New to the forum

Hello everyone,

I am UncleDog (Jp if you want to be 'formal'),
I am new to the forums, brought in by the comics and DM's corner. I host a homebrewed version of 4e for a few friends once a week.
I hope to become an active member, and not one of those people who show up, post a few times and then log.

Good to meet all of you.

You know, Ive spent years occasionally wondering if someone would use that avatar. It was one of the two I debated using when I started.

A Big welcome

Let me be another of the RDINN staff to welcome you to our site. As you already have hopefully seen there’s a lot to do here for sure so take your time and get comfortable with our site. There are a wide variety of AD&D rules sets in use here, even at one time a game run on the very first rules edition.. Basic .. So have no fear there is always something for everyone including Free Form games.

The Inn has been around quite some time and for a great majority of us is a second home so please treat the Inn, its Staff and all it’s members with respect and we will treat you the same.
So again welcome its always nice to have new people come to us and we hope you’ll feel at home. If you have any questions about the site feel free to PM myself or any other Staff member as needed.

Oh and just three more things,...............

First to help you out while your here, I present with with this towel to help clean yourself off after Eol's facelick.

Second I see Grugg has also said hello just please remember not to feed him.

And lastly if I may be so bold, for the record whats your favorite Edition of AD&D??

The avatar

From the moment I saw it, I knew it worked.
The game I am working on is a spin-off of the ideas put forth in "Goblins" webcomic. I (for some reason) became attracted to the idea that the monsters of the world (d&d, any edition) could be "good" in their own eyes. I recall reading a long writing on the 'racism' of classical D&D, and thought.... how do I throw a curveball?

Besides, I am sick of humans, dwarves and elves getting all the fun.

I am glad that you chose to use a different avatar, this one just fits like a +5 Glove of Comfort.

nice

I LOVE the idea of a D&D game from the monsters' perspective! I enjoy the Goblins comic (though I do admit that I usually read them a few at a time), and have wanted to run one of these games, myself.

As for the avatar - Grugg has too much time on his hands, as evidenced by his stalking of a userless avatar.

Tann,

I am unsure. Just recently got into the whole pen and paper gaming style. I used to write and build for several M.U.Ds and a few freeform games. The reason I use 4th ed at this time is the simplicity to tell the stories, interact with the players and their overall newness to it all.

I looked a bit into the different versions and it seems 3.0 was pretty good, but until I get my "DM legs" I am going to stick to a houseruled version of the offline, pen and paper mmo.

Greetings!

The monsters perspective certainly sounds like a fascinating game to say the least! I cannot help but ponder the amazing wealth of RP potential along those lines.. very interesting possibilities! Thank you for sparking my imagination! I hope to see you in a game around here!

meh

Version, shmersion. If you can tell the story and hide the mechanics from me, you are doing it right.

Yeah, I'm a dyed in the wool 2E fossil, but I enjoy D20 games (verson 3.x) just fine (though I still hate some specific rules). I haven't gotten into 4E yet (ever?), but see paragraph one above.

For Dreen

That is exactly what the whole game is about.
The RP aspect. I have a basic intro lined up for the players, a touch of outside motivation and boom, I unleash them into the world. Do they choose to follow revenge on the "Adventurers" that ransacked their village? Do they choose to find local people to help?
The sky is the limit, and the only set in stone rule is "Have fun", if the players start stacking dice over 4, I know I have gone too far.

It's their game, I just add flair, depth and basic laws.

Oh to be a monster..

I for one wouldn't mind seeking justice for the death of my family at the hands of those evil invading humans! Not only did they slaughter my family, but they had the nerve to loot and desecrate their bodies! Such evil cannot be allowed to stand! In the name of all that is good in this world we must bring these thieves to justice!

HAR HAR HAR!!!

revenge

And that is what is going to make this a fun game, no meeting in the local inn, no waiting for a local cleric to come seeking aid... good old classic revenge motivation.

Thing something along the lines of "Red Dawn".
