Battle

I think we need the distances from Tann before making plans.  However, if that chamber is 300 feet across, it would make sense that the Derro are something along the lines of 150200 feet away.  (Tann?)  This is just based off of the picture.  Am I correct in thinking that the Derro move at most 30' a turn?

If my distance assumptions are correct then we would have several turns before the Derro with the polearms can reach us.  In that case Lothor would make use of the bow Andurile's Blood, at least for a few turns.  But he would probably move to a position to fulfill his role as a meat shield for the mages.  Once melee starts he would use his sword in the same roll.  He has no area of effect powers, although his armor does improve the moralle of the dwarves with us.

Overall I would think this is a perfect time for mass effect spells.  This probbly means we need ot know the height of the room as well - unless Tann included that and I missed it.

Finally, with the dwarves with us being attacked it is likely that they are reliable, but I think we need to keep an eye on all dwarves from this point on.   (Except Cor, of course.)

Enemy Movement

They are actually moving as if all were hasted magically. You have maybe 2 turns before they all reach you. As for the roof ummm anyone looking up? If you are looking up please post that in your next post.

Brutus

If you remember Silent both Brutus and Dragon-soul's falcon never followed you in remaining outside the fortress.

I also did not add Frag or Peri as I'm unsure where they are at the moment. Ody, Nimu if you can give me a heads up thank you

Answers before battle...

Ok thanks for the heads up on looking up. We are a bit rusty for combat. Ulthok would have looked up and around as it is natural to his actions as being the one most often out front watching for traps. Peri and Valene are both causious too so they would have been looking around and up too. Will we have time for an answer back Tann of what we see before we attack this round so he can decide where to attack?

Depending on Tann's answer it will influence what Ulthok does.

FYI Peri was on Ulthok's should as usual when the entered the cavern and likely Valene was near by. I will post there actions for all three, but as usual Uthok and Peri will vanish to get advantage. Valene will seek cover and perhaps use her hat of disguise to change her looks. Need to go back and review all that she is allowed to do with that.

Called Tann.....

I wanted information to be able to post and with Tann's hint abpot looking up so I called him.

He is allowing me to share this information, there are Durro crawling across the ceiling to try and get behind us, they have 'Spider Crawl" cast on them. No crossbows,

First he guessed the cieling was about 150 feet high but then said that seems too high. That would like a 10 story building. So it is likely 50 to 80. I'm going with that unless Tann insists on the the higher ceiling.

Lothor

Ok, I think it is fair to know what is on the ceiling - there is no way that the mages wouldn't be calculating the size of the room for effect spells.

Lothor is still going to  target the archers with his bow.  But I'd like to know where the area spells are hitting first so that I know where to aim.  I'd like to aim at someone not hit by those spells.

Yes the long bow will hit at 300ft or 100 yds. with a sheaf arrow and do 1d8 of damage. A flight arrow will go up to 420 feet or 140 yards doing but does 1d6 damage. Your long bow is a +3 so it added 3 to the attack roll to improve the chance to hit the target.

@Nomad

By targeting archers do you mean the crossbowmen?

What's this stuff made of?

Hold off on targeting the Derro across from us. Figuring a few area of effect attacks out, Your arrows might be better spent picking off the Derrow above us.

Tann, the room is 300'x300' ? What is it made of ? Wood? Stone? Is there anything flamable around us?

Hang Tight....

So hang on gang,Nimu and I have shared some ideas it PM on our spell casting and we will share them soon.

Silent and Nomad think about targeting #3 with arrows. We may have a way to take most of the other crossbows out of action.

For now it look like Cor and Arandur will be perparing for melee when or if the Durro reach us. The pole and club guys may break through.

The jest is spells and range weapons first. And we have ideas of Frag and Valene addressing the the Durro on the ceiling.

Hold your post until we can share. Of course you all will be able to toss out suggestions and ideas too.

Tann are you staying with the carvern being 300 wide instead of 100 x300 long?

BTW, Peri had been riding on Ulthok's shoulder, her usual position when Ulthok is not leading the party. She will fly off about three to five feet above and away from Ulthok turning invisible as she leave her purch. I will put more in the post.

Yes 100x300 sounds better in how the cavarn looks on my RL game pics,

Nimu the cavarn is mountain stone w/vains of iron and silver. Its tough and durable remember your below the keep itself into the mines.
