.
Of course the Globe and plants will be back but hey its all good

Hmm

But if magic fire is much hotter tham normal fire it would stand to reason that magic ice is colder than noraml ice; maybe like dry ice. In that case there wouldn't be any water to notice. How interesting.

Clarification

I kind of need clarification regarding what happened to Haila; either she's healed by Cor, or manually helped by Kenji, so... which is it?

Ok lets do this to simplify things

As there has been some confusion on my part as to who got healed by who Reralae lets say that Kenji helped reset your jaw and gave you a dose of potion and then Cor hit you with a cure Moderate which I will add to your HPs after this.

To make it easier for everyone if anyone has more healing they want added, post in the Q/A and I will add that healing later tonight.

Healing

I had Kenji tend to Haila as I hadnt seen anything in Cor's post specific to aiding her so I just wanted to make sure she was healed as her HPs were pretty low. It really doesnt matter and whatever is decided is fine with me.

Healing spells

From my sharacter sheet of memorized spells for hte day I believe that I can cast Cure Serious and one Cure Noferae still. Althena gets the CS, Divot gets the Cure Moderate. Since kenho ws aiding Hai for Raynela.

Ok No Problem Bri

Ok Bri I added the healing as asked to those characters leaving you W/O any more healing spells until you can once again pray for them.
Good thing too as Althena had only 13 hit points remaining.
