I've tried this post three times, so lets see if it works this time . . .

Another thought for an action in this fight or later:  you can "hold an action."  The idea is that you say, "I want to do this specific thing, but I'm going to wait until this other thing happens."  For example, you could ready an attack (or two if you get them)but not attack at you rnormal initiative.  Instead you wait until an imp reappears and then attack.  the reappearance of an imp is the stated trigger.  Doing this allows you to time your attack with other events and react to things tht would normally happen after your turn in the initiative sequence.  (Say, you go first and there is no imp to attack, but later in the round the imp reappears.)  The downside is that if your trigger never happens (For example, an imp reappearing was the trigger an no imp reappears) then you have wasted your turn and do nothing.

Actually, this is a 5E rule.  Not sure how it plays here..

I allow "hold action" in a round to go last if a person's initiative comes up and they have not been attacked or interfered with up to that point. Also like Nomad said above if your trigger does not happen you'll have wasted your turn for that round and that could change the course of a combat depending on that combat rounds results.

Well, that really stunk.  I had that litttle bugger right where I wanted him.  

So, where does the suggestion leave Lothor?  Can he do anything now?  Look for imps?  Attack them if they appear?  Fight rats?  Any limits?  Does he need to just stand there and wait for the imp to reappear?  

About 5 hours unless one of the mages cast's dispel magic on you and you'll just stand there staring at the wall waiting for the Imp to return. 

Sooo... Does Rayden's Blade flame thingy leave her exhausted or have a time limit? Seemsa  long time for an elf to hold and weild such a weapon for that long without any effects lol 

Geeze...you had to drop us in the middle of the rat room.

I had figured we would return to the same place in the hall we departed from, so we would be behind the party.

OK, so without an area map I am saying that we appeared at least 15 feet to 20 feet back away from the stairs leading up to the rest of the party in the hall.

We are facing the stairs Valene is in the middle, Ulthok to her right and sirene to her left.

Most of the rats on the floor between us and the stairs.

I vote we call Scooby and Shaggy for help with the mystery.  

So, what now?

We still had a quest to finish, right?

and maybe go to the authorities about the symbol?

Do we think this attack was aimed at us?  Or were we just in the wrong place at the right time?  Who know where we are?  Who exactly is our host - the other possible target?

i'm just gonna let him do what he needs. Rayden's an observer mostly... that and she probably knows that once he sets his mind to it there is little she can do to discourage him lol
